I have an idea. It’s more for the board moderator, though.
Anytime there is an appealing character who is new to the show, like Hook (Presently, Hook is the hot topic. Colin O’Donoghue is adorable, the character is intriguing, the possibilities are amazing, and all this added together has made for a lot of conversation), what if there were a special topic for special handling?
Here’s what I mean: When Neal Cassidy comes back on the scene, and when Barrett shows up, if a lot is done with these characters, I expect that they will draw a lot of conversation. Anytime a new character or topic is getting so much attention, what if everything regarding that character were moved to a special place? The board’s topics have General Discussion, Spoilers, etc. What if there were also “Special Handling: Hook”, or “Special Handling: Neal”? When things cool down, this topic can be closed, the items can be moved (in batch) to general discussion, and then the topic can be replaced with another (i.e. Special Handling: [Fill in the blank]) when needed.
Just an idea to help organize things.

I agree. I don’t think a special section for Hook is needed neither. He has his own character discussion thread, along with all the other characters. And if we were going to decide on who’s eligible for their own special section of the forum, it would be Rumpel and Baelfire. Rumpel has the most pages in his thread, and everyone is talking about Baelfire. But for the most part, we should probably leave the forums exactly the way they are. Choosing to single out one character and exhalt them above the others would be a little offensive.

I was staying away from posting because everything has been revolving around Hook on these boards lately. I really felt I was the only one, besides a few others I’ve been talking to, that didn’t obsess over the character.

Neither Hook nor Rumple are the type to forget and forgive. Hook has spent too long focussed on his quest for revenge to let Rumple get away with what he did. The two characters can’t coexist peacefully in the same town. Either one has to kill the other or Hook has to leave Storybrooke.
Yes, yes, yes. Something has to give, and since the series is pivoted around Rumple, I don’t see him being the one who leaves and Hook staying. They might love their new plaything in Colin, but they wrote the main role with Robert in mind long before they even knew they could get Robert. I give no creedance to Eddie’s and Adam’s gloating. They love Emilie, but Belle has had some pure crappy storylines since becoming a regular.
I’m also not relying on the “series regular” label for keeping Hook on the show. We know from the past that doesn’t mean anything. Graham was a regular and killed in the seventh episode of season one. Archie and August were regulars and then got demoted. And Ruby and Belle had better storylines when one was a recurring and the other a guest star. Part of me would love to have the chaos of Hook being killed off. Just to see if all of the people claiming to leave the show would. I didn’t see the Graham-lovers, although they still lament his fate, leaving, so I don’t think the Hook sympathizers will do it, either. This show is much bigger than one person.
I’m assuming he plans to kill Rumple by stabbing him with the dagger. I speculated recently that Hook would in fact stab him, but it wouldn’t kill him, and Belle’s love would somehow save him, and then the Dark One curse will cease to exist because it can’t go back into Rumple, and if Rumple’s not dead, then it can’t move on to someone new either. If something like that happened, Hook would inadvertantly save Rumple’s soul whilst attempting to kill him, which would be sort of poetic…and would piss Hook right off…the moment he’s been plotting for almost 300 years, and it all goes completely wrong…talk about unsatisfying revenge.
I’ve always thought that the series finale will be Rumple/Gold dying and Belle bringing him back from the dead with her tears or kiss, like in the story “Beauty and the Beast”. But I figured he’s too big of a figure to do it earlier than the end, but these are the people who broke the curse in the first season. Nobody saw that coming. It would be wild if they broke Rumple’s curse in the end of Season Two and then he used his knowledge to help the Charming’s win in the “final battle”. I would also suspect that he would also be able to still perform magic. It seems sometimes, like in Regina’s case and even MM’s using the ink, that magic can be learned. I don’t see all that centuries of knowledge just disappearing with a kiss.

Belle’s not really been involved in the main plots of the season so far. They’ve so far seemed to concentrate on Emma and Snow in fairytale land and Charming trying to get them back. All other characters were pushed to the side. Hopefully with Emma and Snow back in Storybrooke, along with Cora and Hook, other characters outside of the Charming clan will now get a chance to shine.
All magic comes with a price!

I will third that!
But here’s an idea- everyone who thinks these threads about Hook are getting boring, stop posting in them…. That way they will go down from the top and make way for the more interesting threads, if you post something in them instead that is.December 17, 2012 at 7:13 pm #165304playaritaParticipantThe only thing I can think of is creating a chatterbox for ouat topics where there can be chat threads, hangout threads, the polls etc that people can kick back and really be able to feel to Fangirl/boy mode? Or a subforum of the chat place we have already

Anytime you have any subject people care about (I know the characters are make-believe, but I think everyone here can agree that posters are also rooting for their favorite actors), and where emotions run into the mix, you’re going to have disagreements. That’s because the opinions and feelings people put behind their posts are sincere.
I think we (me included) need to think about every topic from a 360Ëš angle. When we approach any subject from an introverted position, we’re blinded to possibilities, to creativity, and we learn nothing. With that, nothing substantial is gained, and we can only hurt ourselves by only seeing 1/2 of the picture we’re looking at.
Let’s just all give eachother, our favorite characters, the characters who we don’t like, and even the actors the benefit of the doubt, and the same measure of grace and respect we’d ask to receive for ourselves. If any show-writers read this board, I’m going to ask that they do the same. If we do that and keep an open mind, this will be a much more pleasant place to be
