Two things I liked about this episode:
I think we may have seen plenty of Kora…and Regina as well. I may be completely wrong but I love the idea that only some of Regina’s scenes were her and not others. I think the scene at the apartment was definitely Regina, but I’m not so sure about her other appearances. It’s fun to think that maybe the writers were messing with us in this episode, though again, I’m probably wrong.
I also liked seeing Tiny with the dwarves at the end. He basically found new “brothers” to replace the ones that he lost, and they are much nicer. Jorge Garcia is a joy to watch. He always plays characters that are very endearing and easy to love. I’ve seen him in Alcatraz, Lost, and Once Upon a Time and he always plays a character that I feel I would want to be friends with.
I didn’t quite get the line about Charming not having his name in the axe because he wasn’t a dwarf. Neither is Tiny.
I like the cross promotion in this episode. Right after we see the reveal of Jack, we see a commercial for the new movie about Jack, which looks good by the way. Bryan Singer is a good director.

I mean it looked like he had not thought about not having magic until Henry mentioned it. But then once he removed the scarf he acted kinda funny. He did not forget who he was but something might have happened.
-Will going back to Storybrooke bring back Rumple’s power or does it remove it completely? If it removes Rumple's power completely then what we got in the previews of Cora wanting Rumple's dagger to control him won't work. Which will be pretty awkward when it happens…but he will be very vulnerable 😯 😯 😯
-Why do Regina and Cora need a distraction? What are they up to?
-Why does Cora want the beans?
-Is it possible that all the scenes with Regina where not all Regina but Cora instead? It was nice to find out Charming’s really name, David!

The dwarfs found a brother to replace the one they lost, too.

Sure Tiny is; he’s a dwarf giant.

Oh, I hope they start calling it that.

February 11, 2013 at 9:03 am #172417PheeParticipantPrince James was an EPIC douchebag! Poor Jack, getting seduced by the pretty and then being left to die.
One of my fave parts of this ep was Snow’s, “I had a lot of fun today,” Ginny totally nailed the delivery. For all the running around with arrows and whatnot, that scene in the street was when she seemed completely Snow-ish IMO.

I absolutely love how vulnerable Rumple is right now. Magic-free, high chance of forgetting who he is, experiencing our aggravating and confusing world for the first time, a possible ugly encounter with Bae expected, and on top of that, being aggravated by Henry!! hahahahaaa The experience of this trip is his price for the magic he used on the talisman, IMO.
Everything with Rumple in this ep was fabulous. I love how completely out of his depth he is right now. That scene in the bathroom where he couldn’t heal himself, you could feel his apprehension increase 10 fold in that one moment. Will certainly be interesting to see if this stripping of his powers is a permanent thing, or if it’s conditional on him being outside SB. Hmmmm.

correct me if i’m off the road here… but its not the first time that i hear that hooks ship is made by enchanted wood… why has it been mentioned over a few episodes now… there does exist enchanted wood novels…where there is a land of wizards, a land of white rabbit and so on… and then august was also made by enchanted wood, and he and emma did came to storybrooke through enchanted tree…. they all are some kind of related to this enchanted tree or wood or forest…. i dont even know what my question is…but does any one have a clue about his ship? 😕 😕 😕 😕
Don’t think we’ve seen any mention of Hook’s ship being made from enchanted wood before. Guess it’s not that surprising though, considering it survived a voyage through the ocean, which you’d think would tear a ship apart.

Yes, I liked that they gave him a new family with the dwarves. Had to laugh at the big area of land they were digging up though. They did notice the size of the cutting, right? 😆

February 11, 2013 at 11:21 am #172432evilqueenParticipanthcadia, about Hook’s ship.
I’m actually surprised to hear his ship is made from the enchanted wood. Because in that case, why did Cora need the ash from the enchanted wardrobe in Snow’s palace? She could’ve just chip a bit off the ship? Or not even that, simply sail it to another world, just like that? (since it has the necessary magical properties) Obviously they knew about the compass for a long time even before Emma arrived so they could just gather the two things and have them ready, Cora didn’t need to follow Emma and Snow to her castle to get the ash!
I know this is just a technicality, but since it has been mentioned in the show, I think it’s worth spotting 😉 And why mention it in the first place, in this small talk between Hook and Charming, I hope there is a reason…February 11, 2013 at 11:36 am #172439PheeParticipant@EvilQueen wrote:

The ash from the enchanted wardrobe wood was special because it was the remains of a portal. Hook still needed a bean to get to Neverland, (and to our world), so his boat’s wood doesn’t have the same portal properties that the wardrobe wood did.

I do hope we are going somewhere with this, PLEASE WRITERS!
I’m not that worried in this case. This was a definite set-up episode. They have a lot of balls in the air at once in this elaborate juggling act. I was a bit worried at the beginning of the season, but they have done an impressive job and are moving the story forward much faster than I would have expected. None of the annoying filler of last season.
With the pace they’re keeping, I’d expect to start seeing the payoffs as early as next week.
February 11, 2013 at 11:40 pm #172606MyrilParticipantMy very first after watching this episode the first time: What’s the rush? I wish they would take more time to develop characters, their relationships.
Sometimes wonder, if they really have so many story lines left to tell for a couple of more seasons if they keep throwing nearly every episode a new story line at us as they seem to do at the moment. Okay, it’s a build up for a hopefully grande finale and beyond, and most stories are or maybe will be connected, but nevertheless they are very close to overdoing it in my opinion.
We have the story of amnesiac Belle, nearly forgotten as well kinda amnesiac Sneezy, the story of Greg the stranger, of Cora on a power conquering trip, Regina’s fight for Henry, Hook’s revenge, Rumple’s search for his son, Emma finding her new identity + figuring out (her) magic + getting used to have parents + being a parent herself besides being the one to save Storybrooke, the world and everybody. We have Snow and David having to deal with for a change not being separated for a while. There is the fight between the “evil” team and the “good” team lurking (good and evil can be so ambiguous, especially in this show). There was the Story of Dr. Whale (but guess won’t hear much about him anymore for the rest of the season), Ruby and her grandma are still involved (but somehow now doubt, we get to hear more about them this season). Without closure the stories of Phillip, Mulan and Aurora. Oh, and then there is the still unanswered question of what happened to August. And what about the fairies? And now we have Anton and the possibility of growing magic beans in Storybrooke, which eventually Cora will try to steal. Not to forget what spoilers are telling us or we are hoping for, the whole happy family reunion, or not so happy one, Snow White's mother, young Cora.
Feeling like sitting in an overspeeding carousel. 🙄
Now back to the this episode.
– Jorga Garcia was a joy to watch again
– Hook’s ship has a bit of magic build in, so to speak, well, good to know, not that anyone seemed to have wondered so far
– magic beans aren’t an extinct plant – no surprise there
– what a waste of the character of Jack. I liked the twist with Jack being a woman, and one b@dass of, but just for this one episode?
– James was some charming nasty piece of work. And thanks that they let David muse, if he could have turned out like him if. My opinion: He could have. But good that Snow believes otherwise, because people believing in you is worth a lot. Although have by now the impression, David got a tad too comfortable in the role of warrior, hero and ruling prince as well, there is a subtle arrogance occasionally. As much as I think it was somewhat sterotyped father – mother banter when David and Snow talked in the end about returning (he has trust in Emma’s abilities, she worries about her emotional state; wish they hadn’t done it), it felt somewhat off. Nice that David trusts Emma and wants to give her space, but at some point he should just take her in his arms and hold her. Guys! 😉
– Regina is such a bad liar. And Snow and David are bad in detecting lies. The only thing Regina seemed to be a little surprised about was, that Henry was with Emma. But think she was more angry about it, missed chance to get a hold of Henry.
– Carleyle was again brilliant, his growing distress and insecurity, and his tantrum in the bath was so believable (and very Rumplestiltskin apt). Wonder if he did forget something in the seconds without the shawl, or if he feels like he did, a tiny but important detail. For sure the experience unsettled him, he was vulnerable, totally depending on Emma, nothing he wanted to feel. Mind, he first wanted to go all on his own. Must be utterly frustrating for him. Some nice score music
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯
