Oh boy.
I am a little lost so sorry if this gets mixed up but here we go.
Ingrid, Helga, and Third Sister (Gerta?) were all sisters in Arendelle. One day Ingrid (Snow Queen) and Helga vanished. Third Sister was left to rule and had Elsa and Anna.
1) Where is Helga?
2) Why does Helga look like Emma?
3) Was Ingrid responsible for Helga’s disappearance?
1. I think Ingrid accidently killed her sister…
2. Doppelganger
3. Yep.
If the above is not true, then Helga is our S4B Villainess

Just as an FYI, Gerda is the name of the main girl character in the original Snow Queen story. She’s not the Snow Queens sister, but is the girl who seeks the Snow Queen out after she takes Kai.
1) Where is Helga?
Most likely frozen by Ingrid. I agree with WR. Emma is Helga’s doppelgänger. “The savior shall be my sister” sounds like Ingrid was responsible for her sister’s death, and then heard a prophesy that her sister would be reborn as the savior. I dunno. Weird.

I haven’t seen the episode yet, but it was fairly obvious to me just from reading some recaps that somebody prophesied that Emma will form one-third of Ingrid’s new ‘family’, not that she’s somehow Ingrid’s biological sister Helga reincarnated.
I’m also curious if Helga also had magical powers like Emma, if they’re really trying to set parallels? Plus, Ingrid wanting just magical family members would make sense, since she clearly has a prejudice against non magic users.
From what I understand, Ingrid was originally going to form her new ‘family’ unit with both of her biological nieces, ruling out the idea that she’s looking only for people with magic.

Originally she thought Anna might do, but Anna is “the odd woman out” because she doesn’t have magic.

Hmm. Thanks for the clarification, because, like I said, I haven’t seen the episode yet.
Based just on the way Helga was described in casting sides, I don’t think she had magic, but we’ll learn for sure next week.
I would like to know who, exactly, made the prophecy about Emma forming one-third of Ingrid’s new ‘family’, so hopefully that’s something that we won’t have to wait too long to discover.
If Ingrid froze Helga, could she still be an ice statue somewhere, capable of being thawed out? I wanna say no because that’s something that should be included and explained in any post-OUAT Frozen stuff if Anna and Elsa gain an aunt (who is younger than them), and I doubt they’re allowed to add to the Disney canon that much. But on the other hand it’d be a way they could write Anna and Elsa out of the show and get them back to Arendelle if they go to find and thaw their long lost ice statue aunt. Ingrid wants her happy little family of three, including Emma who looks like Helga, so having Anna, Elsa and Helga reunited as a happy little family of three might be a way to twist that ending when Ingrid’s plan backfires.
