I just saw this theory on FB. We need to talk about it
Wes is Sam’s son from his first marriage but wasn’t apart of Wes’s life at all. The mother committed suicided years later because she couldn’t get out of the depression Sam caused. Reasons for the depression, Sam cheating on her with Annalise and then not wanting to be apart of his son’s life. Sam’s an idiot.

Do we know anything about Wes’s background? He got waitlisted and was accepted at the last minute. Wasn’t it mentioned it went to community college (or am I making that up). So a poor kid get the break of a lifetime being accepted to a prestigious school despite his background, Not unheard of but he’s last minute pulled up from wait list, too.
So…was someone behind the scenes pulling the strings to get him in? To go further on this outlandish theory, Annalise finds out that Wes is a biproduct of a former relationship of her husband’s. She realizes he’s applied and waitlisted so she pulls some strings to get him accepted. Keep your enemies close kinda thing. She’s interested in him because of his connection to Sam (whether Sam knows this or not since Annalise has access to top notch investigators). She does show odd attention to him for some reason that doesn’t come out to any of her other acquaintances.
Darnnit, I`m being sucked into theorizing about a tv show again. Swore I wouldn’t do it again.

We know that he has an absent father and that his mom committed suicide but that’s it. But I think that theory makes total sense. We also learned that Sam and Annalise met in an office where Annie was working–law office, most likely. So it might be that Sam was there filing for divorce or answering for failing to pay child support or soemthing.

*goes to rewatch*
“I wasn’t born in Ohio, I was born in Haiti. My mom moved us here when I was one. I was the only black kid in our town.”
So unless he was lied to about where he was born, or Sam took a vacay in Haiti, ’tis not possible.

Bummer. I was thinking it would be the perfect twist.
But…Wes was only one. We don’t form memories that young. So how would he really know? And we don’t know much about Sam’s life pre-Annie except that he was married.

What if Wes is really Annalise’s, not Sam’s!
Hear me out! So imagine Annalise was in law school or just out of school and gets pregnant. She gives up the baby because she doesn’t have the resources and/or feels like it will mess up her future career. So she gives him up for adoption. Wes’s mom adopts him, takes him to Ohio and tells everyone the story that they moved from Haiti. Perfect cover moving to a new place with a new baby. Nobody to contradict the story. Annalise then moves on with her life, marries Sam and becomes shocked that she can’t have a child since she had one previously. It becomes her obsession to have a baby but it never comes to be. Twenty some years later she looks up Wes and finds out he applied to her school and pulls strings to get him accepted.
So let’s see:
–Age fits. Annalise and Sam were married twenty years. I put Wes’s age at about 24.
–Previous parents. Absent father, mother moving to new place when he’s a baby and too young to remember living in Haiti.
–Extra attention Annalise pays to Wes. She is connected to him in some way that goes against any of the other interactions she has with her students.
Man, I’ve talked myself into Wes being Annalise’s kid now and not Sam’s. 🙂

Then I’ll be squicked out because the actors have crazy chemistry to the point where I almost wanna ship them. LOL
Seriously though, I’ve seen a few people mention this theory here and there, and I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if at some point a Surprise!Offspring of Annalise’s shows up, and whatever happened with that pregnancy is why she couldn’t carry another child to term in later years.

Yes, they do have weird, awkward chemistry, but think back to their intimate moments. Wes has seen her with her guard completely down. She has a weakness around him. Why him out of everyone else? Could this be her maternal feelings coming out. At one point I felt she really wanted to embrace him but held back. What if this is as a mother to her son. But she holds back. We automatically think sexual (because there is a lot of that on this show). But could it be something else?
Also, she’s going to a lot of trouble to collude with Wes about her husband’s murder. If this was any other student, she’d sell them out with no remorse. This is a killer shark attorney. She’d have no qualms. But there is some hold that Wes has over her, and not just blackmail. Emotionally he gets to her I’ve felt.
