One of the many questions I want answered in the spin-off is Grace’s mother. I know one of the major theories was and still is Alice, but cause of her love life I’m leaning away from that theory. But cause of Jeffersons hate for Wonderland and how he mentioned her mother in Hat Trick I believe Grace’s mom is in Wonderland.

How he summed up Graces mother makes me believe she still is alive, but just abanndoned them, and turned evil. Which brings me to my theory that the Red Queen is in fact Grace’s mother. Right now this is purely based on speculation, and I don’t know if we are going to get the answer, but right now she seems like the most notable option cause she has no love interests that we know of, is evil and not someone who would care for a child, is in Wonderland, seems power obsessed with magic which would lead me to think that she traveled with Jefferson looking for magic

If anyone has any other theories please say, I just thought it would be nice to have a place to discuss graces mother

I don’t think she’s on the released character list but I’d like to see the Duchess. She never makes it into these adaptions and with her pig/baby confusion she could easily have a backstory involving the loss of a child.

Interesting. Jefferson does say that Grace’s mother is “lost” not “dead” which is significant. I’m open to it. Just gotta figure out why she went evil.

I personally am still going with the theory that has been going around before this show was even announced that Alice is Grace’s mother. The casting even looks so alike.

Alice being Grace’s mother has always been a favorite of mine, but with it looking like Cyrus and Alice are TL, it really puts a kink in that. If the RQ is Grace’s mother, I think that’s a fascinating twist if I can’t have my original hypothesis.

I think the resemblance between the actresses who play Grace and Alice is uncanny and deliberate. So, Alice really could be Grace’s mother, IMO. My harebrained theory is that Cyrus might have disguised himself as Jefferson. He’s a genie and could, in theory, do a powerful shape-shifting spell. If Cyrus and Jefferson are one-in-the-same man, then Alice could be Grace’s mother. This would also be a way to get around the “recasting” issue and the fact that Sebastian Stan has such a full schedule. If Jefferson turns out to be Cyrus, then another actor could step in, which technically wouldn’t be a “recast” since Cyrus is actually a distinct character from Jefferson.

I’m part of a very small club who have never been on the Alice-is-Grace’s-mother bandwagon.

The casting for Alice does look similar to the casting for Grace. FWIW, here’s the side by side with Emma Rigby who is cast as RQ, and I see a similarity there too:

Seeing Grace next to the RQ and Alice has me leaning more toward the RQ as her mother. But I doubt we’ll get an answer this first season–they said at ATX that Seb is pretty busy and they’re not sure he can make time in his schedule.

Crack theory idea: Alice, in the books, has a sister. The sister always came across, to me at least, as snobby and mean, but not evil. However in the Onceverse, couldn’t those traits become evil. What if the RQ is Alice’s sister who disappeared a long time ago and became Queen. The RQ wants Cyrus for herself and is willing to do whatever it takes.

Oh, I like that! A & E really love a family feud, that’d be a nice way to keep the themes of OUAT still going strong in OUATinWL with a completely different take.
