why was Henry’s heart gold? is it a coincidence that Mr. Gold was named that in the curse? it’s funny, while I was obsessing over season three about four months ago I thought that Rumplestiltskin’s heart color would be gold and that the bad guys would take his heart instead of Henry’s and we’ll see this… Ha!

Neverland is the motherlode of all magic so i think it is fittting that the heart of the truest believer, who pan and neverland needs to absorb all the magic from is gold… plus silver wouldn’t look as effective on screen, gold is more magical and special looking.

I think they just wanted to make Henry’s heart look unique, and that was the most effective effect to show it. Though I do get a kick outta how it looks like it’s on fire, so maybe it’s a genetic thing from Nealfire. 😛 The “holding a ball of fire” look of it is similar to Regina and her fireballs.
Reminded me of Neil Young’s Heart Of Gold. I loved that the magic of Neverland was awakened from its golden slumbers by a heart of gold. However, I agree, Henry’s heart did look like a fireball. That golden hourglass resting on the golden skulls of the dead was an awesome set design.
