I think Ed knows it was Oswald; he’s just messing with him.

This is what I’m seriously hoping.
November 22, 2016 at 3:42 pm #330611thedarkonedearieParticipantJust wanted to say I thought this may have been the weakest episode of the season. Utterly predictable with Nygma and Butch and Tabitha.
And who on Earth is Falcone’s son? Is he a villain in the DC Universe? Is he Solomon Grundy? Was he infected with Alice’s poison? And who on Earth kisses somebody goodbye like that? Eye roll. Ivy continues to bother me as she simply is being used for plot purposes to move the Court of Owls story to where it needs to go. How does she even know anything about plants? This season is starting to go down hill fast with the exit of Jervis Tetch.
The only good thing was Carmine Falcone being a boss, otherwise, this episode blew.
November 24, 2016 at 10:14 pm #330654RumplesGirlKeymaster3×10 “Time Bomb” thoughts!
GENERAL: You’ll notice that most of my likes are catchy one-liners and very little to do with plot. I agree with @thedarkonedearie in that as the season get further from Mad Hatter the poorer it’s getting. There are still good moments–Penguin’s story is still watchable, or at least more watchable than it was last year. I still really enjoy Nygmobblepot, even if it’s not going to ever go in the direction I want. In short: we went from me being excited and eager to watch episodes to once again being okay if it’s days before I watch my recording.
LIKED
–“This meeting is for grownups so I’m going to need you to leave.”
–“Love makes people do crazy things!” Coming from Oswald, pretty telling line.
–“Just eat it, will you!” Alfred used to really bother me but his snarky “ain’t got time for this” relationship with Selina is hilarious.
–“Keep an eye on Mario!” *beat* “Don’t look at him!”
–“Who said anything about a woman?” I like that it’s Barbara who figures everything out. I’m not sure it says anything bad about Nygma’s character (he is supposed to, objectively, be the smartest villain) but rather that he can’t conceive of disloyalty in Oswald.
–The plot of Nygma and Butch might be really mediocre but there’s no denying that Cory Michael Smith sells the heck out of it (also might developing a slight celeb-crush on CMS). He and Robin Lord Taylor are both breakouts as far as I’m concerned.
MIXED
–I wish the show had moved more seamlessly from the Mad Hatter to the Court of Owls without going into the Barnes and Mario territory. The CoO story is taking forever when it should be the natural inheritor of the narrative given Tetch/Indian Hill.
DISLIKED
–How did Ed even find Butch when he was unable to for so long?
–I’m finding Ed’s devotion to Isabella…lacking. With Kringle we had an entire season and a half to watch him fall in love and obsess over her before killing her. Kringle being Ed’s motivation for turning into a killer made sense; Isabella was literally a broadly-drawn plot device whom Ed knew for less than a week. The idea that he’d turn to the level of torture he does against Butch and Tabitha is unsound, narratively speaking. Now, if they want to go with “Ed’s actually insane who revels in blood and mayhem and will find any excuse for an outlet” then okay, I think that works (we saw his downward spiral in S2 after killing Kringle) but they didn’t go that route which makes me question Ed’s character.
–Machete-wielding motorcycle murderers. That’s new.
–Am I supposed to care about Mario? Or Tabitha?
–Ivy. Just…Ivy.
–OMG I don’t care about Lee and Jim. And yes, I am a broken record on this topic but really…don’t care! (Also, is Morena leaving? I heard she got a new gig on NBC?)

Please god, yes.

*sigh* I’m gonna have to change my profile picture, aren’t I? Why can’t I have nice things??
GENERAL: You know what? In spite of all the Nygmobblepot angst and heartbreak, I really liked (kinda loved, actually) this episode. I wish the CoO story was getting where it’s going with answers a bit faster, but the season has felt nicely cohesive–Indian Hill to Tetch to Alice’s blood, all of which ties back to whatever the CoO is doing with Fake!Baby!Batman and the other inmates. Barnes isn’t exactly an outlier but he doesn’t fit as nicely as everything else or maybe it’s just that his story wasn’t anywhere near as compelling as the others. I’m really hoping that Gotham has found its sweet spot and will stay with this kind of storytelling post break and into S4.
LIKED
–“There will be another dead body tomorrow!” In Gotham, there’s always another dead body.
–Ed in his green suit. Yeah, the crush is real.
–“Did you just fake-cough Penguin?” The entire Barbara/Ed scene was fantastic. The show did good when they made Barbara a crazy nut job.
–The Mad Hatter got himself a paper mache hat to go with his Arkham jumpsuit. Bless.
–Jim Gordon sucks at making riddles.
–The “business partners” conversation with Ed and Oswald…there goes my heart shattering into a million pieces. I’m a masochist. I KNEW this would end badly but it didn’t stop me from shipping this so hard.
–“You’re my best friend as well, Oswald. Remember that.” LOOK, I DIDN’T ASK FOR THIS. I DON’T DESERVE THIS.
–Usually I’m very blah on Jim and Lee but the “please don’t marry him” moment was actually quite sad/sweet/moving. There was actually some chemistry and heart there.
–Lee’s wedding dress is stunning. Morena is such a classic beauty.
–Selina walking on that tightrope…it’s like she’s a cat or something (wink wink)
–“I want to take away everything he loves.” But that’s you, you silly man! See there’s something going on here. Ed has to be playing some sort of game. That’s what the Riddler does!
MIXED
–Will Lee actually believe that Jim was protecting her? The knife going into the river seems like a sign we’re not done with Jim/Lee drama. That’s not exactly a good thing.
DISLIKED
–Holy anticlimactic storyline, Baby!Batman. The magic safe opens and reveals…a statue?
–I’m not sure I care all that much about Selina’s mother?
MISC. THOUGHTS
–OMG! Have you guys seen the promo for Spring?!?! JEROME IS COMING BACK!

My favorite villain coming to life. Yes.
“Did you just fake-cough Penguin?” The entire Barbara/Ed scene was fantastic. The show did good when they made Barbara a crazy nut job.
Agreed. When they are together in a scene it’s pretty great.
The Mad Hatter got himself a paper mache hat to go with his Arkham jumpsuit. Bless.
Also loved this. Although the convenient truth telling via riddles was well…..convenient
sually I’m very blah on Jim and Lee but the “please don’t marry him” moment was actually quite sad/sweet/moving. There was actually some chemistry and heart there.
I too enjoyed the church scene.
Will Lee actually believe that Jim was protecting her? The knife going into the river seems like a sign we’re not done with Jim/Lee drama. That’s not exactly a good thing.
What a horrible ending. This drama needed to end. Now we are going to go through more episodes of Lee thinking Gordon just murdered Mario. Of course the knife fell in the water. Of course Mario was behind her and fell off when he was shot. Of course Gordon had the perfect shot at him but Lee couldn’t see what happened. Yuck all around.
Holy anticlimactic storyline, Baby!Batman. The magic safe opens and reveals…a statue?
ever since they introduced The Court of Owls, that story has blown. What a dumb anticlimactic end to their little quest. And Selina’s mom? Uhhh who the heck cares.
But ok that promo…..YESSSSSSSS. And I will say I liked that Selina gave Bruce a kiss on the cheek before tight roping and I’m glad Alfred was the one to kill the Talon guy. I also enjoyed seeing Bruce wield some gadgets. But overall, really wasn’t that impressed. I guess everything was cohesive in the sense that everything really came back to Alice’s blood but I guess I just didn’t like the story they were telling. I hate the whole Court of Owls thing and I hate the Gordon/Lee drama. So naturally I didn’t love the episode even though there were parts that I liked.
December 7, 2016 at 3:00 pm #331674RumplesGirlKeymasterSome fun news for @thedarkonedearie and I 🙂
–episode 3×15 is titled “How the Riddler Got His Name” and is apparently heavily Ed centric. I actually clapped.

OH MY GOD YES. Although, they did something similiar to this in season 1 when they had an episode titled “Penguin’s Umbrella,” and I thought we were going to get the backstory to his umbrella with all the gadgets in it and how he came to possess it. But then we didn’t. So hopefully, this isn’t a trick and we actually get an amazing Nygma episode.
