But so far it sounds like Victoria (Cruella) is the only one coming back for multiple episodes and if we’re spending the whole season in the Underworld, that could be because of her dog-controlling powers.
Ah, good point, I haven’t thought of that!
You know, though, as soon as you introduce the Underworld, and especially its Ancient Greek variant, “dead is dead” becomes a slippery slope. In Greek mythology, there’s this sense that they’re separate worlds/realms, and much ritual activity goes into maintaining them as separate (drinking from the Lethe etc), even though occasional crossings do happen. But in a show that’s essentially all about realm jumping?
It’s going to be McGuffins for everyone, isn’t it? I mean, if that ridiculous mushroom is any indication…

A Savior descending into the Underworld to rescue/encounters a lot of lost souls? Yeah, sounds like she might be bringing them back with her in her Fully Realized! Savior role (a la the Harrowing of Hell, but without the Heaven end game)

Considering the Greek Underworld isn’t necessarily a place of suffering, this plot would be additionally problematic because there is something to be said for these lost souls to actually have moved on. But I have a feeling they’re going to keep with Disney tradition, and make Hades and his realm “Evil” (TM) which should garner the viewer’s sympathies for Emma’s resuscitation projects.

Ding ding ding….this is it for sure!
Season 5B Finale may just be this…the resurrection of the Savior who brings back all the lost, repented and redeemed, souls with her.
If Adam and Eddy really want to set up a redemption arc for Zelena…what better way to do it than return to where all of the wicked enviousness began: Cora.

Oh for sure. The subtleties and nuances of the Greek Underworld are rather lost with the writers. I don’t expect them to try and explore the various facets of how the Underworld was really constructed in the Greek mythos. It’s just simply “Hell” for them, but without calling it that.

A and E insist that is a law of magic that can’t be broken and no matter how hand wavey and Magical McGuffin-y, they’ve maintained that they are sticking with that.
Well, except with the water from the Well of Wonders.

Well, except with the water from the Well of Wonders.
And magic sand apparently. Let’s not forget about the time Jafar died as a young boy and magic sand brought him back to life. Or something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
