What I mean with this is that, at least as far as I’m concerned, being fond of children is something that fits into the character. Of course if he can take advantage from the deal with Henry -and, probably any other child-, he is going to do so. But if not…well, it could change depending on the mood. And, of course, this doesn’t mean lack of consequences: just that the consequences are not due to the wizard’s intention

Because after all, as Gigi says, Rumplestiltskin is not an evil character: he is just amoral, neutral one.

I don’t know, maybe I wrote everything a bit messy, but i hope you can get my point. 😳

Well hmmm! I get you feel it fits the character from those fairytales you speak about. And it may be so. Guess we will just have to wait and see if there is or isnt an ulterior motive to his kindness towards him.

Gigi, I never said I think Rumple is truly and only evil. It would be hard to state that really, because of all the backstory we have seen. Im only saying I find THIS scene with him giving Henry the necklace to be a bit suspecious.

Everyone expects the worse of Rumple. Even when he does do something selfless, such as helping Henry, everyone assumes that he has some ulterior motive. There was a similar situation in The Return when Rumple went to Archie to talk and Archie’s first thought was that he was there for the rent.

I think it is possible that Rumple doesn’t want to be the guy he was in fairytale land. He doesn’t want to be the “monster” that he was. With Belle back in his life, he wants to be the best he can be for her.

All magic comes with a price!

For the most part, I think Mr. Gold’s intentions were pure. But his growing relationship with Henry might give him access to Emma in the future. But for the moment, I think Mr. Gold was simply helping Henry because he was an innocent child and probably reminded him of Baelfire.

Woauh Woauh Woauh!!! Just listened to a podcast over on sqpn onceuponstime. They talk about Henry wearing purple clothes. Purple is the color of magic.
Henry is going to start using magic and its NOT going to be a good thing…..

huh, I don’t think the writers focus on the details to that level… Otherwise, *certain* characters wouldn’t be constantly sharing the same clothes?

Oh I definitely think they doo. Many things on the show is colour coded.
They don’t have too wear the same clothes, just the colors that fits their mood or currant state of mind.
Think how Regina went from solemn blue and earth colors too hard on black in the scene where she chrushes her first heart and becomes evil.

that’s true, but that’s FTL. I’m talking Storybrooke. It’s a pretty grey town, the character there can be wearing anything really.
Although now, thinking of it, I’ve never seen Mary Margaret in black clothes or Madam Mayor without wearing something dark…. Er, but it’s still not THAT colour specific, I feel it’s more a differentiation between dark and light rather than particular colours like in FTL…

It may be so. But it makes sence too me that the creators of the show use colors, both in FTL ans SB, to show us something about the characters inner mindstate, so to speak.
That’s also why Storybrook is such a grey place, because they were all in this trance state, and one day was the same bland and boring as the next.

They talk about the color codes a lot over on that podcast channel I mentioned called onceuponatime.sqpn.com It’s a very good podcast they got some good theories.
Go listen if you will, its not only about colors 😀

Plus I would love too see a storyline where Henry starts too fall for the temptations of magic because he tries to be a hero. He could be tempted too because, well he’s a kid and Charming and the others don’t want to involve him too much in the fighting, but we’ve seen him sneak out and do his thing regardless of what his mother and the others say.

And that little bottle Rumple gave him to control his nightmares might be the first step.

I would love to see that, because then it would be a repetition (of a sort) of Reginas falling for the temptations of magic, what looks to be an easy solution to ones problems.
But as we know, it comes with a price.
And then it will be interesting if he falls hard or if someone, hopefully Regina in my opinion, saves him in time.
