And Jerome…..the dude playing him….Wow! Just wow! He’s very in tune with his character! Anyone get the feeling that Barbra will likely end up becoming Harley Quinn???
A couple of us had this conversation this morning and @Phee made a really good point that while Barbara probably won’t be Harley herself, she’ll be the reason why Jerome creates Harley at some point in the future.
Barbra as inspiration for Harley Quinn, I think I love that Headcannon!!!! I can definitely see Jerome creating Harley as a tribute of sorts for Barbra!

Yup. Basically, I’m seeing it as he’s totally crushing on Barbara, but she’s totally not interested, because she’s into Tigress instead, (check the way Barbara is almost hyperventilating as she watches Tigress kill that guy, and it looks like they’ll be making out in the next ep). I’m thinking that being shunned by Barbara will scar him, and so when Harley comes along, and she actually shows some interest in him, he’ll see to it that she gets twisted into his Babs2.0 who is devoted to him. The Barbara/Jerome stuff allows them to play around with and hint at that Joker/Harley dynamic, without straight up labeling it as such, (which I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t be allowed to do because Suicide Squad movie).
I recall cast and crew interviews saying that Gotham was basically re-inventing itself this Season.
They’ve been saying it’ll be more serialised, and you certainly get that impression from the season premiere, that they’re setting up some ongoing storylines.
–Why is Selena working for Penguin?
Saw an interview with Camren where she said that Selina’s trying to figure out where she belongs, so I think she’s just trying on being in Penguin’s gang as a part of that. I hope we get to see her doing some stuff independently too though. Frankly, my fave thing about her being there was Penguin’s line about having a cat around, because Robin Lord Taylor is a HUGE cat person, which I adore about him, and I can imagine him giggling when he read that line in the script. 😉
–The ending is rather horrible cliche in terms of writing, but more or less expected since Baby! Batman is in fact…Batman
Cliche though it may be, I really loved that ending, it kicked me right in the FEELS. David Mazouz is a great little actor, and the way his voice wavered as he read his father’s letter made me want to reach into the screen and hug him. Then it gets to the bit about, “Unless you feel a calling, a true calling,” and the way David delivered that part, I felt like suddenly I wasn’t looking at a sad boy any more, he’d changed into Baby!Batman. And I liked how they cut to Jim, because he’s got that calling himself, and until Bruce is old enough, it’s on Jim to try and be the caretaker of Gotham, no matter how unhappy and dark that effort is gonna be for him.

There is also a classic oldschool Adam West movie where Riddler Penguin, Catwoman, and Joker team up against Batman and Robin.

September 24, 2015 at 4:57 pm #308400WickedRegalParticipantMorena Baccarin (Leslie) & Ben McKenzie (Jim) Are Together In Real Life, And Are Expecting Their First Child Together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so happy for them!
Holy Gotham! Morena Baccarin is pregnant and expecting a baby with her Gotham costar Ben McKenzie, both of their reps confirm to US Weekly.
Baccarin, 36, and The O.C. alum, 37, play Dr. Leslie Thompkins and Detective Jim Gordon, respectively, on the series Gotham. Their characters are also dating and living together.

Considering this is pre-batman Gotham, I think they could still do a pre-Harley Quinn Harley Quinn without upsetting the Suicide Squad movie. Jerome has not established himself as the Joker yet, Bruce isn’t Batman yet, so there’s no way they could do a fully fledged Harley Quinn.
I have a headcanon on how they could do it. Basically, it’s a hostage situation right before Jerome’s capture, he takes a wealthy family hostage and is using the daughter as an insurance policy. However, there is an attraction between the daughter and Jerome and a hint that the daughter may have a slight hint of craziness about her. The name Harley Quinn is never said outright. We’ll have the GCPD talking about the hostage situation with the “Quinn family” and then towards the end of the episode we find out the daughter’s name is Harley when she tells Jerome her name. Then you’ve got your nudge nudge to fans for the partnership yet to come, and you’ve also got your motivation for why Harley became a doctor and interned at Arkham and happily took on the Joker’s case. She’s been obsessing over him ever since they first met and would explain why she so quickly gave up her successful life to be by his side.

Keeper of FelixSeptember 27, 2015 at 12:52 pm #308492PriceofMagicParticipantSo the UK isn’t going to get Gotham season 2 until 2016.
One of the funny moments of last episode is how Sionis sent Jerome over to Barbara to ask if she wants to be his friend.

Keeper of FelixSeptember 29, 2015 at 11:04 am #308734PriceofMagicParticipantThis was a brilliant episode.
The Maniax (why couldn’t they spell it properly? they had the extra guy) stuff was pure gold. Jerome is so obviously going to be the Joker (if he’s not then the writers have seriously screwed up). He does seem to be channeling Heath Ledger’s Joker in places this episode though. I’d prefer them not to go the Dark Knight route but keep Gotham as it’s own self-contained universe. I get the feeling that Jerome is going to become a loose cannon in later episodes.
The Red Band trailer actually spoiled some stuff from future episodes as well as this one which surprised me.
Also surprised by the fact that, considering we’re only on the second episode, of the six Arkham inmates, we’re now down to 3 surviving: Jerome, Barbara and the big tall bald guy.
Barbara didn’t have much to do this episode, neither did James’ Frain’s character or his sister, or Leslie, or Bullock or Riddler. Penguin was absent, as was Selina. It was very much a maniax episode which actually isn’t a bad thing.
Gordon’s role in this episode was centred around the maniax storyline so you can see how that is starting to fizzle away especially with the Barbara connection and the fact that Jerome killed Essen.
The weakest part of an otherwise very strong episode would be the Bruce storyline. It had no connection to the main story of the episode and felt like filler just to remind the audience of Bruce’s ongoing journey. Bruce and Gordon only shared one scene this episode but it didn’t feel natural. Alfred broke the secret computer to protect Bruce from its contents so Bruce fired him then told Alfred that he was either with him or against him. Alfred is getting Lucius Fox to fix the computer then takes Bruce to the crime scene of a massacre just so Bruce can give Gordon a hug.
I’m giving this episode a 9/10. Had it left out the Bruce stuff and focussed purely on the Gordon/Maniax stuff, I would’ve given this episode full marks.

Keeper of FelixSeptember 29, 2015 at 3:01 pm #308747WickedRegalParticipantI’m still amazed at the most recent episode….
The Maniax are super insane….they basically went and killed almost every police officer, even the commissioner! Ummm….wow….A new day has come indeed…for the villains!
Gordon is going to need Penguin’s help….Penguin maybe a snitch who lied and cheated his way to the top but he will defend it at all costs. This is really a job for the Penguin. Sometimes you’ve gotta fight crime with crime.
And Gordon needs to start teaching Leslie some self-defence, I mean she handled herself pretty great against Barbra the last go round, but it seems Barbra is getting some training herself.
Poor Bruce….he wants so badly to be a man and step up to the plate, hopefully Alfred can teach him everything he needs to know.
