Maybe I’m wrong, but it would be a surprise unless facing his mortality makes Mr. Gold desperate enough to think two muggles can take on powerful witches.

But did he expect that they’d have to take them on? The whole purpose of the Charmings finding the dagger wasn’t so they could use it to confront anyone, it was so Cora and Regina wouldn’t find it. The Charmings getting it first was meant to eliminate the threat of anyone wreaking havoc with it. It’s just that Cora and Regina were onto them, and the plan to keep the dagger out of their hands ended up being a bust.

Yes, the Charmings were supposed to find the dagger first and eliminate it as a threat. And if it hadn’t been for Snow blabbing to Regina in granny’s dinner about the dagger and choosing the side of good, then Regina and Cora never would have known Snow and Charming were looking for it too. Snow gave up her advantage of secretly knowing about the dagger when Cora and Regina didn’t know she knew.

But, really, does Mr. Gold suddenly think Snow White would be so strategic? This is the same woman who spared Regina in the EF, thinking Regina would change for the better, and then Regina cast the dark curse. Rumple knows Snow’s weakness is giving Regina second chances. Ahhhh, short-sightedness on Rumple’s part if he thought anything had changed. How could the Dark One not glimpse that happening or at least know from prior experience? He knew in the EF that Snow couldn’t resist giving Regina second chances so he should’ve known now. And why, oh why, did he cast the protection spell if not to conceal something precious like the real dagger?

But Cora is so powerful, how can she not sense that the dagger is fake?! She even touched and felt it like her own baby….

Given how she’s treated Regina, I wouldn’t want to be Cora’s own baby…but you’re right.

I kinda referring Cora to Gollum from Lord of the rings, when he held the ring as Cora held the dagger!

Cora is all about her and dark magic..! That’s her life and her baby… Regina has to be just a part of her plan to get what she wants… King Leopold’s kingdom. She never thought of Regina and never will. That’s our dearie Cora 😉

Having seen the first ten minutes of “The Miller’s Daughter” at Paleyfest, I can assure you that the dagger is real. (Not sure if that would be considered a spoiler, but just in case.)

Yes, Cora is very powerful and can sense magic being present in SB. Yet, the dagger, despite controlling a magical being, may not emit a powerful essence in and of itself. So, Cora could still be fooled into thinking it’s the real dagger.

I had to laugh when I saw the picture of Gollum holding the ring, because that is precisely the image that came to my mind when Cora held up the dagger. And when she sat in Regina’s chair, you could tell that Cora wanted to be mayor/queen and was not content to allow Regina to have power. Cora may love her daughter in a twister way, but something tells me her real love is power.

Just so you know, I died a little bit of jealousy when I heard that you all were getting to see the first 10mins of The Miller’s Daughter. 😛 If there’s anything juicy, please to post it in the spoiler section for that ep?

Ok, there goes my theory. 😉 I guess Mr. Gold really was just a desperate, dying man to trust in Snow White and Prince Charming. Maybe that poison had neurotoxins which caused him to lose his mind temporarily.

The way David reacted to the dagger was interesting: “now the Dark One can finally be controlled.” Sounds like David wouldn’t mind having control over Rumple, though given that Rumple keeps threatening his wife and child….

Exactly!! I was about to rant about it mind you?

Emma: Here’s the thing. You’re dying. And right now we are your best hope.
Emma: Time came for you to start trusting someone. And if I where you I’d start with family.

    …

    Snow: We did it.
Charming: Yup. The Dark One can finally be controlled.

    Le me
