you know what really really bothers me?
the only person to enter gold’s shop and give some comfort to Belle is the wicked Zelena. and it wasn’t even real.where are the Charmings? yeah those Charmings who kept interrupting them whenever they needed Gold to help them with something?
and what about Emma who kept storming in with complaints and questions and comments?
and Regina who stormed in every time she needed a favor or had a demand? or just wanted to complain and needed a listening ear
all those people who were opening and closing that shop door SO OFTEN they were almost breaking the little bell on that door are now completely ignoring the place… leaving Belle to sit there alone all broken and lonely and sad simply because she doesn’t have magic and can’t help them?
did you see how surprised she looked that anyone entered the shop? (when zelena was there)WHERE IS EVERYBODY???
[adrotate group="5"]March 26, 2014 at 10:46 am #255750RumplesGirlKeymasterI understand your rant but I do think you have to keep one thing in mind: time. Once Upon a Time has this very annoying habit of leaving important character moments off stage in order for the plot to move forward. So important conversations are done away from audience’s eyes and then we’re supposed to interpret that they happened. For example, Neal obviously told Emma that he gave August the money to give to her, but we never saw it. Just a passing reference that they had talked about it.
So I think we need to assume that in the first few days before Emma arrived in SB, Charming and Snow paid a visit to Rumple’s shop to check on Belle. They have good hearts and I think they more than anyone would understand how she would feel at loosing her true love. But because the only have 11 42 min episodes to tell this complete story, character moments like this are often left off screen for the sake of time.

March 26, 2014 at 11:11 am #255761butterscotchParticipantI get your frustration, but like Rumpelsgirl said they keep leaving out these important moments out of the show. It is sad Adam and Eddie don’t think it’s important to include them. Personally I am more upset that none other than Archie comforted Belle when Rumpel died in the midseason finale. I agree that comforting could have happened off screen between the episodes but there was really no excuse to not show it at that moment. There was the destruction of town to think about but still…..
P.S. I think hell would freeze over before we see Regina comforting Belle for Rumpel’s death. 🙂

nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnNope. sorry, RG, this has nothing to do with time. snowing and Emma never paid a visit. it was obvious from the shock on Belle’s face that anyone was even in the shop at all.
this has nothing to do with screen time or “moments”. to be honest, as much as I would have liked some acknowledgement that Gold saved them all countless times, I DON’T want them to sit there and cry over him. it would be boring.this rant was NOT about A&E’s lack of telling a good story. on the contrary, if they can make such annoying characters as the ultimate definition of “good” while the villains as the only ones who have a real heart, kudos to them! it is the most intriguing show on TV BECAUSE of that!
this rant was why I love this show! I am ranting about the “good” Charmings, and the “savior” Emma who give a lot more love to Regina who abused them more than anyone else, simply because she is beautiful (she is) and because she is more socially active. she expects them to love her, so they do. remember that party where Snow and Emma returned safely from the EF? she was upset that they didn’t make her feel even MORE loved and more accepted. while Gold wasn’t even invited and he was the one who helped them get there. (come on it all happened in GOLD’S SHOP after all) lol. but did Gold expect an invitation? not at all! he was more than happy to stay home with Belle and not be interrupted for a few hours.
He is ugly and unloved so no one will ever consider him to be a person with feelings. he is like that kid in school who is ugly and friendless, the one who is the butt of everyone’s jokes, but is always approached with requests to copy from his homework. he is nothing but a means to an end for everyone. a beast indeed.
so it comes naturally, that his only best friend, Belle, will be ignored or looked down upon.
see? this is why I love this show.
March 26, 2014 at 1:43 pm #255793PriceofMagicParticipantI think it would be nice if they at least acknowledge something has happened offscreen through dialogue if they can’t show it, at least that way it doesn’t feel like these important character moments are just being ignored or swept under the carpet.
Maybe they should just do a special dvd feature where everyone just sits down and talks and all these character moments that can’t be in the episode can be in that.
All magic comes with a price!

March 26, 2014 at 3:18 pm #255820kfchimeraParticipantGaluthria–that made me think of Prince Charmin.
Anyway I feel those character moments are important but they do tend to get lost and its one of the things I don’t like about the writing of the show. They easily could have worked a scene of Belle being comforted by the Charmings prior to the big town meeting. I suppose then people would complain though it was so brief and cursory!
In any case, someone told Belle about the meeting because she was there.
Things are happening off-screen, but much as I wish many would make it on screen, they don’t, and as far as the scene that did? I honestly don’t think Belle was shocked anyone was there. I think she was surprised to see someone she didn’t know walk in, because she didn’t know Zelena from Curse 1. Then Zelena presses her advantage by greeting her as “Mrs. Gold”. Definitely a very Wicked Witch! Poor Belle is just all thrown off by all this.
Even for the characters that dominate screen time there are many moments that are missing and jumps that don’t seem to make sense as to how they knew this or that. It’s as I said, either a problem of the editing, the writing or something but I don’t think its the intention of the writers to portray that other characters are selfish or don’t think Belle is important too. I think that is happening very much unintentionally. Emma even hugged Belle goodbye at the town portal scene–but when had we seen the two of them ever interact prior to that! The first time Belle interacted with Henry? He was in Pan’s body!
I think there is going to be more Belle in the next episode though, so there is that to look forward to and perhaps maybe they’ll show some scenes that fill in certain gaps.
