She’s stated to be the most powerful being in all the realms (which automaticly means she exceeds Rumple), but what has she really done? Yeah it was impressive how she was able to give Bae a magic bean that switches portals, however it’s debatable if that was her magic alone or she acquired that bean elsewhere (My memory is foggy of that episode so any needed corrections are welcome).
Other then that she hasn’t done anything that impressive,
-She didn’t even attempt to stop Rumple from making the curse (if she was so powerful, it shouldn’t have been to hard) And she didn’t try to seal the land from the curse when it came (Cora was able to do it though..)
-She temporarily trapped Rumple and Regina in fairy dust by catching both of them offgaurd, and when she tried it the second time on Regina she failed, and didn’t attempt anything else.
-She failed to break the magical barrier of Golds shop in 2×15, and Cora and Regina were able to do it easily. Is this another fail on the writers part? Have they overrated this character without even trying to make her look impressive?
My only theories on this are
1. She has her own agenda, and she is delibretly holding back her power.
2. She probably is capable of using dark magic, but it’s against the law of fairies and she refuses to go thereWhat are you opinions? How high do you rank her in comparison to Rumple/Cora/Regina.
[adrotate group="5"]April 13, 2013 at 11:15 am #185960KebParticipantI think that she was called the original power, but not more powerful. I believe that dark magic is more powerful than anything but true love, because the price is high. Regina had to sacrifice what she loved most to enact the curse, and Rumple’s deals are mostly about making sure he’s not the one paying the full price for what he does (though he, too, lost a lot–including most of his soul and his son–for his power).
I don’t think that BF is capable of paying the price for dark magic, and so her power is far more limited. They’ve said that it requires a pure heart to get her to come, and she seems capable only of granting a very deep wish under particular conditions (like being selfless, brave, and true or whatever–it’s said that August couldn’t have been transformed if he was not).
Also, it’s been suggested that two magic users are stronger than one–Rumple needed Regina’s help to create the portal-block when Cora was coming. Rumple’s also, by far, the most experienced magic user shy of BF, so his shield was probably a lot stronger than Emma’s. Cora and Regina together broke that shield the first time; Cora struggled a lot harder alone with Emma’s second shield.

I always thought that Blue Fairy was up to something, just because of the times she could have helped she didn’t and when she did intervene sometimes she made the situation even worse. I do think Blue and Rumple had a prior run in to her giving Bae the magic bean. Rumple seemed more against the fact that Bae had gone to Blue for help rather than Bae had found a way to rid Rumple of the dark one.
As for how powerful Blue Fairy is, Rumple said that magic is “not an intellectual endeavour. It’s about emotion” Dark magic thrives on strong dark emotions such as anger and hate. Whilst love is also shown to be a pretty powerful emotion. What if fairies are limited in their emotions? Blue would be against using dark magic but she believes fairies can’t love. It would explain why she split up Nova and Dreamy, Blue believed love between a fairy and dwarf wasn’t possible. With the strong emotions off the table, Blue would be reduced to using weaker emotions for her magic thus making her magic weaker than the likes of Rumple, Regina, Cora and Emma.

Keegan said in an interview that the script said The Blue Fairy is the most powerful being in all the land.
April 13, 2013 at 1:34 pm #185973gypsyParticipantI think the Blue Fairy has her own agenda.
I think she wanted the Dark Curse to be cast and ultimately broken.
She didn’t do much, but she manipulated certain situations and/or anticipated certain people’s reations and used it to her benefit.Morraine tells Bae that Reul Ghorm is an ancient being – the original power that rules the ‘night’.
When Bae asks her, “Bigger than my Papa…or worse?” She answers “Bigger than anything”.Blue tends to be ambiguous wheneverever she says anything.
When she meets with Bae, she says “There are two kinds of magic – good magic and dark magic – I am on the right side”.April 13, 2013 at 3:00 pm #185980tombo671Participant^^ Exactly, who knows what she meant by “The Right Side”…I Think the writers are deliberately doing that with her character just incase they decide to go down that route in the future, they’re probably undecided about it now, and since Tamara is going to be the next Big bad i don’t think we will be seeing anything for a long time regarding it.
April 13, 2013 at 3:03 pm #185981RumplesGirlKeymasterIf Blue does become a big bad, it will be in the final season (which will be a long way away hopefully!). That kind of power struggle would be really interesting and seems very end game.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 13, 2013 at 3:41 pm #185990PriceofMagicParticipantI wonder if Blue’s backstory is going to be tied to Tinkerbell’s since the writers did say that Tinkerbell deserved her own back story. Perhaps Tinkerbell fell in love with Peter Pan but her love was unrequited and Peter only ever saw her as his companion. Tinkerbell stayed with Peter because of her love for him but maybe Blue saw how sad Tinkerbell was because of her unrequited love even though Tinkerbell would pretend to be happy for Peter’s sake.
Blue then didn’t want Nova ending up the same way as Tinkerbell.

I agree. It appears that the Blue Fairy’s magic, while powerful, is limited by things outside of her control. She can’t just cast a spell to do anything she wants but she can manipulate certain pre-existing conditions. The requirement that Pinocchio be selfless, brave, and true is the clearest example. She also stated on several occasions that there are things she can’t do: she couldn’t undo the effects of becoming The Dark One on Rumple, she couldn’t transform Gepetto’s parents, etc… I think this is part of the reason that fairies don’t have to pay the kind of price that users of dark magic must pay. Someone else (sorry, I can’t remember who) also mentioned the fact that the fairies can’t fall in love may be the price they pay for their magic.
So dark magic is more of a “Give me what I want and here’s the payment” sort of bargain while fairy magic is more like an altruistic sort of ability to find things that can make other people happy.

I love this idea. PoM!! I think when we do see Tinkerbell, her story will be connected somehow to the Blue Fairy. Keegan tweeted today that we would only see her un peu (a little) the rest of the season. Tinkerbell was definitely in love with Peter Pan, so I think that will have to be explored once we meet him.
