Hi. I’ve been thinking about writing this for a while now (and yeah, I know it’s long, or at least it seems long in notes). Anyway, this is how I would imagine the rest of season 2.
1. Baelfire’s return: Maybe this would happen a bit later in series 2 when Rumple is less of a coward and has redeemed himself some more, but just outside of Storybrooke, a portal opens where Baelfire is when he went through it in the enchanted forest. It would go something like this:
Superior: Everyone. A portal is opening outside the borders.
Gold: A portal? It’s Bae.
Belle: Your son?
Gold: Yes. I can sense it. I have to go outside.
Belle: But, Rumplestiltskin, you know what happens if you leave the border!
Gold: I’ve made so many mistakes in my life. I want to be the first face my son sees?
Belle: At what cost?!
Gold: I have to do this. I have to prove to my son I’m not a coward.
Belle: He’ll know.
Gold: I don’t care!
(Tree near Gold burns down)
Belle: Why are you really doing this? You wouldn’t get so angry. I hope.
Gold: I need to prove to myself I’m not a coward.
Belle (Smiling weakly) : Selfish as always. I get it. You have to do this.
(Gold kisses Belle)
Gold: I will find a way back. I promise.
Belle (crying): You can’t promise.
Gold: I know. Maybe we both need to learn something from the Charming family.
Superior: If you really want to go, you need to go now.
Gold: very well.Everyone in the town wants to see this. They all watch Gold safely inside the borders.
Belle: Are you ready for this?
Gold: I am.
(Gold leaves the borders. Mother Superior points him to where the portal will open. Gold has powerful magic. The audience can see him fighting it. Then, after what seems to be a lifetime, the portal opens and a teenage Baelfire comes out of the portal, at the very same time that Gold loses his battle. He’s lost his memory.)
Baelfire: Papa? Papa! You’re here! I didn’t think you’d be here! Why do you look so much older.
(Gold looks at Bae with a blank look on his face. Even though Bae doesn’t know exactly what’s going on. He can feel it. Tears flow out of his eyes and behind his father he can see many other people who are so obviously sad for him. Even Regina, who hates Gold, seems to be concentrating hard on the pair.)
Gold: Wha… What?
Bae (Looking down): I’m sorry. I must have mistook you for someone else. What’s your name?
Gold: Gold.
(Close-up on Regina, who’s still watching the pair intently. Bae starts to formulate a plan in his head. He can feel Regina’s magic helping him, the land to him growing a great purple.)
Bae: My mother sent me.
Gold: For what reason?
Bae: To find my father.
Gold: And what’s his name?
Bae: I think you know…
(Silence)
Bae: His name… Was Gold.
(Gold looks down.)
Gold: Impossible. Baelfire?
Bae: I’m sorry, papa.
Gold: I left you… Because I had to…
Bae: I know.
Gold: I can’t do this.
(Gold enters the border.)
Bae: Wait! If you don’t want me here I can leave.
(Gold turns around.)
Gold: Stay.
(Bae smiles and runs into the border.)After this he thanks Regina because he realised her magic helped Gold remember who he was. He then gets a room at granny’s.
Belle tries to kiss Gold for true love’s kiss to break the curse, but because he doesn’t remember her, it doesn’t work.
2. Gold’s Death?!: Soon after Baelfire’s return, Gold gets shot. Everyone suspects Hook because he has the motive and while he says he would if he had the chance and would happily admit it, it wasn’t him, so who was it?!
Henry finds out the horrible truth… David shot Gold… He can’t bring himself to tell anyone… He’s too afraid.
Luckily, Gold makes a full recovery thanks to Doctor Whale, but now he remembers ABSOLUTELY nothing and there’s no way he’ll remember Baelfire again without some powerful magic, which Regina is gradually losing.
3. David: In the cliffhanger of a later episode, Snow realises David’s acting weird and gets him to admit he shot Gold, along with another deep, dark secret.
This isn’t the real David. The episode ends with the man going up to DA Spencer and telling him he’s Prince James, the real Prince James.
4. Prince James: It turns out Prince James never died. Rumple’s magic protected him and he used him as a test run for the dark curse. It aged him, changed his whole body, thus his hatred for Rumplestiltskin. He used magic to swap bodies with him, but how he got that magic remains to be seen.
Some of Storybrooke wants James to go to prison, but Belle and Baelfire convince them to let him live with Spencer (who used his power to avoid prison as well).
But David is still missing…
5. Cora: Cora enlists the help of Spencer and his son James to formulate a plan to take over Storybrooke. Only them and Hook know she’s there…
And Regina.
6. Regina: Regina felt at her lowest at the end of the winter season finale. Cora used that to her advantage and Regina helped her with her schemes. When she helped Gold remember Baelfire, she finally started to realise maybe she wa wanted.
She told Henry she was working with Cora, who took it badly, and didn’t believe she changed again, turning her back to the dark side.
7. Henry: Henry may be one of the bravest characters in the show. But if Regina reverting wasn’t bad enough, he found out that his grandfather had shot Mr Gold, putting him in a bit of a funk until he found out about Prince James.
Henry wanted his grandfather back.
He went to look for Cora to learn magic and the episode after the reveal of Prince James ended with this, Henry wanting to learn dark magic.
8. The Quest: Baelfire finds Henry just in time to stop him. He says they should both go on a quest to find David. He’s sure powerful magic was used and he wants to search outside Storybrooke.
Henry apologises to Regina and turns her away from Cora again.
Baelfire convince Belle, who’s now closer to Gold, not to kiss Gold until Bae’s back, otherwise it will hurt Rumple too much.
He also tries to convince Prince James before he goes that they’re alike in that they both have powerful and somewhat twisted fathers, but both fathers feel they’re good. The sons want to be good, but James feels it doesn’t seem right to go against his father. At one point, he also seemed to sugggest an invention that could give life by taking a small amount from someone else. Bae appeals to him, and it seems to have worked, but…
Outside, Bae finds out when Gold lost his memory, Bae inherited the Dark One powers…
9. Neal Cassidy: On their quest, Bae and Henry find Neal Cassidy… And August.
It turns out Neal Cassidy used to be Prince James, before he and David swapped bodies. Inside the box was a dragon head. Not all the conversation was shown. Neal thought his FTL life was a dream, but when he saw the head of the dragon he had slain… He still however had too much Neal in him to be with Emma, so he had to leave her.
Powerful magic must have been used to make David remember His FTL life outside of Storybrooke.
10. August: August trusted Neal. Even when he made him guard David soon after he awoke from the sleeping curse. He feels horrible about it. Everyone goes back together.
11. Belle: Belle couldn’t not kiss Gold in the end and he regained his memory, only to be horrified he lost Bae again.
12. Hook: Hook wanted to kill Rumple at first, but during his lost memory phases, he realised he wasn’t such a bad person. It took a while though. After Rumple got his memory back, Hook told him, both apologised and forgave each other.
13. Bae the Dark One: Bae can’t handle the power of the Dark One so when an old woman offers to take the power, he agrees straight away…
And this is just in our world.
14. Aurora and Mulan: Both work to save Prince Phillip through a variety of challenges. They’re not always shown.
15. The Finale Part 1! Present-day FTL: Aurora and Mulan have found the key to the portal, but can they find a sorcerer powerful enough to open it?
16. The Finale Part 1! Past FTL: Cora tricks Rumplestiltskin out of some of his powers, using it to take over Wonderland by force.
17. The Finale Part 1! Storybrooke: it was Cora who too the Dark One’s power from Baelfire! She uses it to crush the rebellion and complete her master plan to take over Storybrooke with DA Spencer by her side. (Prince James is “ill”)
18. The Finale Part 2! Past FTL: Snow, King George , Charming, Rumple, Regina and more team up to dethrone Cora and get back Rumple’s powers.
19. The Finale Part 2! Present-day FTL: Aurora and Mulan must travel to the deadly land of the wraiths to rescue Prince Phillip and find out which one of them he is truly in love with.
20. The Finale Part 2! Storybrooke: August, Bae, David and Henry return to find a ruined Storybrooke. Meanwhile, Prince James convinces DA Spencer to work against Cora. Now with an advantage, can everyone defeat Cora or is it too late?
21. The Finale Part 2! Final Moments!! Past FTL: Rumple takes back his powers, but Cora has become too socially important to be able to be dethroned, leading then to the kidnapping Henry Sr and the events of Hat Trick and the Queen of Hearts.
22. The Finale Part 2! Final Moments!! Storybrooke: James changes Baelfire’s invention slightly. By sacrificing someone’s life force, they can destroy someone else’s. James tries to do this to Cora, but Bae takes in some of the energy, leading to him getting badly hurt, which Regina cures with magic. Baelfire somehow banishes the Dark One spirit from entering anyone where the final battle took place.
But Prince James is dead… It wasn’t possible to save him. And Baelfire blames himself.
During Prince James’s funeral, Rumple asks Mary Margeret where she got the book. This must be the same person that helped Prince James. She says the man said his name was…
Zoso. (The previous dark one)
Rumple walks away.
Close-up on Zoso somewhere in Storybrooke, writing something, and saying
“Goodbye, Storybrooke.”
23. The Finale Part 2! Final Moments!! Present-day FTL: Aurora, Mulan and the rescued Prince Phillip are back in the safe haven. Prince Phillip doesn’t know who his true true love is.
Before he can think, the ground below him starts shaking…
And floating…
Is this the beginning of the end Zoso seemed to be implying?!!!

Belle: But, Rumplestiltskin, you know what happens if you leave….”This part made me read this as if it was an opera I was watching 😆 With all characters on the sideline singing as the chorus -“A portal is opening outside the borders”
And then Rumple and Belle in the middle singing the other lines 😀It was prettu funny to see them like that, so thanks for that 🙂
But towards the end it got a little to ‘friendly, all hugs and kisses and forgiveness’..like.
But that’s just my taste.
