I admit, the scene where Penguin and Butch blow Galavan up with a bazooka was a guilty pleasure moment for me. It was so cheesy and ridiculous, but I just couldn’t help but laugh with glee. Especially with that rockin’ music in the background. I also loved how Gordon, Bruce and Alfred were just left speechless at what they had just witnessed.

*nods*
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 10, 2016 at 5:01 pm #323386thedarkonedearieParticipantGosh this episode had so many flaws. Nygma getting out through a vent in his cell…please. More people taking knife wounds to the gut and living. Bruce and Alfred splitting up. All of a sudden I should care that Butch likes Tabitha….why? Haven’t seen any of this. Rehashing story lines with Galavan. Yuck. Firefly reveal…snooze. Let’s see some fish mooney.
Liked-
– Nygma is always great.
– Was that Killer Croc?
– Bruce friking ran over a guy with a car!
– A BAZOOKA. That is all. The music was darn right hilarious. But I kind of loved all of it. Penguin would know what to actually use to kill Galavan. Just showing up and being like, “Yeah you morons. Step aside. I’m back.” I kind of wished Penguin shot it instead of Butch but still, it was hilarious and awesome all at once.
Tonally this episode was all over the place. Entertaining still sure, but I honestly do not know where this roller coaster is going and we only have two episodes left.

General: I won’t lie; I got rather distracted this episode so I don’t have a huge analysis but I will say…I like that the big characters are working together instead of having their own separate missions. Baby!Batman is easier to deal with when he’s part of a group (ironic given his lone wolf status as an adult?)
I also like how identity of the characters is finally being built a bit more slowly. Baby!Batman should make mistakes; he should falter (for heaven’s sake, he’s 15! He’s not actually the Dark Knight yet). And being reminded of his human problems (endangering the lives of friends recklessly) is a good way to remind us that he’s not yet Batman.
It’s interesting, speaking of identities, that Strange is giving his creations mythic identities; like he’s filling in the blanks with archetypes (war goddesses!) because they are easier to grasp and hold on to than the more complicated real people personas. It’s just not well executed in all cases when these new archetype-filled people speak because the show doesn’t excel at dialogue in general.
LIKED
–Harvey being the Captain is a blessing to mankind. “So, he’s….dead.” “Until literally someone else wants the job.”
–“We need to gather the court.” LIKE THE COURT OF OWLS?! *half an hour later* YAAAAS. Court of Owls!
–Seriously freaky effects for the stretchy-face.
–“How much more damage could we do? She’s dead.” Attaboy, Strange. Live that trope to its fullest.
–“My name…is Fish Mooney!” I never liked Fish, personally, because of the sheer over-the-top, scene chewing that is Jada Pinkett Smith. But the delivery of this line (and the idea behind it) is perfect because a character that hams it up as much as Fish does WOULD remember her own identity. She’s 1000% comfortable in her own skin so her identity isn’t as flexible as others.
–Oddly enough, I really enjoy the Baby!Batman and Dr Strange moral relativity conversation. It was tense and highlighted some of the themes of the arc.
–Miss Peabody’s “ain’t got no time for this” is lovely and I’d like a scene with her and Harvey please. The moment when she goes “oh no” in a total deadpan and then walks away leaving Strange to the Owl was priceless.
–“It’s totally part of the story!” Selina gets how religious narratives work. Good for her, street urchin that she is.
–Wut? A clone of Gordon complete with a wig!? Wut? Someone….explain?
DISLIKED
–“You are a sacrifice to the goddess of fire!” A character I had totally forgotten about comes out saying the most ridiculous manner of stuff possible. Off to a good start, here.
–I keep forgetting that Lucius Fox is actually a character on this show; deeply underused when he should be there with Baby!Batman, along with Alfred.
–The guards at Arkham just let Jim casually stroll in because of a lie without even checking on anything? It doesn’t raise their red flags at all?
–Not enough Nygma. (though, “I think you’re not quite grasping the power dynamic here…Turtleneck” was almost made up for the lack of Nygma)
–Magical light up garbage can! That’s something we’ve never seen on OUAT
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 16, 2016 at 11:38 pm #323998MatthewPaulModeratorThere seems like an awful lot left to do in the Season finale. Knowing Gotham, chances are they’re either going to rush things, or purposely leave a good chunk unresolved for Season 3.
May 17, 2016 at 12:17 am #324000MatthewPaulModeratorOn another note, I’m still crossing my fingers that Jerome will be resurrected by the end of next week’s finale. That’s my number one wish for this show right now. The character still has potential, and let’s face it pretty much the entire fandom wants him back. He really did die too soon. His return would also open up the possibility of him still being the future Joker.

Clayface!
Which I totally called when his face went all stretchy.
At first I was like, “Milk?”.

Honestly, I’ve never been a fan of “lone wolf Batman.” Maybe, it’s because I grew up on reruns of the Adam West series. Nevertheless, Batman needs that support system that is the Bat-Family.
Gotta say, I loved this episode. Ironically, for many of the same reasons as RG (although I am a Fish-fan). Also agree that Lucius is underused on this show. As for the Nygma thing…I think this particular episode had the right amount of Ed. It’s all to set up the next episode. Perhaps if next week’s had also aired tonight…

Most likely, the latter. I’m guessing the CoO will be the S3 plot.

I’m confident he’ll be back. I even made a mock-up.
Also noted, Fish has Kilgrave powers, and Hugo poured tea, which BD’s character did in Jurassic World.

There’s so much to wrap up! Is Strange going on to S3? Or is he gonna die? Where’s Penguin? How many more “creatures” will be brought back by Strange? Where’s Barbara? How big a role will the Court of Owls play in S3? Will we see Jerome? Will Selina get away from Firefly? Is Leigh really just gone?
Clayface!
Thanks for that!
Most likely, the latter. I’m guessing the CoO will be the S3 plot.
And hopefully (hopefully) they take their time with CoO and let them be arc villains and not just an episode or two
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 17, 2016 at 8:59 am #324015RumplesGirlKeymasterFinale promo. Yeah, the CoO will be the big bads for S3 (hopefully all of it….well, them and Talon)
Or I could see the show putting the CoO on ice for 3A while letting Baby!Batman and Jim figure out what exactly the CoO is; meanwhile the new host of Villains (Mr Freeze, Penguin, Nygma, Firefly should she survive, Fish, Jerome, Clayface, who knows…Scarecrow too!) plague the city on a week to week basis. Then s3B turns to the CoO more properly.
Any guesses on how they’ll title s3A? Gotham: Take Over of the Villains? lol
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 17, 2016 at 1:24 pm #324037thedarkonedearieParticipantSo yeah I enjoyed the episode mainly because we have now met my favorite villain: Clayface! I just hope they don’t bring him on just to make him look Gordon for the finale to do stuff, and then just kill him off. I continue to love Nygma, although I really would like to see his green suit soon! And after the episode, I was kinda of convinced that Strange would survive this season. But in the promo, it seems Penguin is not happy. Perhaps at the resurrection of Fish? It could actually be Penguin who kills Strange. But you’re right. There is so much that needs to happen so I am very worried they aren’t going to deliver. Or they are going to carry over stuff, which I hate. Like where is Leigh? How can they bring back these dead characters and not bring back Jerome? What’s up with Barbara? Is the bald captain guy really dead? Court of Owls now? Really? we were also promised not only Clayface, but also Mad Hatter before the start of this season. Still waiting on the latter. The whole Selena thing. Gosh that was just the worst part of this episode. But hands down, the best part, other than Clayface for me, was the conversation between Bruce and Strange. Great acting by both of them. Bring on the plot heavy, action-packed finale! Oh and is that guy who wanted to eat Nygma supposed to be Killer Croc? If so, there seems to be too many potential villains in the hands of Strange to just kill him off now. My instinct says he’ll survive and move his facility. Or Penguin kills him. Like we can’t have Fish back and not have Penguin meet her.
