The power Emma has as Sheriff as a regular person without magic is the same power a police officer has. Good cops does good things, bad cops does bad things. Good cops can be bought and I believe because of that owed favor she has already been bought and in Mr. Gold pocket. call it a “get out of jail free card” or a “send someone the jail at my leisure card”.

She would just say no, right? The only way i think he can get her to actually agree to whatever he wants her to do is threaten her.
April 14, 2012 at 2:47 am #142119charmingParticipantI don’t think so either but nevertheless Mr. Gold did in a sense buy a Sheriff which is also a one up one Mayor Regina. I do not believe Mr. Gold takes pleasure in killing. His power comes from the deal me makes. He is a collector not a killer. He collects power. Collectors feel that killing will only diminish their power while aquiring and keeping increases their power.

There is no cost to Emma saying no to him right? And Gold didn’t ask Emma to get him out of his charges for beating up Belle’s father, he asked Regina, and i think if he had asked Emma she would have just said no.
I just wonder how that is going to play out because i think that Gold is going to have to force Emma to do that favor. Like no choice. Like he will ruin someone else if she doesn’t do what he says. There has to be some sort of threat, in my opinion.
April 14, 2012 at 3:13 am #142129dorothyParticipantMaybe not exactly a threat, but a feeling of having no other choice. Maybe Emma will be put into a situation where it would be beneficial to her to carry out her favor to Rumple/Gold.
April 14, 2012 at 3:21 am #142132hjbauParticipantI just think the only things that she is going to feel she has no choice about are things that are a threat to Henry or Mary. I don’t know. We will see.
April 14, 2012 at 3:25 am #142133charmingParticipantThere is not smoking gun evidence of magic but only mere suggestion that it does exist in Storybrook. First, we will start with what Jefferson said in Hat Trick. He said since you are the daughter ot Snow and Chaming and was born in FTL you have magic but do not know it yet. (Not an exact quote but I believe that was where he was going to). The clock restarted at the end of the Pilot. The broken compass at the end of True North started to work. Regina going down into Henry’s crypt, opening a door in the heart chamber and squeezing a heart; then Graham dying of natural causes. Jefferson after getting karate kicked out of a window….where did he go?? Given magic is not said nor is it “in your face kind of thing” but subtlely placed and carefully I might add.
Gold/Rumple cashes in on the deals only when either the souls are desparate or if there is another deal to be had. Emma made that deal in place of another. A similiar situation occurs after the real James died and another deal was struck to get the other James. That I believe was the most complex deal of them all so far. That whole deal was a series of several deal over a period of about 18 to 20 years. Which lead deals struck hear and there as a by product of the grand deal to save King Midas and slay the dragon by helping out poor King George. Going on that note the deal, don’t sweat it. It I probably phase 1 of grand deal number 2. The grand deal that will top the last.
April 14, 2012 at 3:33 am #142136hjbauParticipantI do think that Rumpel should cash in on that favor this season.
April 14, 2012 at 9:57 am #142169SlurpeezParticipant@ charming: Also, to add to your list of “magical incidents” there was the earthquake that occurred immediately after Emma put on her deputy badge (ep. 5). That caused the ancient mines to open up and Henry to discover part of Snow White’s glass coffin.
