Jamie Chung will be appearing in Season 3 as Valerie Vale: http://tvline.com/2016/06/20/gotham-season-3-jamie-chung-valerie-vale-cast-fox/

Guess we won’t be seeing Mulan back on OUAT for a good while, which I wasn’t expecting either way.

Same. Glad she got another gig, though.

It’s possible “Valerie Vale” may have a connection to Vicki Vale, one of Batman’s love interests in the comics.

According to TVLine, Valerie is Vicki’s aunt.

“Following an encounter with a monster from Indian Hill, Ivy Pepper finds herself reborn, and one step closer to the DC villain she is destined to become: Poison Ivy. Now a 19-year-old woman who’s harnessed the full power of her charms, she sets her sights on Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).”

That doesn’t make a lick of sense unless they are doing a massive time jump. Like, several years.

I’ve been meaning to answer @darkonedearie about why I find this rapid age up and sexualization of Ivy in Gotham to be disturbing so I’ll do it now. You’re absolutely correct that Ivy is heavily sexualized in the comics (and whether continuing that portrayal is okay given how far culture and society have come since the first publications of Batman is a debate for another day….)

What this says about the show and the writers is that they can’t think of any other storyline for this young girl (who has only ever been mostly background fodder) than to make her into a sexual object. Like, is there really nothing else they could write to help explain how this child interacts with the world that causes her to become Ivy from comic lore other than to turn her into a sexual being? It’s like…women can only become fully realized and given narrative weight if it somehow ties to their sexuality and how men (a show written by men, based on comics written by men…) view women.
