I have my doubts that Rumple would trust Prince Charming and Snow White with his dagger, even if they are now sorta “family” by being related to Henry. Perhaps he planted a fake dagger in the clock tower, believing they would mess up and Cora would get it. There is a reason Rumple used a protection spell on his pawn shop. I think the real dagger is concealed inside of it, and that he is one step ahead of the game. After all, he can see glimpses of the future.

I love that theory and it does make sense. I hope you’re right! 🙂

Just a thought but I think it might be the real deal or at least it was at the beginning of season 1 because if you think about it the clock only started to move after she decided to stay and met Gold and he got his memories back…and if the real dagger was at the end of the minute hand that would make a lot of sense…

I don’t believe the dagger was in the clock tower when Emma decided to stay in SB; I think the hand of the clock moving was just a sign that her presence as the savior was enough to weaken the curse. If you recall, Mr. Gold decided to hide his dagger in the woods. In 1×7, Heart of a Lonely Hunter, Graham came across Mr. Gold “doing a bit of gardening” in his suit in the forest. In reality, Mr. Gold was burying his dagger in the ground. Later, in 1×19, The Return, when Mr. Gold thought August was his son, we saw the dagger again buried underground.

Agreed. We know he dug it up to show to August in 1×19 The Return so I would assume that he hid it somewhere else and the clock tower is appropriate. Even though we’ve seen many people go into the library for various reasons, Belle is the only one with a key and the clock has always been an important part of the story.

Well my first thought after watching tonight’s episode for the first time was that the dagger was a fake especially after that line about Rumple saying the dagger had not left his possesion in centuries led me to believe that it was with him..However, since he didn’t know who he was for 28 years the clock would have been a good place to hide it that Regina would never suspect and given that he was the one who created the curse he could have easily arranged for it to be hidden somewhere since he can see the future somewhat that he would have immediately remembered or sensed once he got his memories back. I mean since he didn’t have his memories he would have had to make some sort of arrangement to protect it from Regina since her memories were intact and she is the one person who would have been aware of the power it would have over him. Otherwise it could have just been another object in his shop for sale that Regina could have seen and he would have bought without Rumple being any the wiser until he gets his memories back. Then it would be too late. Of course once it started working again Rumple knew that Regina would go check it out so he removed it that night after taunting Regina and later hid it in the forest. His shop would have been to obvious when there was no magic to protect it and he was unaware of its value. He could have put a fake there tho that he had made long ago as a decoy.

I hope so, they’d get back and Cora would try to control him and nothing would happen – that would be funny. I never thought that map lead to the dagger anyway, I think it’s in his suitcase.
Unfortunatly I think Cora does have the real dagger. But we can always hope.

He said it had not left his side I think he has it with him…after Pinocchio tricked him into giving it up last time I don’t think he’d let it leave his side. We know it wasn’t buried in the same place it was it would make sense that he would hide it in the clock tower though. It’s an open possibility it would sure be amazing if the heros face off agains the villains over the dagger just for it to end up being fake
