Yeah. TLK only goes so far with this curse. There has to be more to it, like you said
I don’t see why that’s so,……. Belle’s kiss was breaking the curse so there’s no doubt she can do it. TLK can break any curse…..I mean, most Dark Ones wouldn’t have a TL, so the issue of whether a kiss could break it wouldn’t come up. Belle’s was breaking it, so I think we do have our answer.

Yes Belle was breaking it but it was before Rumple wanted to give up his powers. So because he hadn’t made the choice to want his curse broken, it only worked part way. I don’t doubt that she can do it–I think there is a mix of things that must happen.
Rumple’s sacrifice keeps him alive–but Belle’s TLK will break the curse and save him

However, if that were the case, and as you said – the issue of whether a kiss could break it wouldn’t come up……why then did Regina bring it up?Also, maybe the fact that Rumple was wearing the cuff that blocked magic when he stabbed himself and Malcolm changed the outcome of the act of sacrifice.

Actually my entire headcanon about how the DO curse comes about is because of True Love. I could totally see that TLK is only one component for breaking the DO curse and keeping the DO alive.

It can be between parent/child as was the case with Emma and Henry and the Dark Curse.

They made a point of having Rumple kiss Malcolm before he stabbed him. Could be that TLK broke the DO curse because it was given during the sacrifice?

Just a thought.I think Emma’s kiss is different from other TLKs. Emma is magic, she is a product of TL and The Saviour, thus her kisses produce magic without the recipient having to be her TL. Graham is proof of that.
As for Pan & Rumple. I don’t see Rumple’s kiss as being TLK. Malcolm showed no remorse for any of the things he had done. Rumple held no love for him. I think Rumple gave him The EF’s Mafioso Kiss of Death.
There has to be a good reason why the DO’s curse didn’t break after he sacrificed himself, after all, there is no greater love than to give up one’s life for another.

I think it was a forgiving kiss, not a TLK. It was, “I forgive you for what you’ve done to me and now we shall die together”

Because A+B = C and he had A but no B and thus no C.

That’s truly beautiful..
I really think that this storyline is a waste if they don’t break it in this season……I’m praying for this to be so.
