ParticipantThis is TINK’s interpretation. We don’t know enough of her back story but she seems to be really big on true love so to HER, choosing to not go to someone when you have proof they’re your soul mate IS ruining their life as well as yours.
I stand by my “they’re meant for each other but not until later and Tink is just overly ambitious and wants everything to happen NOW NOW NOW” theory. Robin was happy with Marian and he has Roland now. I don’t think he’s going to say it was ruined, albeit with a tragic point with Marian’s death. Regina will completely understand that because she lost Daniel which again, was before she knew anything about being soul mates with Robin Hood.
So I don’t see it as his life being screwed up by her choice. He has Roland, he seems alright, and NOW they will have something to legitimately bond over with their pasts, something he may not have understood back then with love and loss.
I totally get why people are upset that it’s set in stone now because they feel like it takes away the choice but I really think that WE THE AUDIENCE know but they don’t. It’s like watching early Snowing eps where we know they have to get together but we’re seeing it play out anyway. I don’t think Regina will see the tattoo right away and when she does it will either be a pleasant surprise or freak her out but it will still be her CHOICE as to whether she wants to pursue it and find out. After all, 40ish years ago she made the choice not to go in, even though Tink was promising her happiness and love.
It’s all about the choices we make along the way. Just because somebody can prove who a soul mate is doesn’t mean it doesn’t have to play out in a real way. Walking up and saying “pixie dust says we’re meant to be together” isn’t going to work. They’ll have their issues like everyone else does but it’ll be about them coming together in the first place, and then their fight to stay together. MOST of the couples on the show we’ve known going in who they were meant to be with and it’s fun watching it play out. I expect nothing less now that we know who Regina is meant to be with, except that we’ll mostly get to watch it play out in real time since they haven’t met yet!

This fits really well with Tink’s classic depiction: fairies are so tiny that they can only feel one emotion at a time. So Tink can’t stop to think of the consequences or think her plan through at all because all she sees is that she is trying to help someone.

Soul mates do not always end up together. Goodness gracious, shall we make a list of soul mates who have tragic ends or who only meet in the after life? My all time favorite book is Wuthering Heights. You wanna talk about tragic soul mates….
Now, ONCE is wholly different of course because A and E are VERY BIG on the Happily Ever After but they also recognize that pixie dust isn’t going to solve some issues here.

ParticipantOh, WR, that’s a great pic! I hate to admit that I’m this much into a Regina ship. Never thought this day would happen. 😈

I’m not sure what you mean? Which part isn’t true? I said stalker like traits, not that she was a stalker. And all the evidence I pointed to is in the show. And I don’t think she ruined Robin’s life at all. And I think Robin will tell her the exact same thing. I think Robin is grateful that Regina didn’t approach him–not because they aren’t meant to be together but because out of it came his son and his wife, both of whom he loves deeply. He will be grateful for the time he had with Marian and even more grateful for his child.
Robin is no doubt grateful to have Roland, but I can’t imagine that he is too happy to have lost Roland’s mother. The point is that if he had met Regina and had fallen in love with her instead, he might not have ever known Marian and would, therefore, never have experienced that loss, and he would probably be happier now than he is. I think that where the writers are trying to go with this is to say that Robin Hood was never supposed to be with Marian; he was supposed to be with Regina.
