Hiatus Fun: A Pass-Around-Story

Do you want to take part in a little writer’s game during the long and painful hiatus? Then read on-

Watcher and I had the idea for a great hiatus project where we, all of us here on the Forums, write our own season 4 together. Each writer will take turn writing a post/chapter of the story and then he or she passes it on to the next writer hence, a pass-around-story. This thread is not the story starting, but just a thread to sign up in if you want to take part in the writing of Our Season 4. So when you answer to this post, you sign up for the chapter/post that you want to write (look for instructions below)

Theme of our story: Watcher and I talked in chat about, who we thought would be the season 4 villain and we came up with a fun idea. Jokingly we talked about how confusing the plot is and how many stupid plot holes there are. So I propose that plot holes and confusion is our “Theme” in other words- The Heroes (All the canon characters) need to deal with the Big Bad, which is what is screwing up their story, their lives. Our Big Bad will be our Villains, Confusius and Plot Devicius and the two story-writer-witches working for them Adam and Eddy (or Horrorwitch and Kisses) this way we can use our story to make fun of those plotholes that annoys us so much sometimes.

We need to agree on a title: I propose “Oh what Horrendous Confusion” You can propose a title in your sign-up post and then we all vote and agree before we start the story.

We start the story on Sunday 18th of May (or the Sunday after if we feel we need more time)and take of where the end of episode “There is no place like home” leaves us. One exception- if the big bad is revealed by name on the show, she/he will not be our big bad, but perhaps someone working for our big bad, because our big bad will be the villains described below under characters.

Rules:

1: keep it by the forum rules, which include- no sexual stuff and no foul language.

2: shipping is allowed (because what is a story without relationships?) but keep it so no shippers get hurt feelings. This means- no ship can be considered end game and shouldn’t be written as such, perhaps with the exception of Snowing. Therefor if one writer chooses to write a character as having a romantic relationship with one person, another writer CAN write that character as having a romantic relationship with a nother person, but please try to also make the switch plausible storywise if you choose to make that character “switch romance” Also to add to this “shipping-rule” since all ships are allowed it is NOT ALLOWED to get angry and start a word-fight with a nother writer, if you don’t agree with what they wrote in their part of the story.

3: If you have signed up to write a post and then when it comes to being your turn and you are maybe not around the forum anymore or real life is keeping you busy and you don’t upload your story post for a week, the next person in line may then continue the story, so we wait for you one week and if we don’t hear from you, then we carry on the story. Ofcourse, if you are in the process of writing and you just haven’t finished your post yet, just tell us and we will wait for you.

Storytelling rules:

1: First and most important is- you must continue the story that took place in the posts before you. so if there was a setup for something in the post before you, like a character saying they were going to fight the wicked witch at 6 oclock the next night, you must include that fight if your story takes place at that time.

2: You cannot undo everything the writers before you have created, just because you don’t like it, please try to carry on the story and use what the writers before you have set up, yes shipping can be a problem here, but I ask everyone to treat this as a shared story, even if it doesn’t turn out to be your dream-scenario for your favorite character, please just try to take good care of what the writers before you have created.

3: Strange and unbelievable plot devices are allowed, the stranger the merrier, this is a parody we are writing on how unbelievable we think the real show is, with their plot devices sometimes. Also read the character section below for why strange plot devices are welcome in our story.

4: No OUaT canon Characters must be murdered or die in our story. And the same goes for the additional characters that are based on real people, like Adam and Eddy. The only characters that are “fair game” are our Big Bads- Confusius and Plot Divisius and should we choose to include more characters that are not based on real people, these will also be “fair game”

Tone and setting: The story is a parody, parodies are funny so crack up some jokes if you can, but parodies can also be written with seriousness so don’t be afraid to go deep.

Characters: All current Once characters are ofcourse allowed. Other than that, only these ones that we agree on before hand can be included.(I will create an additional thread where we can agree on additional characters- This thread will be called “Pass-around-story Characters”)

Villains: Confusius and Plot Devisius- the evil and shady behind the curtain people- the Network people (the ABC Network). And other villainous characters will be Adam and Eddy, as the witches Kisses and Horrorwitch, perhaps also Jane- Wickedly Jane?… who also are the writers of Henry’s storybook (before we start the story, we talk this over in the thread “Pass-around-story Characters” and we agree on these additional characters and give them some traits, find out what their agenda is and so forth. Also if you have wishes for other characters to include you can propose them in that thread)I propose that our Villains main agenda is, to F’ up our Heroes lives by writing them bad stories, for their own amusement. To do this they have their bi..*cough*..witches (the story writing witches) write bad storylines with lots of plot holes. In The Book of Destiny aka Henry’s storybook. Our Heroes agenda will then be to try and break free of this and be able to write/make their own story and Destiny.

It’s a fairytale so we build it up like home-out-home

7 first posts are the ‘Home’ section, where we set up the story, we introduce characters, look at what our known Once characters are doing now with their extended family etc. Perhaps include a bit of coziness and the occasional Thanks Giving dinner at Granny’s. But also home is whatever situation they are in as we leave them in the last episode “There is no place like home” Here We also introduce our villains, but there must be a secretive factor about them so don’t reveal all their plans at once. We reveal what is going to be the obstacles for the heroes to overcome, and stuff happens that makes things worse for our heroes and they try to figure out what to do. Then something happens in the number 7 post that make our heroes go on the quest to set things right.

7 next posts are the ‘Out’ section, where we fight the big bads Cunfusius and Plot Devicius and their evil agenda (to tell bad stories and corrupt storyteller-witches like Adam Horrorwitch and Eddy Kisses perhaps?). Include magical sword fights, true love kisses and whatever you can think of. The 3 first of these posts must be trying to figure out a way to fight them but failing. The last post of the first 3, is the point of no return. The 4 last posts are fighting, winning and undoing the evil that these villains have cost.

The 3 last posts are the ‘Home again’ section, where our heroes are coming home, after having defeated the big bad (or not).. The three last writers has the final say on the end of the story, be it a happy ending or not.

If a lot of people want to take part of telling the story we can increase the number of posts to fit, or decrease if we don’t have enough signing up. Adding posts to fit the number of writers, will be done at the little star- * (look below at the post numbers) But you have to sign up before Sunday 18th of May, the day we start. If we end up only being, say three people signing up, we will just take one section each. One person can sign up for no more than 2 posts, so if you want to write one of the first seven posts in the Home section, you can do that and also sign up to write one of the last posts. But if you choose to only write one post that is fine as well ofcourse.

Sign up instructions:

I have created ‘post-numbers’ or codes for each individual post, so everyone knows which post they are going to be writing before hand and hopefully it wont end up a giant mess.

Below are the post-numbers/codes of the posts you can sign for, write your name and the post-number of the post you want to write (remember you can choose to sign for one or two posts) you have to check that no one has signed for the post you want, before you choose. It’s a ‘Who ever comes first’ deal, so first to choose gets first pick. Some posts also includes the ‘pivotal moments’ where the writer has to take extra special care of what happens in the story, it must be something that reaches beyond hers or his post in what it means for the characters. Also readers of these posts that are going to write the following posts must consider these moments and try to include them and what they meant for the characters in their own posts.

1 home, 2 home, 3 home(‘pivotal moment’ the villains and their power can no longer be ignored), 4 home, 5 home,*, 6 home, 7 home(‘pivotal moment’ the hero/heroes chooses to go on the quest)

1 out, 2 out, 3 out(‘pivotal moment’ point of no return), 4 out, 5 out,*, 6 out, 7 out(‘pivotal moment’ Our heroes wins (or maybe they just think they won))

1 home Again, 2 home Again, 3 home Again End(before signing for this one look at (Ps:) below)

Ps: If a lot of people want to join in and write the chapter ‘3 home Again End’ and tell the ending of the story, then maybe we can figure out a way for more people to write that and not just one, so if ‘3 home Again End’ is taken but you also wanted to join in and write that, just say so in your sign-up post and we will try to make it work (but this only goes for the End post, the others are taken when signed for)

And if you feel a bit lost about where to start or intimidated by all these rules and stuff, don’t worry and don’t let it stop you. Sign up and we will roll with it together and figure it out along the way. This doesn’t have to be perfect, it’s just us having fun together.

We start on Sunday May 18th. So more people have a chance to sign up before we begin. I think a limit to the lenght of a post is a good idea but 3 paragraphs is not very long, unless you write very long paragraphs..

How about no less than 400 Words and no more than 2000 Words ?

Also Wat, may I create the thread that we write the story in? because then I will start the thread with listing the chapters and the writer’s names, so everyone reading can always look to the first post for a clear view of how many chapters are left and such.

I always dreamed about something like this!!! I tried to do it once with people in a Percy Jackson forum but it never happened. This is such a great idea !

Sign me for 2 out. I have a lot of tests until the end of June so I think by the time I’ll need to write it I’ll have the time.

A few questions:

1)If I decide later that I want to write another post, will you agree?

2)What is the format of the posts? Is it a script or a story?

I’m going to go with…

3 home and 3 out (If I can). This gives me a good mixture of some of my favorite things in Once: the character moments and the action moments!

Oh, and a few questions:

1. Is it going to be home/out? Like, if someone writes a “home” chapter, does someone else right an “out” chapter after?
2. Can you bring people back from the dead?
3. Can you write Rumbelle as an endgame couple since they, well, kinda are…
