Yup to everything above. Jim and Mulan actually have great chemistry. But I fear he does love Lee more because I agree, he knew if he said Lee, then Mad Hatter would shoot Mulan. One thing I didn’t love was the mad hatter telling riddles. A lot of what he did in the episode reminded me of what the Riddler does which is why I loved what was going on. Giving choices, multiple tv screens, riddles…but it makes me think we will never see Ed do these things. And there has to be something up with Isabella. Perhaps a ploy from Butch to get back at Ed. She just looks way too much like Ms. Kringle and I don’t think they would just introduce the Penguin Ed love story and crush it so quickly like that. Again, I think it’s Butch who found her.

"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"October 31, 2016 at 9:34 am #329545thedarkonedearieParticipantOMG that was amazing. The final line Penguin says is hilariously…..”I make it a policy not to gossip about staff but,”…..hahaha. So great.

Oh yes. Absolutely. Must have.

Overall I liked this episode. The dreams were creepy as all hell and I thought the reveal of Gordon’s father was good and then the twist that he’s the head honcho with the court of owls was surprising. Crazy Barbara is always great but minus points bc it seems Mulan is gonzo from the show.

GENERAL: It’s so strange for me to be legit excited about sitting down to watch Gotham. This is a show I almost gave up on multiple times and this year I find myself looking forward to it. Overall, I really liked this episode. The entire Mad Hatter arc has been solid from start to this (maybe) finish. The show sometimes takes itself too seriously–pretty much anytime it has Gordon wrestle with his morals about protecting Gotham vs being a good man–and that gets tedious. I like this zany, almost animated feel even while they hit those same beats about Jim and his inner demons.
LIKED
–“You get a girl shot and you don’t even bring her booze.”
–Glad to see that we were right about why Jim said “kill Lee.” Poor Mulan, though. Someday that girl is going to find a happy ending!
–“You have exquisite femurs.” Oh Ed. Such a romantic.
–Robin Lord Taylor delivers the “I make it a policy to not gossip about staff but…* line perfectly.
–Oswlad freaking out over Ed being gone for 12 hours followed by a giant hug. Guys, Nygmobblepot makes my insides cry tears of joy. (only be dashed and killed moments later by Ed not seeing straight thanks to Isabella).
–“…and the lights ON.” LOL Alfred
–“We all know fun isn’t your forte” Truer words about Jim Gordon have never been spoken. There’s probably a lot to analyze in Jim’s visions but I think the main takeaway keeps with what we’ve always known–Jim wants to be a hero, a good man, but finds it hard to do such without bodies piling up around him and the guilt that comes along with that knowledge.
–The entire conversation between Jim and his dad in the car was ABSOLUTELY foreshadowing to all of Batman. I like when the show goes that route and has those moments happen to characters other than Baby!Batman.
MIXED
–I often complain that the show doesn’t know what to do with Harvey but having him call out Jim for being a cop without wearing a badge was great. If the show could start incorporating him more that would be welcome since Donal Logue does such a fantastic job with the very limited role.
–Barbara being so prevalent in Jim’s visions makes me wonder where the show is going with these two.
DISLIKED
–Bye bye Mulan? Sad. I’d have liked her to stick around a bit longer.
–We interrupt our trip to Jim’s subconscious to bring you Baby!Date. As per usual, when the show shifts to Baby!Batman and Baby!Catwoman I lose a bit of interest. (Okay, a lot of interest)
–I really dislike Isabella and not just for Nygmobblepot reasons (ok, a lot of my reasons are Nygmobblepot) but there’s something so…off about her. She’s either a CoO plant or one of Strange’s monsters.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 3, 2016 at 2:33 pm #329743thedarkonedearieParticipantSeriously this season has been quite enjoyable. Having a good villain goes a long way. And it hasn’t been just an episode or a couple episodes. It’s been more than a few which has been nice. It’s like a great middle ground between Galavan and The Ogre. I do hope his story is not over thought. The Mad Hatter has been great and for him to just get captured by Barnes was kind oi anti-climactic.
November 3, 2016 at 8:21 pm #329756MatthewPaulModeratorI agree that Season 3 has been really good so far, and could be Gotham’s strongest Season if the trend continues. I don’t think the Mad Hatter’s story is over. He’s still in the promo for next week’s episode, and he’s actually a credited series regular. So I don’t think Hatter is one of those villains they only have for 3-5 episodes, only to get quickly tossed aside.
In other news, FOX released details about their winter schedule, and there are a few interesting things about Gotham. It seems like the first batch of episodes will probably end with the 11th episode at the end of the month. But instead of having one long winter hiatus like last year, we’re instead getting two hiatuses. FOX plans to air more episodes in January, with the winter finale airing on January 30th. Then they will air 24: Legacy in Gotham’s timeslot starting on February 6th, following a special premiere airing after the Super Bowl on February 5th. 24: Legacy will air for 12 episodes, which would mean Gotham returning in late April. This is a pretty odd scheduling choice, to say the least:
