I thought it might be fun to get to know each other beyond our shared affection for Once Upon a Time! So tell us about yourself- what do you do? What are you into? What are your other passions?
Sooooo…..
My name is Angela- I actually go by Angela, not Angie. AngieBelle just has a better ring to it than AngelaBelle. 🙂 I’ve used that screenname since I was 15 in honor of my favorite character- Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I’m 31 now, married about a year and a half to a wonderful guy who works for a mobile start up company. I work as a puppeteer at a little local family zoo and park. No children yet- but definitely in the future.
I’m originally from Burbank, CA. My family moved to the Memphis, TN area when I was 10. After college, I moved to Orlando, FL to work at Walt Disney World. (I have a degree in theater.) I was there for over 8 years until I got married, and my husband got hired in Silicone Valley, so here I am back in CA- only on the other end!
I have a lot of passions. The one I am the most known for is that I am a total Disney geek and have been since grade school. I collect Disney memorabilia, I sing Disney, I worked at the parks, I know many of the films by heart, etc. I’ve always been the go-to person for Disney trivia.
Another thing I’m known for is my constant singing- I love Broadway showtunes. My dad introduced me to them as a kid, and now he jokes that he created a monster as it is hard to get me to stop. I decided I wanted to be an actress when I was 8 years old. I’ve never done anything professional, but I am vocally trained, and I’ve done quite a few productions in community theater. I’m in rehearsals for Fiddler on the Roof at the moment- playing Grandma Tzeitel in “Tevye’s Dream.” I saw an interview with Robert Carlyle in which he stated that he thinks musicals are weird. Ha! Well, I live my life as a musical, but I have never denied my weirdness. 😉
I also collect dolls- more specifically American Girl dolls. I adored them as a kid, and my mom still gets me things for them for my birthday. I love the historical characters that the dolls are based on and learning about history through their books, clothes, and accessories. I really enjoy children’s historical fiction. With all the dolls and the Disney princess stuff and the children’s books, my computer room looks like a little girl’s fantasy! (I never quite grew up all the way…)
Yeah, I think I like to talk about myself a little too much- so now it’s your turn!
[adrotate group="5"]May 5, 2013 at 1:39 am #191096RumplesGirlKeymasterOh sure why not? I normally don’t go for the personal stuff on forums but I like you all.
My real name is Jacquelyn–that’s Jacquelyn, not Jac or Jacqi or Jackie or any other derivation. 😆 I’ve always been pretty picky about that. I’m 26 and from Ohio where I’ve lived most of my life. I did a two year stint in Philadelphia after I graduated with my BA but mostly a Buckeye girl. I’m currently wrapping up my Masters program in Comparative Religion. While I ground myself in the ancient world of Greece and Rome and its connection to early Christian literature, my main emphasis is on story telling, specifically how cultures tell their stories after they’ve had contact with outsider or conquerors. (that sounds really fancy but honestly it’s just a way for me to read a lot of mythology). I work a lot with sources not found in the New Testament. I read Greek and Latin, so I spend an unholy amount of time translating documents that people honestly don’t care about (if I sound bitter it’s because I’m at the end of the program and oh goodness I just want my degree).
Various passions outside of ONCE include Doctor Who. I’ve been a Whovian since around the first year of the 10th Doctor and became so enamored of it that I began this really long foray into the classic stuff and several years later I can talk about both the classic and the modern Who with some authority (and in case anyone was wondering: 10th Doctor is my favorite followed by 4 and then 11 and 2). Other than being a Oncer and a Whovian, I read a lot of books. Lately, I’ve been getting back into the world of young adult supernatural and/or distopia (love me some distopia) series because in the wake of the Hunger Games they are everywhere. Highly recommend the Divergent series by Veronica Roth and the Mortal Instrument series by Cassandra Clare. Also, if you’re looking for all around good fantasy, you can’t go wrong with Neil Gaiman. Outside of fantasy, I read (and re-read) a lot of John Green.
Let’s see..I did books and tv…so here is a small list of things I tell people during “get to know people” games
1) I spent two summers in Egypt on archaeological dig. Yes, I saw the pyramids and the Sphinx. I also took a boat trip on the Nile and ate a goat (tasted a little bit like chicken).
1a) Also spent two weeks in England and I secretly believe that I was supposed to be born British.
2) I never wear the same color socks. I think a society that tells me I need to wear matching socks when I always wear jeans and sneakers is slowly turning us all into soulless automatons and I refuse to kowtow to the machine!
3) I listen to a lot of very loud punk/rock/”emo” music (I hate the term emo but I find if I say it people generally know what I’m talking about). Favorite band: My Chemical Romance, until the day I die (I’ve left explicit instructions with friends and family that I am to be buried in one of my MCR shirts).
4) I have a bunny (if you listened to the podcast I co-hosted with Daniel after Lacey, this is why my Twitter name is Punk_Bunny_87; I saw some people wondering in the chat that night). Her name is Cinnabun and she is a (almost) 2 year old mini lop. She’s also spoiled. (I think I’ll include a picture because she’s telling me I should).I think that’s it, except a bunny picture of course.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 5, 2013 at 2:40 am #191106Rumple LoveParticipantAwww! Bunny picture is so cute!!
When I was six years old we had a garden and I wanted a bunny so badly. I heard my mom talking about how the rabbits were eating the veggies so I set a trap to get my bunny. Needless to say, here I am at 36 and still never had a bunny. Oh well….
Anyhow, I am a true New England girl and to be ever more specific I am a true Boston girl thru and thru. I have lived in Massachusetts, Washington (State), New Hampshire, North Carolina, and now Maine. I am married and have two Siamese cats. The youngest is named Cujo and if you are a Stephen King fan then you know what I am talking about. 🙂
I love theater and have been active in theater in one aspect or another until recently. I am not an actress at all. I love being backstage!! I’ve done everything from props, to stage design, lighting director to stage manger and everything in between. Like you AngieBell I am always singing something crazy from theater. I will thoroughly and proudly admit to my weirdness. 😆
I love my Red Sox no matter how amazing they are doing to how badly they are doing.
Hobbies: I love to read, theater, and collecting Disney!! I have a Disney room!! It is awesome and I have all kinds of rare items and movies, stuffed animals, musical snow globes, and the list goes on and on. I have a Mickey Mouse bed!! You can never have too much Disney at all. I love my Disney room!!! I even have a section called “Pooh’s Corner”!
I work in social services with children. I am currently a program supervisor for a children’s in-home agency that provides service for children that have developmental delays and/or Autism. Prior to that I was a children’s case manager and I worked with kids with Mental Health diagnosis, DD, and Autism. I also work part time as an Autism Information Specialist for the state of Maine. So I get to drive around the state and do trainings and work with families that are touched by Autism. Working with people who are on the Autism Spectrum are my favorite population of people, well, them and Oncers!! 😆 In January I started a parent support group in my area which has taken right off so I am pretty proud of that.
Oh! The best part of me, I was adopted from Columbia when I was two years old with my sister and I will never ever take my American Citizenship for granted. I remember being four years old in court waving my little American flag around with adults that were also getting their citizenship.
Anyhow, looking forward to hearing about others. You guys all seem to smart and so interesting!! You all have led very interesting lives from what I can tell!! 😀
May 5, 2013 at 5:06 pm #191153thelonebamfParticipantAugh! I am really excited to learn a little more about these awesome people I’m spending my (virtual) time with. ^_^
So, right, I’m Cat! Oh wait, hold on.
HOWDY YA’LL. I’M CAT.
Yeah, I’m from Texas, originally from Dallas, currently a resident of Austin. I’ve lived in St. Louis and Bloomington, Indiana for a while as well (and people always seem to think I’m from Alaska… but that’s another story…) I’m also married but we have no cute animals, well, not live ones anyway. We have a growing collection of adorable (often Japanese) plush animals in our apartment- most of whom get used as pillows.
I guess I’m one of those nerds with a penchant for Japanese pop culture, although I am a bit out of the loop when it comes to current anime etc. I was a big fan when I was in high school (over ten years ago) but it was a bit harder to come by. These young whippersnappers and their live streams don’t know what it’s like to pay 12 for a VHS tape and then wait for it to come in the mail so you can see four episodes of fan subbed Sailor Moon. ^_^
I spend a lot of my free time working on projects and events related to my local Lolita fashion community. There are about 130 ladies (well, and a few gentlemen) in our Facebook group and we get together every few weeks to show off our rad outfits and take photos and eat because goodness can we eat. (For those of you who might not know what Lolita is, because I know it’s a peculiar subculture here’s a link to one of my latest acquisitions- mermaids!!!: http://baby-aatp.blogspot.com/2013/04/jewelry-box-mermaid.html) But yeah, a lot of my time (and money T_T) end up going towards this one way or another. I do things like run contests for my local community and every once in a while we put together a zine with photos and articles written by members of our group. It’s a lot of fun and I’m lucky to have a great group of girls. I’ve made a ton of friends (and actually got my current job) from the lolita comm, which is a wonderful surprise.
Current job- I’m a cook! I got my culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu a few years ago. I’ve done the fine dining scene but now I work in a much more laid back environment at a food co-op. So this means a lot of big batch cooking, catering, alternative diet items. Lots of kale. Lots of tofu. LOTS of tofu… I work with some totally rad and hilarious people. One of the things I love about my job is that even though I have never gotten the impression from anyone that “this is just a job, this is what I do to pay the bills”, everyone there also has their outside passion that they devote time and love to. One of my coworkers put it thusly: “I mean we all have our passions, I have my music, you have your bikes, Cat has her… kawaii empire…” Much laughing at that.
I originally went to school to study painting (and printmaking) and soon realized that I didn’t have the temperament to make it in that sort of world and that I would probably grow to hate art if I actually had to do it for a living. So for me, art is just one of those things I do for enjoyment, whether it’s drawing or making hand printed bookmarks. I get kinda crafty sometimes, I’m always trying out something new. (I’m actually waiting on a few supplies to get in because I have some OUAT ideas for some pieces, I’ll share those as they’re complete.)
Other things I love? Well video games (especially music rhythm games and Pokemon!) and cosplay. I like the occasional zombie flick (although I’m not in to most western horror movies) and I love comics. Nightcrawler (yeah, from the X-men) has been my hero since I was about 12- hence the username. (Stupid Dane Cooke ruined my username, but I’m not changing it!) I have an alarmingly large collection of “buddy pics” of Nightcrawler and Hellboy that I’ve commissioned from various artists at anime and comic book conventions. Too many to put on my walls. ~_~;; I also enjoy Doctor Who (RG, is there anything better than a Scottish guy in a tailored 3-piece suit?) but I’m woefully behind. (For no reason other than I was too sad to say goodbye to 10 and then just got distracted by things like Adventure Time) I’m also a Star Trek fan, mostly of TNG and DS9 so yeah, I can tick that off my nerd-cred card. :3
But um, yep! That’s me. That’s probably more than anyone wanted to know- but too bad. ^_^

May 5, 2013 at 5:40 pm #191164angiebelleParticipantThis is fun! I’m enjoying learning more about you all- we are all so much more than just Oncers!
I forgot to mention, I do have cute critters- we just adopted a pair of brother and sister kitties at the beginning of the year. 🙂

May 5, 2013 at 7:14 pm #191178laurieanneParticipantI love this! Here goes–
I’m Laurie and I’m a 57 year old grandma (Mimi) to two beautiful little boys, Joel (4) and Chase (1). I’ve been married for almost 37 years to the Most Patient Man Alive, and we have two sons, Kevin and Keith and an amazing daughter in law, Carly. We recently relocated from Snoqualmie, WA to move back closer to our southern CA family, including the aforementioned little guys and my 90 year old Daddy. I was born and lived most of my life in southern California. I went back to school in my 30’s(part time because I had young kids at home) and graduated at 43 with my music education/vocal studies degree from Cal State Long Beach. I spent 12 fun-filled years in the classroom, teaching middle school choir, musical theatre and elementary general music. When our younger son Keith became involved in musical theatre, so did I, first as a backstage mom and later as a vocal director and stage director. I’ve since directed or musical directed over 40 shows.I love musical theater but the schedule doesn’t mesh well with my current lifestyle as private voice teacher and SuperMimi. I have around 15 students from 5th grade through high school and I love teaching them so much! I teach all styles but mainly classical and musical theatre. I’m also involved at my church and am a Big Sister (kind of like a mentor) to a beautiful and amazing 12 year old girl named Yared. We have a blast together and it’s seriously one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.I don’t know how to attach photos or you would be treated to a glimpse of two beautiful red-haired boys :). Almost forgot – we have a gorgeous cat named Tabitha.
Rumple Love – Forgot to add this earlier– My grandson Joel was diagnosed with autism this year and has significant speech and language delays. The work you are doing is so important! I would love to pick your brain sometime.

Hey y’all!!!My name is Jessamine Parker. My nationality is Chinese.I have been an American citizen since i was one.I am now 18.I was adopted by the best parents I could have hoped for.I am a Seventh-Day Adventist Christian. My folks were Baptists until they found the SDA church. We’ve found that their specific beliefs coincide with the Bible more than the others do.That is NOT to say that other denominations are not true Christianity, but the practices of the SDA church fit more with what the Bible instructs, rather than preaching and teaching from some exalted human philosopher. We do use their writings to help us understand the Bible more, but we acknowledge that the Bible is God’s Authority for us.I chose to give my entire heart to the Lord when I was about 10 and actually able to understand what salvation was exactly.I am homeschooled and in 11th grade.I will be learning Chinese 1,guitar,and art this summer through virtual school.I LOOOOOOOOVE to read!!!!!!!(I got a chuckle when Rumple said”You read too many books, dearie!!!!!!” in Lacey, because it can be applied to me too!!!).A couple of my favs are Alice inWonderland,To Kill a Mockingbird,Falling Leaves by Adeline Yen Mah,and generally anything having to do with Disney.I too am a major Disney Geek.I often quote lines, even whole scenes to myself at random times, like when I’m doing my homework(it’s not very disciplined of me,but I still do well.).I ride a RipStik caster board, the DLX to be exact. And no,just because I ride a RipStik,I am not gay.I wear a helmet whenever I ride, and knee and elbow pads when I practice tricks.Better safe and goofy than cool and crippled. My mom is teaching me how to hand-quilt.I always have to have a quilt in progress or else I’m not completely happy. It takes me forever to complete one,but I still love it.I like to debate, but I’m not very good at it.I often know what I’m talking about, but I don’t know what to say, when to say,or how to say it.Then I come across as gibbering idiot.Hopefully that will change soon.I can’t help but argue with someone who hates Disney.Anything said against Disney as a whole or us Christians thats not true just absolutely makes my blood boil!!!!So do politics…..but I don’t feel like dealing with them right now.I used to hate history, but now,it’s one of my favorite subjects….except the dates. 😕 I prefer cats over dogs.I want to be doctor, and maybe even go back to China to help there.
I like pop, country(I do not like Taylor Swift though.),50’s and 60’s music(like the Beatles, the Monkees, the Everly Brothers,Annette Funicello, and Herman’s Hermits),and of course,Disney songs!!!!!!! I actually never really liked dolls when I was little.I was petrified of any doll that was not Disney. My mom had to quite literally beg once me to just look at the dolls at Target. Now I’ve overcome the phobia enough like American Girl dolls in addition to the Disney dolls. 😀 A legal adult, and scared of dolls. It’s quite something. 🙂 🙂Keeper of King George's Coat of arms;Tiny's pickaxe;Belle's bronze vase;Emma Hacker device and true love kiss to Henry;Granny's surcharge on pickles;Snow's "Good will always win;Regina's apple turnover;Gold's pink shirt,Mickey phone,&glasses(1x12);RQ's chess set,and Chip's shattered remains

May 6, 2013 at 10:14 pm #191673obisgirlParticipantobisgirl here. Elaine in real life.
I celebrated my 30th birthday last month and had an Once Upon a Time themed party. I am an Ameri-Fi-Brit (American-Filipino-British). Yay! for Filipinos and Mig Macario who plays Bashful because he’s Filipino. A Filipino to be proud of other than Manny Pacquaio and Happy Slip.
My mom is Filipino and my dad was born in London (but he came to the U.S when was a boy and eventually lost the British accent). We went as a family to London in 1999 and actually got to see the London Eye go up over the Seine.
My favorite Filipino foods are egg rolls (not be confused with spring or vegetable rolls), chicken adobo (with baby red potatoes).
I went home to the Philippines in 2008 for a wedding and my family and I did a lot of island hopping. We were in Laoag (we saw Marcus’ body, that was funny. He’s in a glass tomb in a dark room with dramatic music, with flowers and gold and he looks like a mannequin). We went to Manila, side trip to Bohol, tiny island of Bato, Leyte where my mom’s from. And I saw a cockfight too in my mom’s hometown. That was interesting. It didn’t last very long, was over in seconds.
But I got to meet most of my family whom I only knew by name. I have a lot of cousins, aunts and uncles and my mom’s always collecting relatives when she travels.
I know some Tagalog words and can figure out some visayan words because visayan has a lot of Spanish words in it and I studied Spanish in high school and in college. I have a love for karaoke and we have some filipino songs that I love to do my own special interpretations of, often mispronouncing words and just being silly in general. I butcher it like a pro.
I have an older brother who lives in Brooklyn, New York. We both studied animation and video but at different colleges (him at Rhode Island School of Design and me at George Mason University). We look nothing alike. I’d say I look Filipino from waist up and my brown hair is real. I’m still taller than my mom.
One of my good friends offline, I met her while I was still going to community college and we are both addicted to Once Upon a Time. She e-mails asking if I watched the episode yet and we chat back and forth. She was a big fan of Hook before me and now, whenever we get together, envitably, we talk about the show.
I watch episodes of Once with my boyfriend on Tuesdays (yay! that’s tomorrow). We’re almost done with watching Lost on Netflix but who knows what we’ll watch next after Once goes on summer hiatus. He once suggested that we finish watching Farscape since that’s what initially brought us together and I had a big laughing fit. I’m a fangirl, he’s a game geek. His thesis is actually related to gaming.
I’ve been writing fanfiction for a very long time. I signed up for a fanfiction.net account in 1997 with the username obi’s girl, stopped posting there for awhile for different reasons, then got myself a livejournal and I now also have a dreamwidth which takes off the stress of dealing with livejournal’s new posting interface, which is seriously messed up. I also have a tumblr and a twitter (which I wish had existed back in the day when I was managing my websites).
I ran a couple of Star Wars websites when I was in high school, my baby “Obidala Sanctuary,” which turned 10 like last year, and it’s sister site, Fated to Be. I ran a fansite directory for the British actress, Keira Knightley (she’s still my favorite), there were some other websites I had too. But now, I’m simply fandom content writing my fanfics, making icons and adding to the discussion.
Something I have noticed about my self, the actors I crush on tend to have sexy accents. My high school crush Ewan McGregor, sexy Scottish accent and that man can sing too, James McAvoy, nice eyes and so handsome. I can’t understand a word he says in an interview but he’s hot. I thought that the Phantom in 2005 Phantom of the Opera was hot, I have a mad crush on the new Superman, Henry Cavill. David Anders who played a villain on Heroes had a British accent, he doesn’t have one in real life but I still thought he was hot. I also have a crush on Ben Barnes from the Chronicles of Narnia movies.
Then, there’s Colin. I was very resistant at first and then eventually, I gave in. I won’t admit that I have a crush on Robert too even though he does have a sexy accent as well, mainly because he’s two decades older than me. Colin’s at least closer to my age.
Currently, I am studying to become an Adobe Certified Educator in InDesign, and will have to study again later for Illustrator and Dreamweaver. Then, I will have all the coffee I want because the office has a Keurig.
