I say yes, and that he’s chosen Emma — the heart with the greatest potential for darkness — to take his place.
Gold, in 4B, strikes me as someone who is no longer playing to win. I think he’s trying to make Emma mad, to trick her into plunging the dagger into his chest.
Testable prediction: Before the end of season 4, Gold will lose possession of the dagger to Emma, in a way that seems like good luck on her part and bad planning on his.

Yup. I think he’s aiming to die as well.

“If Gold did to me what he did to Hook, I’d want to shove that dagger through his heart, too.”
If this theory holds any ground, could that be foreshadowing?

Well spotted.
Did we ever decide what our “coffee” bet was going to be? We should. I get more confident every week

How on Earth could he assure Emma’s heart would become darkened forever unless she becomes the next dark one? But I seriously hate this idea of Black Swan. If they go this route, I’m soooo done.

March 24, 2015 at 10:57 pm #299790PheeParticipantMakes a lot of sense that this would be his goal. Torturing August could just be another part of him trying to get Emma mad at him.
Would he succeed though? Would they (#familyshow) show Emma Swan actually stab her son’s grandfather to death? Rumple killing Zoso is seen as a cowardly move, a huge moment of weakness, would they show the show’s big hero falling all the way from grace to make the same mistake their big antagonist did? I’d think it more likely that she’d come close, but would stop at the last moment due to something Henry does, and in doing so it’s a big ole’ mirror of the situation where Rumple did the thing because of his son.
March 24, 2015 at 10:59 pm #299791KebParticipantYeah, I think Henry will stop her. But I also believe this is all leading up to a moment when Rumple will have to choose to put Henry and Belle’s happiness ahead of his own somehow.

You mean the family show that killed the main kid’s father, showed drugs being shot up, and made penis jokes in the most recent episode?
Yeah, I think Henry will stop her. But I also believe this is all leading up to a moment when Rumple will have to choose to put Henry and Belle’s happiness ahead of his own somehow.
Sure. And given how the writers see Rumple, he’ll choose himself.

In regards to the whole Dark Emma subplot, I think she’ll come close to going dark, but will ultimately not give in.

And if it’s not a matter of her going dark as an alternative universe in which Emma is dark because her parents are villains?
Honestly I don’t think it’s far fetched *at all* that Emma is going to become some sort of anti savior before this season is done, however it happens and however long it lasts
And even if it doesn’t last, Rumple dying—completely in the realm of possibility with how he is being written (and Belle)
