What do you think would’ve happened if during the flashback in The Return Rumple had just sucked up his hesitation and just gone through the bean hole with Bae? I know neither one of them had any mind of what was in store for them on the other side of the vortex, but at least Baelfire wouldn’t have gone alone.
I have a feeling that things may not have gone well, with Rumple being an overprotective father and neither one of them not having a clue about how to survive in this world. I could also see Rumple killing off social workers trying to take Bae away.

Imagining what it would be like to jump from FTL to SB–from a land of horse -drawn carriages and kings and magic to cars, police, drugs, tv, airplanes,–as Pinn did, with no preparation and no sponsor to guide you, how horrifying! At least the false memories gave people knowledge and comfort with the modern world. Yes, I ‘m afraid that unless Bae and Rumple had some time to observe and learn before jumping in to SB, you’re right, they’d be locked up or dead.

Portal is too over-rated 😎

Of course, they would have been together, and Bae would know his father didn’t abandon him. Yet I wonder if Bae somehow landed somewhere that might not have been too different from the world that they left, and if Rumple had jumped, they both would have been in a similar situation they were in before where both were powerless. Besides his dad not coming with him turning him bitter, if he does happen to be Henry’s father and a jerk like Emma described him, I think it would make him even more cynical to go to a world where he a lot of the same problems he was trying to escape from before like perhaps people preying on him because of his vulnerability.
Also, Lil’Red has a great theory about “bean” holes which I hope she’ll share here like she did on Tumblr. I didn’t think about it before, but it makes perfect sense to me now.

Would there lives have been better though? True, the dark curse may never have happened (though I still believe the Blue Fairy is partly to blame for that whole scenario) however, lets think of the people that Rumple has helped even if some of them didn’t realise it.
Cinderella- Would of been a maid for her step family. Her fairy godmother may have sent her to the ball but it could have ended like the Disney version and she may have had to return to her life of servitude. She may never have had the glass slippers as that was Rumple’s “memorable detail” and that was how the prince found her because she left a glass slipper behind.
Belle’s father- Was losing the ogre war. Rumple’s assistance saved his town.
Belle- Would of been married to Gaston, a man she didn’t really love. Would never have got the chance to be brave. Rumple technically saved her from a loveless arranged marriage.
Charming- Would never have found Snow without Rumple’s help. Arguably may never have even met Snow if Rumple hadn’t collected him for George.
Snow- Rumple gave her the potion to forget Charming which at that point in time Snow wanted. Rumple never forced it down her throat.
Jiminy- Rumple gave Jiminy a way to escape his parents. He never forced him to use it.
Charming’s parents- Rumple saved their farm the first time in exchange for one of their sons which he then gave to George.
Charming’s twin brother- He grew up as a prince rather than a poor shepherd because of Rumple’s deal with his parents.
King George and his wife- Rumple gave them a son.
All magic comes with a price!

Good point. Everything would have been different for all these characters(and maybe even loads of other characters we’ve not met yet) if he’d gone with Bae.

Yes, it’s a good point about the others, but for Bae, I wonder if his life would have been basically the same even if his father had come with him.
It’s hard for me to articulate what’s going on with the whole Bae and Emma situation, assuming that he’s Henry’s father of course, without knowing the Blue Fairy’s true motives right now because I do think she has some kind of motive. I guess it’s more I can’t figure out if whatever the Blue Fairy’s agenda might be has to do with Rumple more or Bae, Emma, and Henry more. Like did she need Rumple to help more people get their happy endings and/or to bring them to our world because of Mike’s theory that FTL was dying. Or was Rumple just the first part in her plan in order to get Bae, Emma, and Henry to get where they are now. I do think that both are important parts of whatever the BF wanted to happen, but I wonder which would be the most important part of the equation.

I thought Lil’Red would have posted, but her theory was that Bae is in Boston because of the wordplay about Boston being Beantown. I love this idea. First, I love it because of the other clever wordplay that they gave about Bae if he is in fact Henry’s father. Second, I love it because I bet he started to watch over Emma after he figured it out about Storybrooke. Or maybe he just happened to live in Boston, and Emma moved to Arizona after whatever they had went bad. Although I’m not sure about that because I like Phoenix, Arizona being a subtle wordplay clue too since Baelfire reminds me of a phoenix.
