I’m referring to Mr. Gold’s line to Emma when he’s in jail:
“When the day comes that I make my request, it’ll be for more than half a sandwich.” Mr. Gold (S1•Ep12
I assume it has something to do with the curse but what could it be? Maybe granting immunity from past crimes in fairytale world?

Emma will just say no if the favor is too big. If he like asks for Henry or asks her to do something horrible she would just say no. Maybe he will ask for something after she believes.
March 29, 2012 at 2:15 am #140255enchantedoneParticipantI want to know this too. We know that Rumple can see the future…maybe he already knows what he is going to ask for. Either way I think it is going to be a turning point for Emma to prove that she really does believe in the curse or not.
March 29, 2012 at 12:16 pm #140272killianhookfanParticipantI was just thinking about this too. I don’t think his request will have anything to do with his “power” to demand that her end of their deal be upheld. I think that it will show that she finally believes because he will ask her to do something that she wouldn’t agree to do unless she did finally believe, or it will show that she has actually come to trust him and like/ understand him (which could also, in theory, show that she believes). Like he could ask her to help him free Belle or do something that will help him get his son back – something that shows a different side of him that we don’t see in SB.

After all, he goes to great lengths to explain to her that rules are rather like deals & they’re what make things run smoothly in this world. So that leads me to believe that if Emma did choose to ignore her ‘debt’ to Gold, then it would throw things off balance & perhaps lead to dire repercussions, not only for Emma but for those she cares about. But as for what he’ll ask for, I truly believe that after the events of ‘Hat Trick’, he’ll ask her to side with him, and use her magic ( that she may or may not have – I think she has magic ) to help him meet his goals; whatever they may be.

that’s possible.

I thought about that too.

not likely.. don’t you get the feeling that Rumpel is above the curse? this is why he remember’s and why he says that he is more feared than Regina… he was the one to create it after all… and if not, he’s gonna make sure to ask the favour when he knows that emma has to follow it. like after the curse is broken and everyone get their powers back… he does see the future and all his steps are meticulously calculated… he’s not gonna ask a favour when he knows she doesn’t have to oblige.

yes he probably already knows the favour, and whatever it is, he knows it is more precious than cinderella’s baby.
April 9, 2012 at 10:16 pm #141612hjbauParticipantI do think that whatever Rumpel asks Emma to do she is going to have to do. I just question how that will feel believable. And i think Emma is going to believe the curse is real by the end of the season. We have seen inklings of that with her looking through Henry’s book at the end of Hat Trick and looking through it again in Stable Boy. She isn’t quite there yet, but she is almost there. All she has to do is see something or hear something that will push her over the edge.
I just think it has to feel believable. The thing is that Emma is still Emma, a person who has lived in a world without magic, so if Gold asks Emma to do something that she really doesn’t want to do then in the real world she would just say no, but in fairytale land you can’t say no because there are magical consequences it seems like.
I don’t think Rumpel sees the future though i do think he has a long term plan. Though i don’t think he killed the fairy god mother just so that he could do the deal with Cinderella knowing that later on he would then get a chance to do a deal with Emma. I don’t think he knew that. I think he just took advantage of a good opportunity in both cases.
April 9, 2012 at 11:06 pm #141624killianhookfanParticipantI have the feeling that when Gold asks for his favor Emma will have come to trust Gold (even though he may still seem suspicious to her) based upon the outcomes he has been able to provide for her so even though his request may seem questionable I think she will trust him enough to go along with it.
I think Gold is lacking someone who trusts him in SB but he can’t let his guard down and let anyone get too close. I think that Emma is going to have to trust Gold before they are going to have her understand what he is all about – otherwise he loses some of his mystery and power. I think Emma’s character is being groomed to be too upstanding to refuse Gold’s request – that would be too easy, and I don’t see the savior being the type of person who would be able to give her word and then not follow through – even if she doesn’t realize that she is reliable yet, I think Gold knows that she is.
I’m starting to think that Regina really doesn’t have to do anything with or to Belle in order to mess with Gold. I think that Belle’s presence alone is a threat to Gold’s power and Regina knows it. The man spent 28 years tending to a chipped cup and beat a man with his cane when he thought he stole it from him. I think Regina knows that it will be very difficult for Gold to maintain his tough exterior if he knows that Belle is alive. She knows that he won’t want to allow his guard down but that it will be very difficult for him if Belle is there – especially if she knows who she is. Imagine if Belle knows who they both are but in order to maintain his reputation he has to allow Belle to think that he doesn’t regret kicking her out of the castle and allowing her to be captured by the EQ. I think that will almost kill him emotionally. I don’t know if his request will have anything to do with Belle but I wouldn’t be surprised if somehow Emma finds a way to repay Gold for the help I believe he will end up giving her throughout the series by finding a way to redeem him with Belle without sacrificing his reputation in SB. I think Emma is smart enough to recognize the need for Gold’s power and reputation but is also compassionate enough to understand that even Gold has the need for love.
