First let me start by saying I’m a huge fan of rumbelle. Sooooo……
– what does everyone think about his conversation with Lacey in this episode? “Have another drink”….and he didn’t seem happy when saying this. Do you think he’s just humoring her? Something seems off. He seems to equally enjoy her presence and be annoyed by her.
– and this has nothing to do with this episode BUT I was rewatching The Crocodile… What is with Belle waking up in Rumple’s bed??? Seemed out of character with the show AND very early in their newly reestablished relationship. Or actually just established relationship given they didn’t really discuss feelings pre-curse. Not that I have a problem with it…just found it surprising and didn’t see anyone else appear to blink an eye about it on the boards.[adrotate group="5"]May 8, 2013 at 2:44 pm #192200kfchimeraParticipantI did find some disturbing undercurrents–like when he tells her to run along to the shop and she sort of half turns like she isn’t sure but then does. Then when he asks her to excuse him to talk to the Charmings, and she hides. She’s with him because of what he can do, and he knows that but misses Belle so much. The have another drink thing–they are enabling each other in unhealthy ways.

He treats her like a child here- go into the other room while we deal with adult business. He didn’t send Belle away when the Charmings came to him in “The Cricket Game.” He doesn’t have that deep love for her that he has with Belle. I disagree with what Adam and Eddie said that perhaps he’d prefer her as Lacey- I didn’t get that vibe at all. Deep down, he still wants Belle back. He is putting on a show to keep Lacey around.

I was disturbed by the scene also – I think Rumple knows what he is doing with Lacey but he wants Belle so much that right now he doesn’t care. He still knows deep down that it’s not going to work. He is grasping at straws emotionally. And he’s frustrated that it still doesn’t give him what he is looking for. But he can’t walk away…not yet. I think the “have another drink” was more like “prepare yourself- you’re going to hear something really off the wall.” She also seems to know and accept that magic exists – which is really weird to me. As Lacey, she has not history with magic, yet she seems to buy into the concept very quickly and willingly. Not like Emma, who was much more skeptical.

Yes, I was surprised by that too! She seemed to accept magic awfully quickly…maybe it was because she still remembered being healed and no one being honest with her about it.
May 8, 2013 at 3:58 pm #192216SlurpeezParticipantI find the entire dynamic between Mr. Gold and Lacey to be “off” as well. She brings out his dark side, and he gives in because magic is his weakness. Mr. Gold wants to keep her around, because she makes him feel powerful and that is a turn on to the both of them. Also, while Mr. Gold inwardly wished to have Belle back, I think his connection with Lacey is primarily sexual in nature, which is also a kind of addition. Yet, I just can’t see Mr. Gold finding Lacey all that interesting outside of the bedroom. He himself said they share nothing in common, except this fixation with dark magic. Something big is going to have to happen to snap Mr. Gold out of this dark paradise.

May 8, 2013 at 3:59 pm #192217RumplesGirlKeymasterI almost think Lacey was so open to magic being real because she wanted to, magic is just another expression of power. If Rumple says he can do magic, then that means he just became more powerful in her eyes and can do really impressive things for her.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 8, 2013 at 4:20 pm #192225s. sanchezParticipantI think the discussion about magic may have been a game changer for his relationship w/ Lacey. Before that, it was just amusing. Im afraid that Gold doesn’t have a plan laid out with Lacey that he’s just playing it by ear. Perhaps her question about being immortal with him forever made him really stand back and take her seriously. My problem is that Robert Carlyle is an amazing actor and it seems like their scenes together are “off” not cute and awkward like their date…just off. I’m hoping it’ll all make sense in a little bit 😕
