KeymasterMaybe but I’d still like if they stick to the human heart sacrifice rule but I do like the idea of Killian trading his old home for a new one with Emma.
Well I’d prefer a human heart as well since that has been the what we see since episode 102 and I sorta hate when the writers pull new information out of thin air. But when I look at the list of potential candidates, I’m struck by the fact that there are very few options, especially if we’re sticking with human heart.
Snow and Charming would have to use each other (but both are still alive) or Emma (and she was in NYC) so I think we can rule them out.
Regina would have to use Henry (and he was in NYC) or Robin if their relationship developed quickly (but he’s alive in SB) so I think we can rule her out.
Belle would have to use Rumple (but we was captured by WW and is still alive now) so I think we can rule her out.
Rumple would have to use Belle (but she was with the Charmings) or Neal (but he was absorbed into Rumple and like you said 315 wouldn’t make sense) so we can rule him out.
Neal would have to use Henry (but he was in NYC) or Emma (but she was in NYC) so we can rule him out. When you break it down like that I really only see two options.
1) Philip will let himself be sacrificed in order to protect Aurora and his baby.
2) Giant loophole of metaphorical heart–either Hook or some heretofore unmentioned person and object. With number 2, that means it could be anyone if they had a valuable object.

ParticipantI think there is one more option:
3) Glinda, who sacrificed Dorothy or the scarecrow

KeymasterYes, Glinda is a good option is the establish that she has someone/thing she deeply cares for and is willing to give up in order to make sure the curse happens. Though, I don’t know why she would want that.

ParticipantGlinda would be a good option. They could give an answer to the curse question without it infringing on the main characters. Maybe Glinda and Zelena are in league with each other, hence why Regina couldn’t go with the Charmings

ParticipantI’m guessing that with Snow and Charming’s blessings, Regina has recast another version of the dark curse. The loophole being she has already sacrificed the heart of the thing she loved most. Or, possibly, in the missing year Robin and Regina fell in love, and her sacrifice was the memory of that love.
An actual heart isn’t necessary for Regina,as we saw when she cursed them back to EF, and sacrificed her son’s memory of her.
I suppose the drawback would be why did Zelena come with them. Unless, she didn’t come with them, but got there, somehow, on her own. Maybe she stole the Jolly Rodger, and it’s still there, docked in Storybrook, under another invisible cloak spell.

ParticipantThat 319 Sneak Peek is keeping my suspicions up about Hook, because I wonder if they might parallel the present day Zelena/Rumple/Hook scene with a flashback Zelena/Rumple/Hook scene. In both scenes they could have Zelena telling Hook to do her bidding and in the flashback he agrees, but in present day he’s realising he shouldn’t have. It’d match perfectly to how they structured his flashback/present day stuff with Ariel, same plot point playing out in both times.

ParticipantI just went back and looked in the filming thread, and MRJ was mysteriously filming in studio for 319 in EF clothes. Also, during the horrible scene that I hate to bring up, Neal’s death, isn’t he clutching at his chest? At least, I remember when I saw the preview being sure his heart was being crushed by Zelena. It was similar to Graham.
If Zelena separated them, forced Rumple to take Neal’s heart and he was reasorbed, I think Rumple casting the curse works. Neal’s & Rumple’s body was the same, so he could live without it.
This then places the blame for Neal’s death completely on Zelena. She claimed responsibility. It is possible Rumple could have eventually found a loophole or a solution to the life for a life thing, but not after sacrificing Neal’s heart. This would take his death from being manipulated by Zelena to being caused directly by her. The negative is, it is like killing him twice.

ParticipantOk, I put spoiler tags on my post, but it doesn ‘t look like they showed up?

ParticipantAdam sent a tweet implying that MRJ had been in town to shoot pickups for a previous episode, as opposed to shooting something for 319.
And I would think that if Neal didn’t have a heart in his body, he’d have died a whole lot quicker than he did. He should have dropped dead the instant they were separated, not hung around long enough to get out some final words, so I dunno that I buy Rumple sacrificing Neal’s heart as a believable option.

I think it’s Regina too. This time it was to protect Baby Snowflake. Maybe thinking it was the only way to get away from from Zelena, not knowing about the silver shoes. Maybe part of the loophole of not needing an actual heart is that she won’t remember casting it or maybe it’s a way for her to not remember the past year’s pain of losing Henry. Or maybe she does use Cora’s heart (eeeew). A reverse of the reversed dark curse. You would think they wouldn’t have any memories at all if it was like the old curse, and not just the past year’s memories. SB still looks the same. The inside of Granny’s, Regina’s, Rumple’s & Snowing’s places all look the same. You would think if someone else cast the new curse, even if it was Zelena, SB would have at least small differences. Their own spin on how the town and their homes would look like.
