I prefer the symbolic battles. Fairy tales are morality plays; they have to be about something. Otherwise, the show’s dramatic moments are just glowy hands and intestinal gas pain scowls.

I would prefer it to be both. Emma fighting the Black Fairy is already pretty symbolic given that she’s the Savior and Black is apparently the most evil creature ever.

    (also, omgosh the cats LOL)

Agreed. I really don’t know why they choose “war” and “battle” to describe what is going to happen, if they don’t plan for it to be that sort of thing. I too would like a mix of glowy hands and emotional stakes.

    Revised theory

Emma absorbs BF’s magic, rendering the BF free from its shackles/ allowing her to be saved and be together with her family like she has always wanted.

Emma of course survives this absorption, but is no longer the saviour, because her final task is done.

    Sounds like a good theory!

If the promo is anything to go by, there will at the very elast be a sword fight between Emma and Gideon and Rump gives Emma the black wand. So im guessing for some shades of epicness here.

It is unfortunate because i think of a battle as at least a multi person on both sides fight, even more then just two. This will probably last like a minute and just be a few people.

I hope we do have some sort of magic-off, along with the thematic stuff.  If it all amounts to a sword fight I will very very disappointed!
