That was awesome! It was so simple but effective. Certainly explains why Nealfire was SO quick to believe – August knew who he was.

I had carefully examined screenshots from “Tallahassee” and had concluded that it was the typewriter. And one of our listeners had made a prediction way back then that proved to be very accurate!
Honestly, I was hoping for something more interesting.
February 18, 2013 at 4:48 pm #174082mich7ParticipantI didn’t think it was all that interesting either…was really kind of disappointed.
February 18, 2013 at 5:04 pm #174090SlurpeezParticipantI think this reveal lends more credence to the theory that either August or the Blue Fair is the author of Henry’s book. August somehow knew about Baelfire being the reason Rumple created the dark curse in the first place, which the BF could’ve told August. I’d like to see Baelfire and August interact some more to see how much detail he knew.

February 18, 2013 at 5:54 pm #174125angiebelleParticipantI think it was rather clever- August couldn’t possibly have had any magic in our world- it wouldn’t make sense for him too. I couldn’t come up with anything that would convince Neal of the truth…but August calling him out on his real identity was perfect. Now we have a new mystery though- how on earth did August know about Baelfire?!
I do think Blue Fairy knows more than she is letting on, but I disagree with those who think she is bad. I think she is a force of good, but that fairies may lack human emotions- it’s a conflict of head verses heart.
February 18, 2013 at 5:55 pm #174126KebParticipantYeah, I don’t trust Blue either, but I’m skeptical that she set Rumple up to fail and create the curse. I think she hoped he would go with Bae for the good of everyone, and she honestly seemed worried about the curse when it became imminent.

February 18, 2013 at 6:12 pm #174129GaultheriaParticipantThis was a brilliant way for August to reveal to Neal that he knew Neal’s secret. August is a carny, and he knows how to sell a show. If he had just spoken the words, Neal would have run away. Instead, he held out the mystery of the box, and Neal was hooked just like we were.

Everyone expected the box to have something really crazy in it, i.e. a fairy, a magic bean, a portal, psychic paper, etc, but instead we get something incredibly normal. It’s a good fake-out, and definitely a twist, but I was kind of underwhelmed.
The same thing goes with Henry’s “reveal” of the night. We were all expecting something nutty, like Henry is going to become a dark wizard/the Dark One, he’s going to kill Emma/Charming/Snow/Regina/Bae, he has to die to get everyone back to FTL, he’s really a dragon/changeling/shapeshifter/a messiah. Instead we get “he’ll be Rumple’s undoing”, which could mean absolutely anything, including something harmless.

You’re absolutely right. BUT, it does add a great new arc that can really go in a ton of different directions.
