Neal’s “I need her” sounded kind of sad to me – not like a declaration of love, and even the wording was weird – he used “need” which is really odd for guys to do. He did not say “I love her” or “I miss her.” I am inclined now to think maybe a curse of some kind is involved. Tamara lies. She said she is not magical but maybe she really is.

I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one wondering this. His reaction when Emma asked why she was coming really suggests that this is the case, and it’s obvious that Tamara was angling for a particular result when she targeted him. It’s possible that she simply has him infatuated, but…he apparently waited for Emma for a decade and then they’re engaged after about a year?

A little Love Potion #9, so to speak…[SNIP]

Revision: I was sort of thinking of this a minute ago, but remembered some other stuff. “Love Potion #9” was an early 90s movie with Sandra Bullock where these two scientists experiment on a love potion the guy gets from a gypsy.

The first thing Tamara wanted to do was experiment and test the potion she got from the Dragon, and Greg Mendel is the name of a scientist. I can’t recall what thread it was in, but someone mentioned something about GOAT (yes, I love that!) combining magic and science, which is what Dr Frankenstein/Whale did.

    Great points!

I love the reference to Love Potion #9…that song is now in my head šŸ˜† . I posted something about GOAT (GregOwen And Tamara) working together. Your idea that they synthesized something is even better (and maybe that’s why they are into each other too….workplace accident?).

Pinocchio made a reference to the magic versus science thing, with his line that magic, nor science could cure him. Which is odd, because actually magic could cure him if he were brave, truthful and unselfish….unless that’s a reference to living a good life and being saved by God? Pinnochio does say Thank God earlier when talking to the Dragon, and we haven’t seen a whole lot of the expectation of divine intervention in the show though, just references to fate or destiny. I think he just says it as the common expression of intense relief, not a religious declaration. Anyway, I think Tamara very well could have slipped Neal something.

If not, I agree that Phee also has a good theory, that Neal was just trying to move on. Sometimes people do start relationships with another in the hope they will get over someone they think they cannot have. They may even experience love and stand by the commitment they make (or already made, like in Jane Eyre), even when the “true love” returns to the scene. Stories play that out as a tragic sad state of affairs, or as in OUAT, the second choice lover is then shown to be BatShipcrazy.

I would think that Neal is in love with her. Hence the moment when he said that he needed her. However, when he met her, he had literally just come off a conversation with August that, in his head, sealed his fate with Emma, and he didnt want to be alone anymore. So, yes, I believe he only allowed himself to fall for Tamara because of that. He is still in love with Emma and I really hope they get their second chance.

If Neal is not bewitched, I hope dumps Tamara as soon as he learns she is playing him and cheating on him with Owen. If Neal is bewitched, I want Emma to break his curse with true love’s kiss, since I believe she is his intended.

I foresee it playing out as such:
–Neal learns that Tamara is wicked and is working with Greg
–Neal wants to get back together with Emma
–Emma doesn’t want to open herself up to Neal ever again
–Somehow they, plus Henry and Hook, (and possibly others) wind up in Neverland
–Hook and Emma start up because you gotta let CaptainSwan have their time in the sun or else we would never hear the end of it.
–Hook and Emma help each other heal and move on
    –Hook and Emma end, amicably
    –SWANFIRE

I really do not think Emma and Hook are ever going to trust each other enough to have any sort of relationship.

I like the idea that Neal is bewitched and It does seem possible that that’s how it’s going to play, BUT that still leaves one big question: IF she did cast a spell on him, how did she do it? It was heavily hinted in the epp that she couldn’t do magic and besides that There really wasn’t magic in the world until AFTER Emma broke the curse (which was after Neal and Tamara met).

    any ideas?

I think they have too much chemistry not to at least try. I think Emma can help Hook move past Milah and his revenge and that Hook can help Emma learn to forgive and trust again.

Also, I know this may not matter a whole lot, but Adam and Eddy will never hear the end of it if they don’t give CaptainSwan at least a few episodes.

Also, I read through all the posts and I highly doubt that Neal is bewitched. I think he was a man desparate for love and Tamara took advantage of it.

Now that he is back and Emma is playing the “I dont care” card, he truely believes he has no chance with her. (Guys are a bit dim in that regard, lol.) So he needs Tamara because he is dealing with so much and he feels like he needs the person that he loves and thinks loves him back.

I foresee him getting hurt by all the things that are going down between him, Tamara, and Owen. I dont think they are going to flesh out Swanfire till next season, but I am hoping to at least get a kiss this season.
