I’m a bit disapointed that regina and neal have been face to face twice now and she hasn’t even seemed to notice that he’s a new guy. I get that they may not have all that much time each episode, but they could at least have her glance sideways at him wondering who the **** he is.
I agree, I’m still waiting to see Regina’s reaction to everyone being related to rumple now including her, did they forget to tell her? 😆
She was listening to MM and David’s phone conversations–we know for a fact that she listened to the one as Emma and Neal were bringing Gold back to Storybrooke. It makes sense that they overheard the location of the dagger, too, because they got there so fast (I had been wondering about the timing there–but knowing where David and MM would be + a little time to work out grabbing Johanna for insurance/evil purposes makes sense). I suspect, as a result, that Regina and Cora knew exactly who the unfamiliar man had to be, which is why they never asked–plus, you know, war. It didn’t much matter to Regina at that time that Henry had another parent/grandparent in the picture; she had no love for Rumple (and Cora was quite content to kill him anyway to get his power), so it was just more people on the other side.
Now that her plan seems to be letting MM self-destruct, she might well take a little time to process the fact that Neal is Henry’s father (whom Emma had promised was out of the picture back in the day) and that Gold is her son’s grandfather (and she may fear him enough not to go against him, but she’s got even more reason to dislike the man at this point–she knows he set her up with the curse, that he wanted it broken, that he got MM to trick her into killing her own mother and stole Cora’s life–he might well be a father figure in her life but she’s got every reason to hate him almost as much as Snow at this point).
I think the phone taps explain the lack of explanation needed, as frustrating as that is. There’s a lot that goes on off-screen that has to happen for things to work.

We also did not get a conversation where Emma explained the adoption thing. Maybe it means the writers felt there would not be enough interesting drama in any of those scenes, compared to you know, people fireballing each other over magic daggers and old feuds.
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
I think there has been a lot of off-screen dialogue. Only have 42 mins per episode, gotta get to big stuff. But I am a little disappointed that we didn’t have an Emma-Neal conversation about why she gave up Henry. But maybe that will still happen down the road when we get more Emma’s flashbacks.
