SpectatorOk, I think that map of the stars leads them to the plant that Hook was looking for and this saves David.
I also think the deal was one of them had to stay in NL and one could returned. Since Hook’s brother never came back (abandoned), Hook turned to pirating that explains why he came back to NL. I could never figure out how he wanted or knew about NL originally.

But Hook didn’t flat-out lie. Maybe there IS an antidote, but it’s impossible to reach? What if Killian’s own brother died from dreamshade poison because Killian couldn’t reach the dreamshade cure?
that’s a good theory. Maybe PP has the dreamshade? Is this the first deal that PP and Hook make: antidote for my brother and I’ll become your pirate?
I wouldn’t be surprised if the antidote lays with PP (just in case he or one of his Lost Boys ever were to be stung by a dreamshade-tipped arrow).
Also, if Charming is dying of dreamshade poisoning just like Killian’s brother, Liam, did, then that explains a lot of Hook’s emotional investment and recognition of the symptoms. Hook said that David only had days or weeks at most left, perhaps based on watching Liam die. That would explain why Hook said to David, “Doesn’t your family deserve to know you’re dying?” because he saw his own brother die the same horrible, slow death. Also, it would explain Hook’s line, “Why don’t you care?” since Killian probably loved his brother and cared very deeply about his sad fate.

KeymasterRaise your hand if you think Liam is gonna die??
I think the plant COULD save Charming but I also think that they won’t find it this episode because they want to drag out Charming’s “death” until the end.

hmmm. Maybe?

I think Liam will almost certainly die, which will lead to Hook to becoming a pirate.

Agreed.

Why would Hook want to return to NL, if his brother was killed? Hook must have made a deal with PP for safety or something else.

Deals all around! Some sort of deal was made, to be sure. Maybe “cure my brother and I’ll do whatever you want?” Or “let me live and I’ll do whatever you want”
Time line time
–Hook and Liam go off to find this magical plant
–They end up in NL (wanna bet PP has something to do with that)
–Liam is poisoned by the dreamshade
–Liam dies and Hook makes a deal with PP to be left out of NL and to do PP’s bidding
–Hook becomes a pirate, mourning the loss of his brother, his last bit of family.

The only reason Hook would ever want to return to NL would be to live long enough to figure out how to enact his revenge on Rumple for killing Milha. That is what he said in “The Crocodile.” But if Killian had been to NL before, that would explain how he knew about time being frozen there and why he wanted to go there after the events of 2×4.
Also, regarding how Hook became a pirate, I have a theory. I think after Killian’s father abandoned him, his older brother LIam welcomes his little bro aboard his navy ship and becomes a de factor father to young Killian. But after losing Liam to death, Killian is sent over the edge and joins a band of pirates.

ParticipantI think Liam does die. I’m still not sure of the key they showed when they hinted at the episode title, because I think it might be a reference to some kind of betrayal or frame-up in this episode. My guess is Liam somehow does something wrong, and Hook ends up bearing the stigma/pain/cost of it that forces him into piracy.
Or its Pan who cuts a deal with Hook, because here is the timeline thing I cannot figure out. We meet Pan before Bae leaves for Nl, and Pan is Pied Pipering it up in the FTL. He has not yet formed his band of lost boys, but it sounds like he does come from NL already. At this point, Hook and Milah are off sailing around. I feel the events with Liam obviously predate Hook meeting Milah, so the Pan they meet does not have his whole set-up with the Lost Boys yet. We are going to be seeing very early Pan, and I am so curious to know what/when/how Pan and Rumple first met too, as it was not when Rumple was the Dark One.

I think this is exactly how it will play out. (Oh man. Are we putting money on if PP had something to do with PapaHook leaving Killian?)

I agree. This is before Crocodile events. So more timeline things
–Hook and Liam look for plant
–Hook and Liam end up in NL
–Liam dies and Hook becomes a pirate
–Hook goes back to FTL and meets Milah
–Crocodile events part 1
–Desperate Souls
–The Return
–Crocodile events part 2
–Hook returns to NL a fully fledged pirate.
