I hope Alfred is going to be okay.
Alfred will be absolutely fine, he’s still around when Bruce is active as Batman.

Keeper of FelixMarch 4, 2015 at 11:49 am #297539RumplesGirlKeymasterI didn’t think this episode was horrible. There was a very creepy strangeness with Miriam and Leob that works in a city like Gotham. “He looks just like a bird! Oh, I love birds.” Good Lord. Run, Penguin. I’m glad they gave Bullock something to do besides quips and snarky remarks. As much I enjoy those (sometimes) they haven’t given Bullock anything to do since the show returned so him turning out to be a surprise witness was a twist that gave him some more color.
Does anyone else think that the Gordon actor might be bored. There are times when I feel like he’s just reading lines in his head and not giving much of a performance. He is so stone faced. But I can’t tell if it’s part of Gordon’s act or if the actor is over the show.
Nygma once again is just fodder for the show and even though I find him quirky and interesting and would like to see him explored more, the show seems determined to just have him be Future! Riddler without giving him anything to do except be Future! Riddler. So the chick has a new guy? Great. Drop her and move on and give him a meatier storyline.
Very little Baby! Batman, but it was nice to see him and Selena reunite.
And then there’s Fish. Fish freaking Mooney. Who got herself a brand new eye! HUZZAH. Cause I care. (no, I don’t). The Doll Maker is pretty scary but the show has a habit of setting up really interesting villains, trotting them out for one episode and then having them vanish back into the mythos of the show. Also, read this some place else: does it make sense for the Doctor to keep his livestock, from which he harvests body parts, in a basement where they are starved, thus making the body parts less than desirable?? And…so they’re out on a tiny island…? Okay…?
Big plus of the night:

–Seriously, NO BARBARA
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 4, 2015 at 4:29 pm #297585MatthewPaulModeratorAnd here we thought Once Upon a Time was too fast, in regards to adding villains. Nope, Gotham gives Once a run for its money by cramming them all in a single Season. I agree that they should expand on the villains they already have. More Penguin is always a good thing, and I agree that I’d like to see more done with Nygma other than pine for Kringle. More focus on the other villains, and less on Fish, but of course they want to give Fish attention because she’s Jada Pinkett Smith, and they don’t want to waste the star power they have with her. I do wonder how much of their plan for Season 1 changed once they went from a 16 episode Season to an expanded full 22 episodes.
I agree that the episode overall was decent, but for the last episode before a long hiatus, I felt it could have been stronger. More corruption within the police force, and Gordon’s trying to put a stop to it. I guess they’re further building up that Gordon will eventually take over as Commissioner himself? I did enjoy Gordon and Bullock teaming up with Penguin, as that led to a fun dynamic between the trio. I think the Doll Maker himself is an interesting villain, but I agree that Fish’s part of that subplot is weak.
A 5 week hiatus is pretty rough. I’m surprised they didn’t take a week or two off in February like a lot of shows do, but I guess FOX really wanted to take advantage of February sweeps. The fact that we’re already at the 18th episode of the Season almost made me think they were going to burn through the remaining episodes and end the Season early by the end of March, but that’s not happening. I do hope the remaining 4 episodes turn out to be good.
March 5, 2015 at 11:24 pm #297723obisgirlParticipantThe doll maker man…omg, when I saw what he did to his own deputy…so wrong on so many levels. And the actor, I remember him from The Borgias. He was the cardinal who tried to repeatedly kill Jeremy Iron’s character. He plays a great villain. He’s creepy but interesting.
I’ll admit — I did not miss Barbara. So kudos to the writers for not adding a scene with her to the episode that has absolutely zero relevance to the plot.
Why do I feel like Miriam’s going to be become the Penguin’s girlfriend later one? It’s a perfect, twisted match. He looks like a bird, walks like one and she loves birds.
I’m curious where Fish’s storyline is going. She’s bad but I wonder if she’s going to redeemed somehow at the end of this season, like she’s going to save all the people on the island.

Sure, when she’s the only one still alive.

March 6, 2015 at 4:16 pm #297750MatthewPaulModeratorSo Fish may not be returning past Season 1: http://www.givememyremote.com/remote/2015/03/06/gotham-is-jada-pinkett-smith-leaving-the-fox-series/
Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised. Fish is not a pre-existing character from the comics, and Penguin has already overthrown her and taken over her nightclub. I feel she was mainly there for the sake of Penguin’s arc, but now her time is coming to a close. I do hope that she does at least return to Gotham by the end of the Season for one last chance of returning to power, but it will yet again end in failure.
Update: TVLine has posted their own update, claiming she is leaving: http://tvline.com/2015/03/06/jada-pinkett-smith-leaving-gotham-season-2-fish/
April 13, 2015 at 11:31 pm #301525Jiminy’s JournalParticipantWell, I wasn’t a big fan of tonight’s episode. It wasn’t worth that long wait.
Good:
• Rosa from OitNB was there.
• Bruce is becoming Batman. Get this kid a suit. The kind with a cape, not a tie.
• Fish is finally getting off that stinkin’ Island. In a Nightwing helicopter, no less.
• Yay, more Bruce and Selina working together.Bad:
• Yep. Selina just killed Reggie. Honestly, I’m not too sure he was going to tell, anyway. She literally just saw Bruce stop himself from killing him.
• Fifty Shades bandwagon, much?
• The hunter guy shot Fish. Why is there no bullet hole in the helicopter?
• Patchwork Jeffrey Combs in recap.
• The search continues for Allen and Montoya.
• Um, was Alfred undoing his own stitches? That wasn’t very smart.
• Yes, recap. Thank you for reminding me that Gordon is “cleaning up Gotham” by going corrupt.
• Apparently this whole Ogre thing is going to last for at least three episodes.
• Speakeasies are new to Gotham. And have liquor licenses.Favorite and least favorite parts are in bold.
3/10
April 14, 2015 at 9:31 pm #301648obisgirlParticipantI’ll admit, it was a joy to see Milo again. Peter Petrelli is so sexy, even as a serial killer, who’s only motivation for doing what he does is that he wants unconditional love. If this wasn’t a villain from Gotham, I’d almost think that he was a villain from Once.
Yay! Fish escaped with the rest of the inmates, but got shot. I think Fish will likely die before they even reach Gotham, which is sad but at least she’s going out as a hero.
I didn’t miss not seeing Barbara this episode, but she’s likely returning to the picture soon.

its too soon too soon
weeps
Loved my Fish
I do hope like Harley Quinn they add her to the Batman Mythos. She would be a fun comic book character with that blue and black eye, tiger claws and awesome hair! I think she will fit right in with the comic style artwork.
