I have a theory about Hook and Mr Gold/Rumple….
It could be true that Hook wants to avenge Milah’s death, then I remembered Mr Gold/Rumple’s joy of hoarding all manner of strange things in his shop. Could one of those things turn out to be Hook’s hand that he sliced off?
I think it’s very possible that Mr Gold/Rumple will strike some sort of bargain with Hook, in exchange for using magic to re-attach the hand. How could Hook resist such a tempting bargain? To be a whole man again after so many years? After all, the hand could very well have been preserved all this time, and Mr Gold DID re-attach Dr Whales arm recently, didn’t he? Hook doesn’t have to lose his nickname if he were to suddenly find himself with both hands.
It’s just a theory…
[adrotate group="5"]November 30, 2012 at 7:39 am #162950becParticipantI thought this too, but then i thought that he would no longer be Captain Hook because his Hook is important for his character, its pretty much what makes him Captain Hook -unless he just goes back to Killian Jones.
In past fairytale land (i cant remember the episode, its the one where Rumple takes Belle to his castle), you can see in a scene a hand on a table behind Rumple. It could be Hook’s hand. Maybe he kept it for motivation to find Baelfire.
I think though for Hook to drop his revenge would take a much bigger deal, because he has been planning it for years.November 30, 2012 at 5:24 pm #162978oncewatcherParticipantFor Hook to drop his revenge, there would have to be a defining moment; a moment which highlights who he chose to become, and where that brought him. If Hook *thought* he succeeded in his revenge, then noticed it 1.) Didn’t bring back Milah, 2.) Didn’t bring him any satisfaction because he still felt that “hole in his heart” he had used her to fill and 3.) Maybe there was more to that need for something in his life, than Milah. Maybe something else was wrong. Then, realizing his life’s choices and where that brought him…what was absent from his life…..love. Real love. Not just the love of a woman, but his realization of the satisfaction that comes from loving ….and it’s retroactive on satisfaction with himself.
What would bring that about? On TVline, I wrote a suggestion for a story line. Now, I know the show’s writers are unionized and can’t use ideas from fans, but here’s an idea that who knows, could give birth to another:
Peter Pan is a young teenager (remember: In the story, he’s a boy of about 14 and nobody’s aged in storybrooke, in 28 years. Now the curse has been broken, and he’s started to age. Let’s say he’s 16 now). There are some good foster parents out there, but he’s a foster child who is in the care of some not-so-great ones (something Emma will identify with). Peter has been from home, to home, to home, and has gotten into a bad crowd. This crowd is into drugs, teen sex, and he’s already going to be a father…with a drug and alcohol addiction. And, he’s a cutter (cuts himself).
Peter ends up in the police station one day after school because of a drug sweep that found a crack pot in his book bag. Hook happens to be in the station when he is brought in. He and Peter recognize eachother, but don’t say anything to Emma. As the story progresses, Hook is hit by this because of memories from his own childhood. His father was abusive; addicted to alcohol and opium. His brother followed suit, and it ended up destroying his family, and eventually took his life. He has a personal connection to knowing the consequences of addiction. Nevertheless, Hook is still Hook. He feels like his great and worthy opponent was taken from him. He knows this is RS’s son but how can he use him, if the kid is strung up on drugs and alcohol. Hook tells Peter he’s going to to exactly what he says and how he says, or he’ll end up taking him out. As time progresses, Peter (Baelfire) learns RS is his Dad, and he wants nothing to do with him. Hook learns Peter needed a father figure and all he ever wanted, knowing that he loved his mother was for him to love Peter, too. Peter ran with this bad crowd, because he mistook their friendship for love. He didn’t get it. That’s what lead him into drugs. That’s what almost killed him. After the lesson of learning that his quest for revenge brought nothing to his life (before, or even after he only *thought* he succeeded), and after learning what happened to Peter, Hook feels convicted in a belief that he may have had a hand in this somewhere. Eventually as events progress, he even develops concern for the boy’s future; he, and Emma both do (that’s what unites them).
That’s not the whole story, but it’s the skeleton that could help become one. A good one, too. This is not exactly what I think the writers should use, but it’s an example to show there are lots of ideas out there. There’s more than one way to skin a cat, and nothing is impossible if you have the right writers.December 1, 2012 at 2:34 pm #163102gypsyParticipantUm, ok…..that doesn’t really sound the kind of plot line K&H would use for OUAT.
Bae/PP strung out on drugs? Crack pipe? Mmmm, nah, I can’t get on board with that.
Hook’s dad addicted to opium? His brother kills himself? Again, just don’t see it.
Especially because that is way too detailed to get into….the show is not centered on Hook. That goes waaay off, plotwise.December 1, 2012 at 9:29 pm #163129PriceofMagicParticipantWhat if Hook teams up with Regina and makes a deal with her? He’ll help her deal with Cora if she turns against Rumplestiltskin. Hook may be able to take hearts but Rumple is still more powerful than him with magic. Having Regina on his side will help even the odds for Hook.
Also, going back to the likelihood of Belle interacting with Cora now that Rumple said she’d never meet her, what if Cora takes Belle’s heart and uses her as a puppet in order to throw Rumple off his game. Just imagine Belle going full on trying to seduce Rumple.
All magic comes with a price!

I don’t think it should literally be used but having written fanfic in the past (the clean stuff, and it’s been a long time), I know sometimes someone’s idea can very easily give birth to another; even, if seemingly unrelated.
December 2, 2012 at 2:19 am #163188gypsyParticipantNot really bad, just, sounds like a totally diff show.
December 2, 2012 at 3:00 am #163191elleParticipantProbably a minority here, but I kinda hope that Captain Hook does not look for any redemption or soul-searching. Already the main villains last season went from being evil/highly manipulative to trying to redeem themselves and change for their loved ones. 🙂
It would be nice to have an antagonist that is not looking for change or redemption.

I agree…if they’re gonna be bad….just be down and out bad…period! 😉
December 2, 2012 at 5:43 am #163208evilqueenParticipantagreed, don’t need more villains trying to redeem themselves! (Regina is one and only exception but even I think she won’t make it)
I can’t even imagine Hook (or Cora) doing “the good” anyway…. -
