We know Rumple will ask Emma to find his son for him, in order to pay back his favor.
One thing I can definitely see in one of the next episodes is Emma being sent out to find Bae and discovering that Bae is Neal. It would be a great plot twist (although half the world already holds this opinion), and it would add some depth to Henry’s already screwed up family tree. Plus, it could explain Rumple’s sympathy toward Henry, etc.
So, assuming Neal is Bae:
I was reading some other posts in the thread about who Near is, and realized: one of the major points in Peter Pan was that Peter couldn’t remember his family.
As sad as this would be, this WOULD explain a lot. Like, if Neal is either Bae or Peter, why would he need August to convince him that magic is real with whatever was in the box? If he’s Peter, I think Tinker Bell was in the box. Maybe he didn’t need to believe per say, but perhaps he needed some… “convincing” to leave Emma. Just like in the story, when Peter leaves Wendy behind to grow up and he stays a kid with Tinker Bell, Neal left Emma behind to “grow up.”‘
How does this tie into Baelfire?
How much of a twist would it be if Emma went out on a journey to find Rumple’s lost son after hundreds of years of Rumples’ waiting, brought him back to Storybrooke, and on top of him being Henry’s dad… he had no idea who Rumplestiltskin was.

December 28, 2012 at 11:31 pm #166523clockwatcherParticipantI’ve heard that as well.
But they have been HINTING at the Peter Pan story throughout the series.Maybe we just won’t see Peter Pan’s story this season, or we won’t know who he is this season. It all depends what “see” means when the writers say that “we won’t see Peter Pan this season.” 😉

Indeed. Neal/Bae could still be Peter, even if it’s not confirmed this season, and K&H technically won’t have lied if it’s just that we don’t see Peter in Neverland. 😉

I don’t think he needed convincing that magic was real, or of who he was, it’s just that August had to show him something to verify his own (August’s) identity as someone who knew about magic and was personally connected to it, so that Neal would take him seriously and trust him.

It could not have been a coincidence that Rumple just happened to pull out a dream catcher for Emma. If Neal is Peter, the dream catcher could play a major role in uncovering some major memories that he may have lost during his time in Never Land (i.e. memories of his family/Rumple, if he’s Bae).January 10, 2013 at 3:12 am #167739gypsyParticipantNot to mention, all the Peter Pan clues connected to the name Neal Cassady and NY.

Hi Nonnie,
I think we have to parse their words very carefully cuz these guys are so tricky. 😀 They said that “Peter Pan” will not be seen this season. They did not say that the real world person, who also is/or was Peter Pan in Neverland will not be seen this season…they only said that “Peter Pan” will not be seen. We saw something like this when everyone was trying to figure out who Dr. Whale was. He said that “no one” would be able to figure out who his fairytale character was. He was right…because his character was not a “fairytale” character but rather a science fiction character from the land of black and white. So, technically, even though people figured out his character was Dr. Frankenstein, he was correct, because Dr. Frankenstein is not a fairytale character. He actually came out with that statement after lots of “Dr. Whale is Dr. Frankenstein” posts starting hitting the blogs. It was designed to cause people to second guess themselves. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if that is not what the, “we will not see Peter Pan this season” comment is all about…cuz LOTS of people, including myself, think or want Bae to be Peter Pan. I think they are trying to get us to second guess ourselves.
I think the door is still wide open for Baelfire to be Peter Pan.
January 13, 2013 at 1:12 am #168105sarah_tnParticipantI think Neal is actually a lost boy. I think Peter will come into the scene next season, and that he and Neal will know eachother.
January 15, 2013 at 10:23 pm #168580TheGoldenKeyParticipantCertainly looks like Neal is Bae. I also think that Neal/Bae is too important to only be a lost boy. He’ll either be Peter Pan or he won’t be anyone from Neverland.
