Episode 3×03 (Quite a Common Fairy) pretty heavily implies that Mulan is in love with Aurora. If that’s true, the question is what the show will do with Phillip. Perhaps it will be revealed that the Phillip they rescued from the wraith isn’t the original Phillip or that his mind was damaged in the wraith-world they saved him from. Or perhaps it will be revealed that he really did die and he’s actually a ghost. I think over the next few episodes, they will show him behaving strangely and Aurora will realize that he is not the man that she fell in love with.
[adrotate group="5"]October 14, 2013 at 4:11 am #215706MysteryKat25ParticipantI don’t think there’s anything wrong with Phillip at all! He was proven to be Aurora’s true love when he woke her with True Love’s Kiss and they are happily married and expecting a child now.
Mulan’s feelings (whether they were for Phillip as it seemed to be in all of season 2, or now suddenly Aurora) is and always will be an unrequited love.
Just because Mulan does have feelings for one of them doesn’t mean they have to happen. It means that in a triangle, someone always gets hurt and this triangle was never going to end well for Mulan. I have hopes that she will go off and find someone of her own to love as it was sad to see her like that but it was inevitable. Any character can be in love with whomever they want to be but Mulan having feelings for Aurora definitely doesn’t require kicking Phillip to the curb, especially since Mulan chose to not say anything after all and went off on her own journey with Robin Hood and his Merry Men, leaving Aurora to bask in the glow of having Phillip back and expecting a child.
I do hope we learn how he was brought back but I have no doubt that it really is Phillip as I was sure he wasn’t dead to begin with. Pretty sure it’s really him and they’re happy as Aurora couldn’t wait to tell Mulan her exciting news. I think she’d know if it wasn’t really him, especially since they’ve had some time together that we just haven’t seen.
We will hopefully get some more backstory on them in the future (we need more on Maleficent, how Phillip was rescued etc etc) but I really don’t think they’ll get rid of him to make SleepingWarrior happen any further than it already has. Aurora has been proven as Phillip’s true love and if they were interested in going that route, they could have left him as “dead” or actually killed him off and let the two women bond over their loss and go on adventures, none of which would have included trying to rescue him.
Sorry to burst any shipper bubbles but given that the actors are all on other shows and are side characters, and they went as far as to try to give Phillip & Aurora their happy ending by being back together and having a baby, I really doubt that we’ll see much of any of them, much less have there be some big FakePhillip storyline. In order to realize he’s different, we’d have to actually spend time with the character and we really haven’t been for various reasons. I think their storyline is pretty well wrapped up now, minus a couple flashbacks here and there that might shed some light on stories of others.
I felt really bad for Mulan tonight, but since we met them with Phillip & Aurora being true love, and now that they’ve rescued him, I really don’t see them needing to get rid of him so that Mulan can get her happy ending, but that she is actually meant for someone else and has just been pining away for someone she knows truly loves someone else. I just don’t see them breaking up a proven true love couple on the show as it would undermine absolutely everything we’ve been led to believe about true love.

Agreed with that. Dunno if this is exactly a spoiler, so dunno if it really needs blacking out, but some of us have been stalking all the actors on Twitter/Instagram throughout the filming of the season, and these three don’t appear to have been in Vancouver again since 303 was shot. At the time, we were all wondering why the actresses for Aurora and Mulan were there, but the guy who plays Phillip was elsewhere, and now we know. So I wouldn’t be getting my hopes up about any more storyline with them in the immediate future. Someone asked at the NYCC Panel if we’d find out how Phillip came back, and they said definitely not in the first 11. (Sorry if any of that should be spoilered out, but I figured it’s sorta general info that could prevent people getting their hopes up and being disappointed.)
I would love to get that story of how they saved him some day. I’d love to see how and why Aurora was cursed, and the same for her mother. Out of the three of them though, I’d guess that Mulan might be the one we’re more likely to see more of at some point, especially if we’re gonna be getting more of Robin in the future.
I think that for now, they’ve left her story as one of unrequited love because that might be a theme we’ll see again this season with other characters as well. The Little Mermaid is all about unrequited love, (especially the original version), and *prepares to duck and run* I think we might get shades of this theme with CaptainSwan as well.
Anyway, the way they’ve left it, they’ve now got the door open to explore a lesbian relationship in the future if Jamie Chung is available and they can fit some more Mulan into the story, perhaps if she ends up in SB, or if everyone else eventually ends up back in FTL.

Keeper of FelixOctober 14, 2013 at 5:15 am #215715PheeParticipantSleepingWarrior is a reasonably popular ship. I’ve always figured it was believable from Mulan’s perspective, but it was never gonna be canon simply because we’ve already got twoo wuv proof where Aurora is concerned.

Anyway, last nights SleepingWarrior moment was really heartbreaking. Aurora clearly thinks of Mulan as her best friends and her protector but Mulan feels a different way. And Philip, as I strongly suspect is the case with Philip in most cases, is oblivious to everything.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"October 14, 2013 at 9:01 am #215738kfchimeraParticipantI think given the show had a secondary theme of loving again that if the actress is available that they might choose to pursue that for Mulan too.
I can’t say whether they swapped the direction or not, but it was very subterranean text in terms of clues we saw. I did feel bad for Mulan, but ultimately, even in the subterranean text Aurora never showed signs of reciprocating. The whole context of Mulan’s feelings arose from mistaking genuine friendship-love from Aurora for romantic. She must have realized as she was falling in love how one-sided it was because even when they thought Phil was dead, Aurora thought of Mulan as associated with Phillip so she ought to have suspected some of the closeness came from that, friend of a loved one thing. Not sure why she missed that before when they found Phillip but maybe they will eventually explore what happened to make Mulan, honorable as she is and friend of Phillip that she was too, so tempted to declare her love anyway.

October 14, 2013 at 10:07 am #215750TheWatcherParticipantIt’d be kinda cool if Phillip and Mulan have some epic sword fight over Aurora… While she’s sleeping… And the winner kisses her to wake her up 🙂

Maybe more than Phillip.
And even if she loves BOTH of them it doesn’t matter, because they’re Truly in Love with each other and making a family.
But when the heck did they have enough time for Aurora to even realize she’s pregnant? *scans timeline* I mean…srsly.
