Totally agree with everyone- daughter of finders, career as a finder, I really think a lot of Emma’s backstory is to make her a strong tracker for finding Bae.
Agreed, her character has been set up perfectly to be able to do that task.
As to whether that means it’ll be Mr NYC who she’s sent after, I’m still in two minds about whether or not he’ll end up being Bae. Part of me is thinking that seeing as how he’s already been given his sign and the location to head for, he won’t need anyone coming to find him, so if Rumple’s gonna send Emma after Bae, it’d be kind of redundant if she ends up going to find Mr NYC. Of course, if he is Bae, it’s not like Rumple would know that he’s been sent that sign, so he may still think to send Emma to look for him, even though it wouldn’t really be necessary.
Now – will Rumple be more active in helping to bring Emma and Snow home, now that he’s invested in their return? I buy that he’s not one for realm jumping, but I can see him approaching Jefferson and getting the ball moving – all without Charming’s knowledge of course.
Rumple always finds a way to get what he’s after, so I’m sure that if there’s anything he can do to help bring Emma back, he’ll do it.

Personally I think the boundary wipes the magic from you & that includes your memories of it, so while I think Emma will be able to leave, it’ll be whether or not she remembers what happened AFTER the curse was broken that remains to be seen- nothing is simple with H&K as writers 😉
Interesting thought! That would be quite the twist if crossing the border does have an adverse affect on her now. At the very least, I hope they show her thinking twice about taking that step, now that she knows what she knows.
Another thing I thought of…would she even be compelled to grant him his favour? Regina’s not compelled to comply to the “please” any more, so could Emma just refuse to do whatever Rumple asks of her if his deals aren’t quite as iron clad in this new world? Though I suppose he could play on her maternal instincts to convince her to help, if he does in fact want her to find his son.

I think Emma will grant the favour because of her own sense of honour. Even if she refused, she would still owe Rumple and that’s a position nobody wants to be in. I think Rumple’s favour will be reasonable enough for her to do.
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixI said in another post a while ago that I thought Gold’s favor would be using Emma to find Bae. Since her job was finding people. Now how he figures out where to send Emma is another story…
Maybe he (or someone else) can do the scrying with a map to narrow down Bae’s location.
The difference between Emma & Reggie is that Reggie promised under the curse. It’s broken now. Emma’s promise had nothing to do with the curse.
Gold knows where to look for Bae. He had maps of NY, Massachusetts (Boston) & Baltimore. I think he knows where to send her.
