This is a good question. Because, if he return, for sure the situation it would be more fun if he has yet the powers that he had obtained with the ritual. Because in fact it would be interesting to see who is the most powerful between Rumplestiltskin and Jafar with the power of the ritual. Moreover Jafar and Rumpelstiltskin have several things in common. Both have been abandoned and betrayed from his own father. Both have killed their fathers. Both have learned something negative from their fathers. Both have renounced at the best side of themselves to get their powers. Both are dependent on the power. Both use the power for try to compensate for the emptiness in their hearts. So an interaction and a confrontation magical and psychologically between them would be interesting.

As far as WL goes, Nyx apparently took away his omnipotence, put the laws of magic back into place and reversed everything he did. So I doubt he can.
BUT!!!! Jafar has broken the laws of magic once and there is no reason why he wouldn’t be able to again. All he would need would be another sorcerer and two more genies and that could be a way to introduce the Aladdin plot line. So if they brought Jafar as the villain of Season 5, they have a potential story"I could have the giant duck as my steed!" --Daniel Radcliffe

I could see Jafar and Rumple down the pub having a pint and having a good old moan about Will Scarlett.

Already. But is it possible that perhaps, even if Nyx has canceled all spells made by Jafar, and that turned him into a genie before change back into humans Will and the brothers of Cyrus. It may therefore be that maybe, Nyx has not broken the curse of the genes from which Jafar has drew power, but simply has transferred it at Jafar, and so now it is the bottle in that Jafar is imprisoned the source of his power rather than those he had used for the ritual. And then maybe, until Jafar remain a genie, he still has that power. And we must remember even that, after Maleficent, is Jafar the most popular disney villain. And we must also remember that one of the things for that Jafar is famous, is the fact that he is the most powerful disney villain, excluding the divinities. So if they insert him in the main series, for sure they have to respect this his characteristic and exploiting him better than they did in the spin off. And then, if he hasn’t anymore the power of the ritual, he must really find a way to become powerful, however, because without his Snake Staff perhaps is at the same level of Regina, Cora, and Maleficent. But it sure is weaker than Zelena and Rumple (while, with it, probably he would be at the same level of Zelena, but always weaker than Rumple).
