On another note, I’m not sure how I feel about Rumpel being Regina’s father, but they practically shouted it, and the Star Wars theme added several exclamation points.
I know a lot of people are saying that but I don’t see why. Yes, we know there was to be a kiss between Rumple and Cora. That just showed us that they had an intimate relationship back when Cora was younger.
However, knowing Rumple the way we do, setting up his daughter to cast the dark curse and go through all that misery is something he simply would never do. We know how he feels about Bae and Belle. Why would he feel any differently towards his daughter? Rumple lives for Bae. He’d be living for Reggie as well if she were his.
Yeah, I think Rumpel would fawn over any daughter of his he knew about, but Cora lies.

January 21, 2013 at 7:20 pm #169470RumplesGirlKeymasterI really don’t think Regina is Rumple’s daughter. I think they want us to think that, but it would make everything FAR TOO complicated. Henry Jr’s adopted mother (Regina) would also be his father’s half sister, making them cousins.
I think maybe Rumple and Cora did have an intimate relationship, but it wasn’t love, I think it was a power maneuver. Cora seduced him, got him to trust her, and then tricked him with the dagger. With regards to Rumple being Regina’s father, I think it’s a reminder that Cora won in the baby Regina battle. Cora calls her “MY daughter” like a reminder that she got out of her deal with Rumple for baby Regina."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"January 21, 2013 at 7:38 pm #169475PriceofMagicParticipantFavourite moments- All the Rumple scenes.
Least favourite: Ruby suddenly having super speed- where did that come from?
All magic comes with a price!

I didn’t buy that Regina, knowing all the terrible things Cora has done to her, would just fall back into her trap. Mr. Gold threatening the Charming family was unnecessary. And since when is Dr. Whale suicidal? I understood Belle’s reaction to Rumpel. Poor thing doesn’t remember a thing, so naturally, anyone claiming to be her true love and putting the moves on her will scare her. But like others have said, smashing the cup was just too much. Overall, most of my enjoyment of this episode came from a few funny character moments. Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin had some pretty funny lines. Grumpy was also pretty funny. I also really liked Regina’s line about “the two idiots.”

Least Favorite: Emma interrogating Greg seemed unnaturally suspicious
January 21, 2013 at 11:33 pm #169510wewerecursedParticipantWow, I can’t believe all the hate I see toward the episode! In my opinion, it was by far the best of the season! I’m just thrilled that the characters finally reacted in this one, unlike last week when it was like, “Oh hai, Archie, good for you for not being dead!” The pacing was spot on, and even though there was a LOT going on, time was well spent and even the characters commented on how crazy everything was, lol. The acting was amazing, especially line delivery!
Some of my favorite moments:
The whole conversation where Charming clues Snow and Emma in about Whale bringing back Daniel. I was SO disappointed about how Charming reacted to finding out Emma has magic. This made up for it.The whole breakfast scene. I love how they talk about the night’s events like it was normal. It was like a wink to the audience that their lives are so hilariously bizarre. I laughed so hard during the exchange between Emma and Snow. As you can see by my username, I loved the We Were Cursed! Line, so I was happy about its return. 😀 I can just imagine what went through Snow’s mind when she realized she slept with Dr. Frankenstein. Emma’s head bang on her arm was the best.
Belle.
Her acting here was awesome. I’m a big Rumbeller, but I love this kind of conflict. And smashing the cup? It was so sad! And that’s why I loved it, because it was sad, and good storytelling. Besides, Gold was being super creepy in the eyes of someone who doesn’t know him. Her screaming and freak out was totally appropriate.FRANKENWOLF! I didn’t even know I shipped this until now. Now I do. I so very, very, do!
Rumpel in Viktor’s land. “Rumpel Von Shtiltskin!”
The Star Wars ringtone. (Basically Disney shouting. OURS!)
Hook’s constant string of innuendos with Emma.
Seeing Gold return to his more menacing demeanor. Though I LOVE him with Belle, I just like seeing him like this, at least for now. Like with Regina I was starting to miss the evil him! “So glad I don’t give a bleep!”
When Gold threatened the family, even throwing a frightening look Henry’s way. Again, I don’t understand the hate toward this. A) Gold is not a good person. He’s not totally evil, either, which makes him an interesting, complex character. B) He is heartbroken, scared, and furious. The threat was more likely empty, just him trying to assert some of his old, scary self. Trying to remind him that he CAN kill them all. If he had asked them to watch over Belle nicely, they would think him weak, at least he thinks they will, and there is something important he wants done. He wants more than a debt to pay to fuel Emma to help him. C) It wasn’t pleasant, but that’s good storytelling. Again.
Least favorite:
Not many. I don’t like that they appeared to have dropped the ball with Archie. Where the heck was he?
Emma questioning Greg. I agree with other who already said that it was weird, suspicious, and unrealistic. The only benefit of doubt I’ll give Emma is for one, she’s not really a cop. Never was one, and really didn’t have a whole lot training, and she was also nervous. Believing Greg’s obvious lie could have been just because it was what she wanted to hear. But still, the exchange was weird, even though the line about not worrying about the guy he hit was funny.
Red’s sudden super speed was pretty weird, too, but you know what? I’ll allow it. Cause Red is epic, and if she wants to have super speed all of a sudden, then power to her!

Ummm, I don’t think they’ll go there somehow. And Regina would be Emma’s Aunt. Who just happned to adopt her nieces child? The relationships are already bizarre enough without this sort of complication. My brain is already aching keeping track of all these connections LOL. Although Lana did say in an interview that Regina possibly knows Neal, so something is up there I reckon.
I ship Regina Mills with Happiness!

-Rumpel Von Stiltskin! 😆
-Rumpel threatening to kill the Charmings. Of course I don’t want it to happen, but the way Robert Carlyle delivered the line just gave me a giggle fit.
-Dr. Frankenstein and Rumpelstiltskin’s deal. It was fun seeing how the two wizards met each other.
-Seeing the Charming family work together to protect the town.
-Mr. Gold’s “so glad I don’t give a damn” line.
-Ruby’s “I ate my boyfriend” line. It’s moments like this that really make me appreciate the writers. 😆Least Favorite Moments:
-*Sigh* Rumbelle. Why do the writers insist on ripping my heart out and stomping on it? Last week’s episode gave so much progress to not only Rumbelle, but Belle’s character as well. And then BAM! Gone. They take away all that awesome character and relationship development by erasing Belle’s memory. I’m excited to see how the storyline unfolds, but it was still heartbreaking to watch.
-CHIP!!! 😮
-Some of the flashback scenes between Victor and his father. They just felt really forced and unnecessary.
-Cora manipulating Regina. I just wanted Regina to get up and scratch Cora’s eyes out. 😡
-Speaking of Cora…WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT?!?!?! She kissed Rumpel! Belle’s Rumpel! MY RUMPEL!!! Ugh, I have a feeling where the writers are going with this and I HATE it. If Regina turns out to be Rumpel’s daughter, then he better not know about it. Rumpel clearly loves Baelfire and Belle, and he would never knowingly do this to his own flesh and blood. Never.January 22, 2013 at 1:27 am #169525ceegeParticipantWhat as sad episode! I liked it, but felt so sad for the characters, the sense of lost they felt.
Favorite moments:
-The opening scene, especially “Gold, are you insane” “Yes, I am!”
-The conflict between the characters as to what to do with the outsider
-Regina referring to “the two idiots”
-Robert’s performance, as a broken Mr. Gold, and as Rumple in the land without colour.
-Daniel’s announcement that Raphael is going to be a guest on the podcast. (Sorry, does that count as part of the episode?)Lease favorite:
-The promo, and the announcement that the next episode is in 3 weeks.
Frankly, I liked this episode, and don’t understand all the hate directed at it. Then again, I found “Child of the moon” boring, and a lot of people liked it. To each their own. All that to say I did not really have a least favorite moment.
January 22, 2013 at 3:42 am #169551elleParticipantI don’t think this episode was bad, but it wasn’t good either. There was just a lot more flaws than there normally are in the episodes.
First off, the Cora and Regina scenes annoyed me for how short they were. I knew Regina’s redemption would not last. I knew since the beginning that she would fall off the wagon. But it felt too quickly that it all happened–one minute she blames her mother for framing and admits that the case against her was arinight and all, and the next minute she cries on her mom’s shoulder. I thought that should have been given a whole episode.
I will say that Cora did a good job of using Henry and Regina’s feeling of isolation and helplessness against her. That was what made it believeable.
Also, the arc with the Greg should also have been given more attention–maybe even a seperate episode. It was great to see some of the characters torn between letting him die and live–I knew the Charmings would be quickly want to save him, but some of the other characters were conflicted and it would have been nice to see more of that–instead, it all felt like filler until the very end when it is revealed that Greg does know something.
I was a bit angry with Rumpelstitlskin in the beginning when he refused to heal Greg–he seemed way to bitter with everyone. I went back to feeling sorry for him when he tried to reunite with Belle–I think he might have rushed it a bit, but he was desperate to reunite with Belle. It was when he threatened the Charming family that my pity went out the window. I’m a minority here, but it disgusted me how he just went up to them and threatened to kill them all–including an 11 year old child. It is not funny or sweet or even understandable.
The Charmings have never been cruel to Belle. They kept their distance from Rumpelstiltskin and he did the same. Prince Charming had helped save Belle. And they helped take her to the hospital after what happened with Captain Hook. It especially disturbed me when he glanced at Henry–he seemed to either include him in the situation or bascially threaten to make him an orphan. I don’t care how he felt about losing man, for a man who is fond of children, he was just disturbing.
Lastly, I think one of my overall main problems was that the episode didn’t feel coherant. It felt like everything was just thrown there–none of the episode were really connected with each other. They just seemed thrown together–I don;t blame the acting but the writing here.
