I’m really mad at Charming! I wasn’t entirely crazy about the character until he stepped in as a responsible Grandfather-figure, but I didn’t entirely dislike him either. Then, there was last night. I saw the sneak peek where he suggested that he go under a sleeping curse and that Snow’s kiss should bring him out of it. I initially thought, “He wouldn’t be that dumb because what if True Love’s Kiss doesn’t work?” Then, I saw that he went through with it. And, kissing in that realm didn’t work! I mean, honestly! How thick do you need to be! Initially, it was obvious that sending Henry back would be the safer option because he could be easily brought back. 😡
*sigh*
Maybe I should be mad at the writers for allowing him to make such an impulsively dumb choice and letting Regina and Gold go along with it. (Henry gets a pass because he’s still so young.)

I never thought to begin with that Snow could possibly awaken Charming inside the dream. I thought it was understood that she would have to get back to do it. Guess I was alone there…lol.
I had very mixed feelings about this episode. It felt way too rushed and so sloppy. There were things that I liked, mostly the stuff between Regina and Henry, and I did really like the exchange between Snow and Charming in the dream. But that I credit to the actors and awesome soundtrack, not the writing. The thing with Hook taking Aurora’s heart was STUPID! I don’t care how they end up explaining that away, it was dumb.
Two lines made the whole episode worth it for me:
“I climbed a beanstalk for this compass! Go get your own!”
And
“There’s one thing I know about your grandparents…they always find each other.” Oh, Lana Parilla! That line could not have been better delivered. You could just see her fighting to withhold a grimace and an eyeroll!November 27, 2012 at 4:38 am #162513MyrilParticipantThis guy likes to be in a coma, or now deep sleep. Sits back and lets the women do all the work again. Charming!
Wasn’t the best choice if thinking of what might be best for Henry. Okay, Charming was worried about Henry’s safty (good grandfathers are), but if so as well he should have been worried, who Henry would be left with, if something went wrong and he gets stuck in the sleeping curse for at least a while. Given he trusts Regina by now as much, that she wouldn’t willingly harm Henry, but still, leaving Henry and the town pretty much in Regina’s and Rumples hand doesn’t look like such good idea, not to forget Spencer is still around.
On the other hand we all know love is not really a supporter of reason and rational choices, right?
And putting Charming in this sleeping curse, him now trapped in that Fire Room, so more at risk in getting harmed in that state – it heighten the stakes for Snow, and Emma. We know Snow can be a badass, but it took something more to make her attack Mulan the way she did, close to kill her.
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯

The dwarves, Ruby and Granny, Jiminy and Geppetto, and all the rest. And he really did think he’d wake up, since he has so much faith in Snow.
November 28, 2012 at 1:28 am #162621elleParticipantTrue, Henry could be healed, but he would still feel the agony of the burns over and over–he wouldn’t truly gain rest, and he looked strained. Similar to Princess Aurora. Even Mr. Gold said it was recommended that Henry rest a bit before he go back. Plus, the room was a bit creepy, and Henry was having a hard time relaying the message. 🙂 I think Prince Charming thought that, as the adult and as the guardian, he should spare Henry that kind of pain. And he is a man of faith–he believes in the power of True Love. Obviously he was wrong about her being able to wake him up in dream world.
And Henry won’t be alone. Prince Charming may hate Regina, but he knows that she loves him and will care for him. And there are all of Prince Charming’s other friends–they will look after and protect him, too. 🙂

It’s pretty sad though that he’d do that knowing the risk ie he’d have to leave the town with out a leader and more importantly he’d have to leave Henry with Regina.
November 28, 2012 at 12:56 pm #162639elleParticipantHe knows Regina would never hurt Henry–he has let her take care of him and stay with him when he himself could not. 🙂
Even though both do not like one another, both love Henry, and both are willing to work together. Prince Charming may not like Regina, but he knows she would take care of Henry.
Plus, both Regina and Rumpelstiltskin told Prince Charming enough about Cora for him to understand that this was an urgent matter, and that Henry was still only a child and not strong enough to endure the dreams repeatedly.

That’s basically what it comes down to. He even stated explicitly to Henry that faith is how their family rolls. He believed that somehow, it’d all work out, and it’s safe to say that it will, even though the netherworld kiss wasn’t doable.
BTW, the bit where Snow was all concerned about him and he’s all, “It was worth it,” totally made me swoon. Where can I get one of them Prince Charming types who’d risk it all for me. *sigh*
November 28, 2012 at 4:59 pm #162677SlurpeezParticipantWhile I admire Prince Charming’s bravery, he could’ve thought his plan through more. Charming said he more of a doer while Snow was more of the talker, and I think it showed. Though his actions demonstrated his unbridled love for Snow, which was really touching and endearing on the one hand, he needs to work on his long-term strategy. Mr. Gold said he can’t prevent Henry’s soul from returning to the netherworld every time he goes to sleep, so what’s to keep Henry from going back again to that inferno? Also, we already saw that Rumple completely healed Henry’s burn so that his arm was good as new. Why not just let Henry return, since his soul is still doomed to relive the consequences of the sleeping curse with the knowledge that Mr. Gold will always heal him? Now Charming has risked leaving Henry without any of his biological family left in SB without certainty that Emma and Snow will return (even though we know they eventually will).
