Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but I googled helga and fairy tales.  I came up with an Icelandic fairy tale.  Almost sounds like a variation of Cinderella…

Hans Christian Andersen wrote a lengthy tale “The Marsh King’s daughter” about a girl named Helga. There is a connection to water lilys in it. Here a summary of it (it has a link to the text in it). As usual for Andersen it’s somewhat darker stuff, .

An interesting element of that story is that Helga’s mother dressed as a wild swan before she was taken by the marsh king, here we have another link between Helga and Emma.

Slurpeez, stop trying to make “fetch” happen.  It’s not going to happen.

Anyway I sent this theory to the feedback email:

    Emma is Helga reincarnated.

Snow was born during a harsh winter, right?  Much like Winter Storm Elsa, AKA the Polar Vortex.  Now, a common theory is that this winter was caused by Ingrid.  What if this storm is what got Ingrid trapped?  What if she killed Helga the same way Elsa nearly killed Ana [sic] (and Ingrid, as far as I’m concerned, killed Hans)?

Anyway, Helga could have shattered (like the mirror) and her pieces could have ben blown by the storm as far as Misthaven.  Snow would then have been born during this storm and somehow “bonded” with the pieces of Helga.

Hasn’t an actress been cast to play ‘adult’ Helga though? I’m so confused ~_~

This might be way off but my theory was that Helga was Snow’s mother. She ran away because she was in danger and eventually met Snow’s father and the rest is history.

It would explain why Emma looks like Helga AND nothing like her family. Plus it would also be part of the family tie in.

Snow’s mother was named Eva and she was from the northern Kingdom. North=cold, perhaps, but I doubt it. If she ran away, I dont think she’d be considered a princess anymore, plus the name difference, plus A&E said Elsa wouldn’t be related to anyone in the main cast.

I forgot about that episode. Good point. Just thought it would have been a crazy twist, since everyone keeps getting all intertwined.

Now that the next episode has aired I’m going to just say what I’m thinking about Helga.

She really doesn’t look all that much like Emma. At least not to the point where I’d be like “wow Emma she looks JUST like you.”  But maybe the fault in that lies with the family tree artist of Arendelle.

Though if they REALLY wanted her to look like Emma they could have always cast Ginnifer Goodwin with a blonde wig. Oh, wait….  🙂
