So I was reading an interview with Lana Parrilla – here – and she mentioned, as regards Neal Cassidy, the following:
One thing's for sure: Regina probably won't be happy when yet another parent appears out of nowhere to vie for Henry's love.
“I think she's going to be very surprised when she learns who the father is,” Parrilla teased.
Interesting! Might Regina have encountered Neal before? “Possibly,” she added, a sly gleam in her eye.
This made me wonder. Bae left FTL hundreds of years before Regina was born, right? So that means she can’t possibly have known Bae there. However, if she did met Neal in FTL, than Neal and Bae simply cannot be the same person. Bae was long gone by the time Regina was born, grew up and became Queen.
But she also hasn’t left Storybrooke, so can’t have met Bae in our world either. And since no one comes to Storybrooke, how can she have met Neal Cassidy in our world?
I still think he probably is Bae (somehow), but as to how Regina knows him? That will be interesting to find out. Was he in Storybrooke previously? Did Regina leave Storybrooke in the past?

I took it to mean that Regina will be very surprised to learn that Neal is actually Rumpelstiltskin's son and therefore Henry's grandfather. I think she only added the last part to try to get people to think that maybe Neal isn't actually Baelfire. She only confirms that Regina will be surprised by Henry's father's identity, which she will be because that means that Henry is not only connected to the Charmings but now to Rumpelstiltskin. However, she never confirms that she met Neal before, so she may have or may not have.
Even if she did meet him, he can still be Baelfire if Nealfire was able to travel between worlds like if he was Peter Pan or the White Rabbit.
Did Regina leave Storybrooke in the past?
You’ve just made me realise something, How did Regina know about SB when she created the curse? How did she know of a land without magic?

Hmmm…I never thought of that. But then again the writers if this show a genius’ so I guess anything is possible. I think Neal is Bae, why else would Rumple be there and why would Neal run..?
The curse created Storybrooke.
As far as our world, she knew that she was going to a world without magic.
She probably specified a secluded space without wars, that’s why they ended up in Maine.As for Geography, I’m sure that both Regina and Gold know where they are.
Part of the curse was information about this world, or at least USA, like an average American.

they have connection to the world.It sounds like the author of the article was just doing his own speculation. But Lana’s actual words still point to Neal being Baelfire. Of course Regina would be surprised by who Henry’s father turned out to be. HE’S RELATED TO RUMPELSTILTSKIN!!! That’s pretty shocking. 😆
He’s definitely Bae in my books. As AntBee mentioned above, Reggie certainly could have met him as Peter Pan back before the curse. She did meet Hook before the curse when he was realm jumping. Maybe Bae/Peter popped into the EF or perhaps Reggie, along with Jefferson, went realm jumping to Neverland. Besides, we have Smee holding young Bae’s cloak and Rumple wearing it in NYC. Seems very likely that he is Bae/Peter/Neal.
