nobody really dies in Gotham.
That is certainly true. He’ll vanish for a few episodes and then mysteriously return, just in time for Baby!Batman to put on his hood again.

Everything we saw last season…the court of owls…the old trainer guy…all was supposed to lead to Rhas Al ghul. And all he wanted was for Bruce to kill him. Laughable. Butch as Solomon Grundy is hilarious…I guess in an entertaining way. What do you guys think Rha’s Al Ghul did to Barbara? Could that have something to do with his expected return to the show?
October 30, 2017 at 11:58 am #343931RumplesGirlKeymasterFinally got to sit down with episode 4×06 “Hog Day Afternoon”
GENERAL: Ehhhhhhhh. We’re spiraling out of narrative control. I find none of this very interesting or watchable right now. There are too many plot lines (like, whatever happened to Scarecrow? And is the Ra’s plot totally done? Who is the actual villain this season?) and all of them are silly, and worst of all they are beyond watchable Gotham silly.
LIKED
–“It’s just gonna go to waste..” Victor Z. is one of the best parts of this slightly off kilter season.
–It’s a “get the shovel” kind of chat, lol.
–“What is this? What’s happening?” That’s actually my exact reaction when I see a hoard of children running toward me.
MIXED
–Good lord, Os. You never learn. Thinking Sofia Falcone is your “real friend” is idiotic. Ed was a real friend, someone you could actually trust who wanted you to be the best (murderous) version of yourself but Sofia is clearly playing you like a cheap fiddle. However, on the other hand, I fully expect Os to act like this because his psychology is to desperately cling to anyone who shows him even the slightest bit of love and attention.
DISLIKED
–“I’ll put you on a train back home.” Jim, I’m fairly certain you can’t dictate where Sofia goes and when? Pretty sure you two aren’t even really an item right now?
–I am 100% NOT here for this pigs head stuff. This sorta visual really freaks me out.
–I’m pretty bored with this Grundy subplot. Frankly, never found Butch to be all that compelling and now that’s he’s a penny version of the Hulk? Eh. I just want Ed to be Ed again.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"October 30, 2017 at 4:50 pm #343953Jiminy’s JournalParticipantYeah, this was the first episode of the season I didn’t like.
November 6, 2017 at 11:03 am #344214RumplesGirlKeymasterI did finally watch 4×7 “A Day In The Narrows” but I don’t have much to say:
–A better episode than the week before but I still think the show is spinning a lot of threads, none of which are particularly interesting. The continuing cop storyline is the best beat here and they are getting mileage out of the idea of Pax Penguina.
–What the heck was Os’s hair this week? It basically had a life of its own. Also, I’m totally over whatever is going on with him and Sofia Falcone.
–No Ed; even if his storyline is currently silly I still want Ed.
–I like Bruce breaking bad and rebelling a little bit because of how much pain he’s in. It’s a storyline with some more meat on its bones and the actor does well with it.
–Professor Pyg continues to be a big ol’ “eh” for me.

Did we really need a multi-episode arc on him? He really seems like he should have been a one off. He’s a serious downgrade from last year’s Mad Hatter, who deserved to be featured in multiple episodes.
November 9, 2017 at 9:00 pm #344340RumplesGirlKeymasterWatching 4×8 “Stop Hitting Yourself” live tonight!
LIKED
–Fake!Wrestling!Penguin (as played by Ed) is surprisingly on point.
–I love the way RLT plays the scene of Os finding out that Ed is aping him in the Narrows. He’s angry, obviously, but he also looks hurt. (Never gonna stop shipping it)
–“You need chickens.”
–Penguin teaching American youths how to be sociopaths is not a story I thought I needed until it happened.
MIXED
–Grundy is a boring story and character but points for having him rip off a guy’s arm and then beat the guy with it!
DISLIKED
–Another week, another “Jim is conflicted!” episode.
–The Tabby/Butch fight lasted for three seconds. Come on…milk it, Gotham!
–“Hey Firefly. You’re the only that stinks around here.” Wow that line.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 18, 2017 at 9:53 pm #344718RumplesGirlKeymaster4×9 “Let Them Eat Pie”
–Thank *god* this Professor Pyg arc is over. It ended horribly, being both boring and disgusting. Eating people pie….gaaaaah. Sorry, but maybe the worst mini-villain arc to date.
–“If you lead the people, they will follow.” Will they, Jim? Is that the lesson here? Are you sure?
–Every time Bashir al’Ghul’s name appears in the opening credits I wonder where that particular storyline is going and when it will get there.
–Honestly, there was no reason for Jim to not shoot Pyg when he had the chance. Pyg had the gun pointed at him–a cop likely with a bullet proof vest on, not to mention the out of show plot armor of being the lead character–and Harper, the lady copy, would have been fine.
–“Your father’s friendship saved me.” (Me: “And then he made you into his butler?” Sorry, Alfred. Lovely story and all but you got the short end of that stick…)
–Apparently kids on Penguin’s payroll have to adopt his crazy hairstyle. Poor Martin
–Is this happening? Is Pyg really singing a rendition of Cell Block Tango while serving people pies? Am I dreaming? (side note: honestly, Sweeney Todd was clearly the way to go for a musical shout out)
–“So these pies are–” “”Yup. People. These are people pies.”
–Okay, I do enjoy the meta commentary on Penguin being the most gluttonous of all Gotham’s wealthy given that Penguin in the comics is rather rotund.
–“Stop trying to be my father and be my butler. Clean this place up.” OUCH
