Basically, Regina tells Snow that eating the apple would not cause her to die but fall into a deep sleep where her dreams would be filled with every regret in her life.

About Jefferson, i have a question (i don’t know where else to put it so i do it here):
Does he know about Rumpel/Belle?
At the end of the episode he frees Belle and tells her that she needs to seek out Mr. Gold for protection and tell him that Regina was the one who locked her away. Is that because he knew that Gold loved Belle so he would like to seek revenge on her? Or does he didn’t knew about the two and just wanted to unleash Gold on her?
Personally, I think Jefferson may have known about Rumbelle through his association with either Rumple or Regina (by keeping his ear to the ground)…it’s just an assumption of course…they haven’t really shown us much of Jefferson’s past except in Hat Trick. As for why he did it…I think the dialog points to him wanting Regina dead.
Regina: What are you going to do? Kill me? I know you want to, but I also know you can’t.
Jefferson: Do you?
Regina: Yes. You don’t have it in you. Now, if you excuse me, I have to save my son.And later when he was with Belle
Jefferson: My name is Jefferson, and I need your help to do something that I can’t. There’s a man. His name is Mr. Gold. Find him. All you have to do is tell him where you’ve been, and that Regina locked you up.
