Before everyone starts thinking Jen is this antisocial, fan hating person, it should be noted that Jen has met with fans just about EVERYWHERE else in Vancouver or wherever she is at the time and always been very gracious and friendly. She’s even been approached at airports and been gracious to the fans there. She’s under no obligation to accommodate all the folks who are watching them work in Vancouver. IIRC, she talked to fans all the time last year so if she did have a bad encounter this season (my guess is that it was this year), then I feel kind of bad for her because it had to have been pretty severe for her to totally stop meeting people on set. 🙁
It’s also my understanding that she’s actually a bit shy when meeting people so that may have something to do with it too. I have never heard anyone say a bad thing about Jen when I’ve read fan encounters with her (the Jen fan board I frequent is amazing at finding pictures and fan reports from those folks who were lucky enough to meet her somewhere), and even when she’s been obviously tired or weary, she’s always been nice to the fans. She and Ginny have both been in this business a LONG time now so I’m sure they’ve heard and seen it all on the various sets they’ve worked on and that may make them more inclined to steer clear of fan things while they’re working. I’ve also seen quite a few pics of Ginny with fans and they’ve also said she was very gracious so I can’t even imagine what VC could have seen to make them talk so badly about these two women. I’m honestly more inclined to believe that Jen and Ginny actually had their uncomfortable encounters with the VC guy and are just doing their best to steer clear of him now. I don’t blame them for that since he sounds like a complete loser to me. Who talks like that about people they probably don’t even know on Twitter??! It tells me more about the VC person than it does about the actresses. 😕
/end rant 🙁

I think people fail to realize this is her job. This is her work. Just because it is a little different than other peoples’ jobs, and just because some people step away when the time is right to meet fans, doesn’t mean anything about what she chooses to do when she is at work. She chooses how she bests handles herself at work and what is required of her. It has nothing to do with character. She knows herself best and under what circumstances she bests works. If she best works when she does not put herself out there with the fans, that is how she works best. She is making sure she can do her job to the best of her abilities.
This! Perhaps it’s just that when she’s working, she feels that she needs to stay focused and in the zone of what she’s shooting in order to give 100%, and the distraction of mingling with fans would throw her off her game. Considering she’s happy to meet with fans when she’s not shooting, that seems like a perfectly acceptable explanation IMO. And wanting to do her job properly isn’t something she should be judged negatively for.
April 5, 2013 at 5:39 am #184535schmackyParticipantIsn’t Jennifer the woman who tweeted out to her fans when she was on Broadway and said “Hey, come meet me before the play!”
http://www.imdb.com/video/hulu/vi4131783705/
She talks about it during the 2:20 mark. Granted, that was a few years ago so who knows what happened since then. But, seriously, cannot blame the woman for not wanting to meet fans during her place of work. There are other more appropriate times to do meet and greets.
April 5, 2013 at 7:24 am #184536angiebelleParticipantYes, of course- that makes perfect sense. She comes across as super nice from what I can tell. She does reply to tweets on occasion, and I love the whole concept of the Ugly Ducklings that she came up with for her fans. She seems very down to earth. In fact, much of the cast come across as the sort of people I’d love to get to know even if they weren’t on tv.
April 5, 2013 at 8:31 am #184537MyrilParticipantWhat has all this to do with copyright issues? ❓ ❓ ❓
Just wondering, because infringement of copyrights was why this topic was started, an announcement asking to take down any photos which have been posted on this forum without the permission of the rights holder and photographer.
As much as what Vancityfilming had been saying in one tweet might be disputable I think this is the wrong place, topic to discuss this any further. People can be morons or whatever but that doesn’t change that we have to respect copyrights, their right to say if, where and how their work, in this case photos, can be used.
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯

Nothing. There was a post created specifically for what Vancity was saying in his tweet but people were directed here because it was already being talked about in this thread.
April 5, 2013 at 3:38 pm #184562sacrlcParticipantHeatherC1275 is exactly correct. This guy is probably demanding to see all the actors when ever he wants and when one (or two) are either busy or not in the mood to talk to him, he get nasty. I have no doubt he is the one that they refuse to see during his past interactions with him. No actor should put up with abuse from a reporter. As was said earlier, everything I have read about Jennifer and Ginny has shown ample evidence that they meet with fans with graciousness and will sign autographs wherever they may be, onset or off. This guy’s “impression” is probably self-inflicted and his nastiness speaks for itself.
Don't grow up. It's a trap.
April 5, 2013 at 4:47 pm #184577MyrilParticipantWell, if majority sees this as the place to discuss …
In my opinion everyone deserves some respect, even a person we think might have tweeted something disrespectful once. The tweet in question was deleted by now, without apology though (at least no public one) but it’s something. People make mistakes. Vancityfilming had been called out for the tweet. Anyone now can choose to unfollow Vancityfilming, delete their bookmarks leading to the site and from now on ignore every picture they post, but that is something everyone has to decide for themselves.
What I think we shouldn’t do is now bashing on our part. Any speculation about how this person behaves when being on location and taking photos is just that: speculation. Unless reliable people have been on the scene and seen something that proves more misconduct all we have is guesswork which might end in badmouthing – and I believe we’re better than that.

April 6, 2013 at 4:51 am #184664wewerecursedParticipantMost people argue that when one becomes an actor, they just have to accept being hounded by fans and paparazzi as part of the job, which is true to an extent, but I just wish people would treat them like PEOPLE. They’re just people that are good at their jobs. I saw a youtube video of several people chasing Ginnifer through a parking garage yelling, “where are you going? Why won’t you talk to us?!” kind of meanly, and she was trying to ignore them, wouldn’t look at them, and walked quickly to get to her car. The description for it was something along the lines of “Ginnifer Goodwin being rude to her fans.” And I’m just like…she was ALONE, in a dark parking garage, and people were chasing her…she was probably scared! I sure would have been!
Whatever happened to JMO was probably really frightening, and it sounds to me like maybe she just doesn’t want to caught in a mass of people. Don’t blame her. All the stories and pictures I’ve seen of her and fans on the street or whatever and they way she talks so highly of her fans makes it sound to me like she’s a nice person.
A friend of mine is Snow White’s “friend” at Disney World, and recently Snow White was approached by Ginnifer who told her what a fantastic job she was doing. Absolutely made this Snow’s year. That sounds to me like a nice person. 🙂

OMG about the Ginnifer video- that’s awful! You’re right- she wasn’t being rude…she was probably freaked out! Why on earth do people do stuff like that? It makes me so upset. Poor Ginnifer! What happened to being polite and respectful? Honestly, I would never feel comfortable approaching an actor out in the real world. That is their own time.
I used to work in Disney entertainment myself- I was “friends” with the chipmunks, Pooh Bear, and the mice from Cinderella among others. You wouldn’t believe how people act towards the characters sometimes…I actually had someone hold me by the shoulders for a photo when I was trying to leave!
That’s so nice of Ginnifer to say something to the WDW Snow White- she must have been over the moon. I think Ginnifer comes across as a very cool person- she is a member of D23, the official Disney fan club! I love the pics of Josh and Ginnifer at Disneyland. I’ve also read a few accounts from fans who did get to meet her who said she was just wonderful.
