BUT, unlike others have said, she is the sister of the King not the Queen. In the movie Frozen, it is the King who rushes to the book saying he knows exactly what to do when Elsa accidentally hits Anna with ice magic – almost as if he had to deal with it before. Also, throughout the movie, it is the father (aka King) who is the harshest to Elsa afterwards, and rather than teaching her how to cope is almost abusive in his isolation of her
That does make a lot of sense. The Father is more active in the movie than the mother. My only issue is that in ONCE, the opening scene in 401, it’s the Mother who taking charge and making plans, as if she was the one who knew what had to be done and had some burden to get off her chest–i.e, Elsa being related to the Snow Queen

That scene to me still shows how the Dad wants to hide the truth. I going to guess that what the mother wanted to write was that Elsa wasn’t alone (your Auntie has it too) and that there was hope for her , to seek out someone in EF that they (the parents) were trying to see (maybe Rumple?) not that she was adopted.
If the King once had a fling with the Ice Queen…that could have made Elsa, thus making her still the rightful heir to the throne as well as a half sister to Anna! It’d explain Elsa’s blonde hair, paler skin tone, as well as the ice powers.

Possibly, but A) why would the Queen accept her husband’s illegitimate child from an affair as her daughter to raise and be the future heir of the kingdom; B) only legitimate children can inherit the throne without a decree, act of parliament and/or depending on the time period some religious dispensation, and C) Disney would never permit adultery to be part of Frozen canon – especially with the product been so new and the current cash cow. The familial connection is definitely there between the Snow Queen and Elsa but not in a tawdry way.

Compassion? Its possible… if the daughter had already been born before the queen and king met, id understand but if he cheated, got his lover pregnant, and then brought the child into their relationship, I’m a bit more skeptical…. the queen would have to have a heart of pure gold >>

Yeah, but the Frozen execs did fly out to talk to A and E to discuss what A and E wanted to do. So…I agree with the no adultery in Frozen.
