Some of my favorite moments:
The whole conversation where Charming clues Snow and Emma in about Whale bringing back Daniel. I was SO disappointed about how Charming reacted to finding out Emma has magic. This made up for it.I’m glad we got to see Snow’s reaction to Daniel, though really, Charming should have mentioned it to her before then.
The whole breakfast scene. I love how they talk about the night’s events like it was normal. It was like a wink to the audience that their lives are so hilariously bizarre. I laughed so hard during the exchange between Emma and Snow.
Yes, I loved the whole vibe of that scene, was really well done!
Red’s sudden super speed was pretty weird, too, but you know what? I’ll allow it. Cause Red is epic, and if she wants to have super speed all of a sudden, then power to her!
Word! 😆 It did take me out of the scene for a moment, but she’s a freakin’ werewolf, so it’s entirely possible she can do that, even if we’ve never seen it before.

First off, the Cora and Regina scenes annoyed me for how short they were. I knew Regina’s redemption would not last. I knew since the beginning that she would fall off the wagon. But it felt too quickly that it all happened–one minute she blames her mother for framing and admits that the case against her was arinight and all, and the next minute she cries on her mom’s shoulder. I thought that should have been given a whole episode.
Regina did seem to fall for Cora’s game rather quickly, which has me contemplating if maybe Regina’s playing her, to lead her into a trap of some description. It’d be refreshing to see Regina be the manipulatOR for a change, instead of the usual manipulatED.
I went back to feeling sorry for him when he tried to reunite with Belle–I think he might have rushed it a bit, but he was desperate to reunite with Belle.
He was no doubt hoping for a quick fix so he could go find Bae without having to worry about what was going on will Belle.
The Charmings have never been cruel to Belle. They kept their distance from Rumpelstiltskin and he did the same. Prince Charming had helped save Belle. And they helped take her to the hospital after what happened with Captain Hook.
I don’t think he’s worried about them being cruel to her, more likely it was his way of saying a) Don’t you dare poison her mind against me while I’m gone, and 2) Make sure neither Hook or Cora get anywhere near her.

And that there is yet again a break for several weeks before a new episode, makes me sad. That Cora seemingly have successfully manipulated Regina into taking of down the wrong road with her, makes me sad.
But these are all positive sad things, so to speak. Something else, wich is negative, that I’ve been thinking about for some time, is that it feels like they(Once’s writer team) are skating over storylines to easily.
Think about the Archie being kidnapped story, wich now seems to be resolved. So it was just used as an easy mean to put Regina back in to her mothers arms. That’s fine, but to easy.
And there have been several other things. I wish they would dig deeper, just try to at the least. They got so many delisiously juicy things- the dreams world with the dreamcatcher, wraith and red room thing- the magic vs science thing. Even the parent/child relationship thing, wich they do seem to try and explore a lot, feels like skating on the surface.
Although its not about this episode only, just a feeling i’ve been getting lately.
Keep thinking- “Well, they are saving it for later episodes” But get to it already ! geese…! We don’t have ever after 🙄January 23, 2013 at 2:13 am #169648timespacerParticipantFavorites: Ruby and Whale’s monster-to-monster conversation was a good exploration of what their characters have in common.. The scenes between Regina and Cora – the performance by Lana and Barbara was great. The whole look of the black and white sequences was impressive.
Least Favorite: Emma’s interrogation of Greg. I expected Emma’s experience would make her a little smoother.

I looked at it as adding to the tragedy of it all. Regina sacrificed her soul to make everyone completely miserable. Turns out, they’re not necessarily completely miserable. So Regina’s evilness was in vain. It doesn’t excuse that she did it, it makes it all the more sad what a wretched witch she became, and it didn’t even get her what she wanted.
I agree. I’m sure that Dr Frankenstein/Whale and Red/Ruby would have far preferred to remain in their homes but… y’know, they can see how they have had 28 years of respite from some of the more unpleasant aspects of their fairy tale lives. Much like Sleepy’s “as much as we like things like penicillin….” comment – they can acknowledge that Regina’s curse did back fire in the sense that it took them from feudal lands where disease and death were rampant, to a land where there are civil rights, modern medicine, voting instead of feudal overlords (in theory anyway…. did they not think about the weirdness of electing Regina as mayor repeatedly when everyone was scared of her? Or is that up there with the fuzzies like the not aging for 28 years?!)
Favourite moments: Chip being smashed to pieces (even though it made me 😮 ) Frankenwolf chit chat on the wharf. Snow’s “Daniel came back – what???” Hook’s efforts at chatting up Emma when he was bruised and bashed up. Charming family breakfast with the “enough with the book, I’m sleepy!!” and the discussion of who Frankenstein is – doctor or monster. And Igor… I love Igor – and it always makes me think of the Igors in Pratchett’s Discworld. I just keep waiting for him to say “yeth Masther….”
Least favourite: Father Frankenstein was a prat. I get that was the point, but still… he was awful. Would be good if we knew if Gerhardt had been locked up for the past 28 years or if he went on a rampage.
January 23, 2013 at 2:51 pm #169712elleParticipantI think we can assume that Gerhardt is still locked up. He wasn’t able to break out of the room before–if he could have, he would have done so. Instead he wither just sat in the chair, or attacked his brother briefly until he managed to remember. And Dr. Whale himself demanded that Regina send him back–he wanted to find his brother.
Time was probably frozen for 28 years for him, too.

I bet he is very HUNGRY ….

Seriously, hubby and I high-fived across the couch when she did that. He was creeping on her, kissed her while she slept, and refused to go when she begged him to go. As you can tell we’re not Rumbelle shippers, lol.
Other favorite moments – Emma and Hook’s dynamic, his relentless hitting on her, seeing him vulnerable but still semi-triumphant. I was so shocked that this show actually *went* there at the end of last episode, and we were both intrigued to see that he’s basically doesn’t care about living now that his revenge is complete.
Least favorite moment: Regina whimpering and conceding to Cora. Ugh, her character drives me up the wall. Is it bad that I sort of hope they kill Regina off at the end of the season? Is that just me?

I don’t want Regina to die but I’m definitely over her being all sympathetic. It’s getting annoying. She comes across as this insanely weak individual. She needs constant praise if she does something right and the smallest of efforts to manipulate her back to the “dark side” work. I’m ready for Regina to be all out evil again. She was much more fun last season than this season.

What he threatened to do was terrible and completely uncalled for, but after seeing nearly every character act like a complete idiot in this episode, Mr. Gold’s ominous threat summed up my feelings about most of the characters on the show. And of course, it was perfectly delivered by Robert Carlyle.
Least Favorite Moment: CHIP!!!!!!! 😮 That was so sad. 😥

Robert Carlyle is so so good at that aspect of this character, I completely agree with you.
