1. Less new characters
Agreed. And any future new characters should be better developed.
2. Slow down (as others have stated)
Also agree. While drama is the big aspect of the show, these characters need to breathe.
3. Build more on Hook and Neal
I think we can all assume we’ll be getting more of both
4. Less hiatuses
It’s difficult when this is a show scheduled on a Sunday, which has always been an outlet for special programming. Whether it be the Academy Awards, American Music Awards, or something else. My ideal solution would be to have one longer hiatus during the winter, so both halves of the Season can run with minimal interruptions. With the Winter Olympics happening next February, Season 3 would be the perfect time to try this idea out. I really don’t want to see Once premieres suffer against the Olympics, as they did with the Golden Globes, NFC Championship game and the Grammy’s. We are STILL recovering from the ratings drop as a result of that scheduling, and I don’t want ABC to make the same mistake with Season 3. ABC might be too stubborn to forfeit airing new episodes during February sweeps, unfortunately. Anyway, the way I would schedule Season 3:
301 – September 29th, 2013
302 – October 6th, 2013
303 – October 13th, 2013
304 – October 20th, 2013
305 – October 27th, 2013
306 – November 3rd, 2013
307 – November 10th, 2013
2 week hiatus for the American Music Awards
308 – November 24th, 2013
309 – December 1st, 2013
310 – December 8th, 2013
311 – December 15th, 2013
11 week hiatus for the Winter (The proposed Wonderland spin-off would air during this time period)
312 – March 2nd, 2014
313 – March 9th, 2014
314 – March 16th, 2014
315 – March 23rd, 2014
316 – March 30th, 2014
317 – April 6th, 2014
318 – April 13th, 2014
319 – April 20th, 2014
320 – April 27th, 2014
321 – May 4th, 2014
322 – May 11th, 2014
5. I know the show needs it’s sponsors, but see what you can do about less breaks for advertising. We DVR’d the last episode and after forwarding through the commercials and watching the show, we were like: “is that it?”.
This is kinda out of their control. Once runs the standard 42-43 mins without commercials. The only way there would be less commercials would be if the episodes were longer, but that won’t happen.
6. Listen to your fans! Listen to their ideas!
This can honestly go both ways. While it is always nice to receive fan input, Adam and Eddy shouldn’t completely abandon their plans just because a few fans say so. This is their story, and they should be able to tell it as they see fit. From a writer’s perspective, how would you like it if fans demanded that you write things in a certain way rather than follow your own vision? That’s not to say fan suggestions shouldn’t be taken into account, but they shouldn’t dictate how the show is made either.
7. Writers might like to create a blind idea submission “hat” for the OUAT website on ABC. People who submit ideas would fill out personal information, and then click “agree” when prompted that ideas used will not be rewarded with monetary reimbursement (although, it would be a nice touch those who submit used ideas are noted with a “a special thank you to ____” in show credits). Those who submit ideas will fill out an electronic “index card” that writers can compile into a “hat” and pull for ideas. A lot of times, these can also help to inspire other ideas.
Some of this ties back into my response for statement 6, but I think there are actual legal reasons they can’t do such a thing. I think it might fall into the plagiarism territory.
8. Less death
I agree, and more particularly less “fake” deaths or framed murder cases.
9. More light-hearted and sometimes, maybe even cheesy domestic moments. People like those. The show has been kind of depressing lately. Lighten it up!
Agreed, there needs to be more of a balance. This Season has felt too down with not enough ups.
10. Everybody should get at least 1 real chance for redemption, if even in part.
Sure, why not?To add what people said about ABC’s promos and sneak peeks, I do agree that the promotional department needs to do a better job at making them less spoilerific. This is why several fans try to avoid the promos altogether. I understand that they need to hype up each episode, but at the same time they don’t want to ruin any major twists.
[adrotate group="5"]March 20, 2013 at 9:42 pm #181215tiara_roseParticipanti just read this on ff and thought this would be a grat episode I want to see since the beginning. If they will add the first days of Henry it would be perfect.

That one too.
DEFINATELY… I think I would actually prefer 1 episode every 2 weeks. That way there is very little downtime… Although absence does make the heart grow fonder. But maybe a more even hiatus? 11 solid weeks in spring and 11 in autumn. And for promotion take a leaf out of Dr Who’s book. Three weeks till airing the season’s premiere all they did was three tones of the openings tune (should win most iconic openings tune ever written) and a date under the iconic Blue box logo. And there isn’t a soul in the UK that didn’t know what that meant. Now that’s marketing!
As for the many characters… They can add them, but it should be a bit more sparingly… Adding five in one heap was just too much early this season.
I sometimes feel like Adam and Eddie are winging it, and there is no clear direction for the series. I mean, they wrote episode 2.22 THIS WEEK. They should be finished and writing episode 3.3 or something by now. I don’t wanna know what they are planning, but I would feel safer knowing that they have a red line for the next 5 seasons, and that they KNOW how episode 7.22 is gonna end. Of course they can change stuff along the way, but I think it would become better balanced overal.
So season 3 Bae’s backstory, season 4 a Charming baby, season 5 Regina finds love and redemption, season 6 RUMBELLE FINALLY, season 7 Bit by bit we find out how this was the Blue fairy’s masterplan to rid the world of magic, because all magic COMES WITH A PRICE… Well, that would be my red line, if I got to write itOh and I try not to mind the commercials… after all that is what pays the show and the actors in the end.
March 20, 2013 at 10:14 pm #181222ser_dragonParticipantI would say nothing. I won’t give advice because it’s their work. It ‘s their baby not mine. They are professional writers, not me. They know what is good for their story, not me. It’s their story, not mine. They decides, not me. They put in it what they want, not what, I, you, we, want. And thank God for that: I don’t want to even imagine what this great show, what any other show would look like if writers listened to fans or worse to fangirls/boys *shudder*
March 20, 2013 at 10:19 pm #181223angiebelleParticipantOh, I get that- I would never tell them what direction to take the story in. They would go crazy if they tried to please everyone. I just want better pacing and a better balance. It drives me crazy when fans get all “I’m not gonna watch anymore if you do that!” Obviously, I love the show or I wouldn’t watch it.

I know how you feel! I always feel like yelling “Just stop watching then, won’t you!” to them. I mean it’s like a todler having a temper tantrum. They should be ignored til they know how to behave, but it is still irritating.
I don’t think anyone is throwing a temper tantrum here though, just making suggestions for making a great show even better. Because we ove the show, and we want it to be the best it can be.March 20, 2013 at 10:42 pm #181226faux paxParticipantBesides what’s already been said I have a couple more.
1) I would like a bit more of a hint as to what the “final battle” really is. I want to get more of an idea of the overarching reach of the show. In the first seasons we were led to believe the show would be about breaking the curse and they did that in the first season. Great. But I what about the rest of the show? What is it about? E&A are too meticulous about adding Checkovs guns to the show not to have a bigger picture in mind. I know it’s far too early to tell us but I would like a glimpse
2) Between Reina and Rumple there is a lot of manipulation in the show. That’s not a bad thing but it seems heavily weighted on one side. We need a character who is just as good of a chessmaster as Rumple but that works towards the greater good…even if they have to do darker things for it. Some has speculated that BF might be this kind of character but if she is I think we need to see some concreat proof soon.

Heros don't get their Happy Ending!
March 20, 2013 at 11:44 pm #181235maryrose d.ParticipantPlot line wise nothing much, except slowing it down, and not repeating the same thing over and over again, ex.. the million hearts we have seen, the almost redemption for everyone, the whole fake death thing, and the ever time someone dies their loved one is holding them with their enemy looking upon them evily.
Also Season 1 had a good start and finish, you knew the whole time the goal was break the cure, and just stuff happened in between to further tension which led to breaking of the curse, this Season it was like Regina has to be redeemed, or not, or maybe so, or not, or we should kill her, or her mother, or not.
Rumple was just like Belle, I love you, Regina, I hate you, Belle, I still love you but im doing magic, Cora, no we need to kill her, Emma, ok save Emma, Belle, I love you and now you lost your memories, Hook, die, Emma, find my son, Bae, son, Hook, stabbed, Bae and Emma, save him, Henry, my grandson, Cora, did you love me? Belle, I love you.
Emma and Snow were just like getting back to SB and then their family plot line went nowhere
Greg, Cora, Tamara. Whats the end goal here?
Also I’m one to read spoilers and sneak peeks but they give way to much away, I haven’t been shocked what so ever since Belle lost her memories. The promos and even names of episodes make things way to obvious, mainly 2×09 with Cora, 2×14 with Neal being Bae, 2×16 Cora dying, and 2×18 August coming back.
They should want to shock us with this stuff like with the whole Belle losing her memories thing. Also with breaks they need a better plan because they are way to inconistant.
Keeper of Swanfire's dream catcher, the Blue Fairy Plot Device, the contact name "Her", the lanyards, the trigger, the Netherworld room and necklace, Charming's quote on Thanksgiving, and PP's pic of Henry
March 21, 2013 at 8:27 am #181283spinninggoldParticipantI thought season 1 was Breaking the curse, and this season is reason the curse has been cast, which is finding Bae… What they are gonna do next season? Who knows… probably bean centric I guess
