HOW did SPENCER know where the HAT was hidden?

I think the silence from Blue is the biggest piece of evidence for the Dark Curse. I agree it’s very problematic. What on earth was she doing for those hundreds of years?! She’s supposed to be the greatest power in the world, and yet she couldn’t step in and prevent Rumple from finding this curse? Or from corrupting Regina?
I TOTALY agree that she’s been working with August and I get the feeling her memories came back way before the events of “Land Without Magic” but I think we really need an episode (or two) featuring Blue instead of just seeing her on periphery doing things that are not Fairy Like. 😛

The thing about the hat is…Spencer HAD to be informed by someone who was present in the mines. Spencer knew a lot of information that he in no way should have known, like the hat being a portal and that it was David’s only hope to bring MM and Emma back. Someone present at the mine when the diamonds were discovered had to have tipped off Spencer.

And I didn’t even think of it, but Ruby’s cloak is another excellent point.

By the way, who in the world would leave all that evidence IN THEIR OWN CAR? When smart characters do astonishingly stupid stuff is when I start thinking about plot holes. (Or in this case, a convenient way for the writers to inform the Heroes who the real Bad Guy was.) In any case it pulls me out of my suspension of disbelief.

A bad twist to all of this could be that the Blue Fairy predicted (or “glimpsed”) all of this and tipped off Spencer in order to set these events in motion. Her way of “fighting evil” without the aid of her fairy magic. But I don’t want to accept the Blue Fairy has gone Bad, so I’m finding ways to keep her on the side of Good.

Where has Nova been lately? Shouldn’t she and Grumpy be looking for each other? You’d think a guy that ugly would be sprinting around town searching for a babe like Nova or something 😀

I agree. George is a powerful guy, but we have no reason to believe that he knows about Jefferson or the hat unless someone told him. I can’t see the dwarves doing it. I really can’t. Grumpy would skin them alive if they had. Which leaves only two other people in the mines at the time: Henry and Blue. If it was Henry, I will find a hat and eat it. Blue, then. But WHY? Why wouldn’t she want Snow and Emma here?

Or possibly, why doesn’t she want to GO HOME? If she did turn evil, she’s about to have the power of fairy dust again so she might be a new enemy.

Good point. Why wouldn’t she want to go home? I wonder if she too has a hidden agenda about this world, like Rumple wanting his son. What could she possibly want? Any chance her heart is locked in EQ’s vault?

Blue Fairy may be innocent after all! In S2Ep5 “The Doctor” … at the beginning of the episode (right after David slugs Whale for sleeping with Snow,) this conversation happens:

Whale: So, is it true? People are saying that you’re trying to find a portal back to your land because that’s where you think Emma and Mary Margaret are; that they’re alive.

David: Well the whispers can stop. I have no secrets from this town. That’s exactly what I’m doing.

So there actually was prior common knowledge of David attempting to find a portal.

But Ruby’s cloak is still a mystery.

We’ve seen Red fight King George’s men multiple times in the past, so I suspect they’d have figured out a lot about her after a while.

I agree. I thought of that too while the hat was burning. Someone will stumble upon Emma’s hat (maybe Henry) and disappear. The rescue would lead to another storyline. Another possiblity is Emma using it to teleport travel in this world to look for someone or something for Gold.

as for Rubys cloak I have no idea.
but the hat. It was in the drawer at the police station. you see it the second before Spencer walks in. so david slams the draw. not locking it or anything. then later they break into the police station looking for Ruby. he could have easily just grabbed it then.
plus it wouldnt be hard to hear about the hat while everyone was celebrating and drinking at grannys. where Spencer was. if he hadnt heard abouot it prior.

Yup, Jolean, Charming was just being himself and didn’t really hide the hat properly.
Basically the scene goes like that:
Charming locks Ruby in the cell, she’s thanking him, while he walks towards the sheriff desk, opens the draw and chucks the cell keys in there, right on the top of the magic hat that is already in there. At this point the camera stays a little bit longer there, while David says he wants to find the person who really did it. And there comes “You already have” from Spencer who suddenly walks into the station – Charming didn’t even close the draw! Here you go, mystery solved. And to be honest, I don’t even think that Spencer might have noticed it but later on he did break in to the station so I’m sure he had plenty of time to search the place anyway! And what’s better place to start than Sheriff’s precious desk? Really, Charming, you couldn’t be less predictable…

However, Ruby’s cloak bothers me, either Spencer has someone helping him (whether he knows who it is or not – I have a feeling that perhaps Rumple or whoever just dropped this cloak at Spencer’s doorstep letting him figure out what to do with it) or he got hold of it somehow before the curse was cast – we don’t really know what Ruby was up to at that time – although I find it a lot less probable.
